Fujifilm Finepix HS10 - Which? First look

I have been using my hs10 for about a year now, and could not imagine moving to a differnt camera. I shoot events and portraits with it. At a professional level. The quality of photos is just as good if not better then some DSLR's. To be honesty, some are suprised to find that I'm only using a bridge camera and not a DSLR. The only fault I can find with the camera is the exposure, it seems to be off just a bit..but this can be taken care of in editing.

@s4m5on This is quite a complex camera but like all cameras it does have auto modes. The question is, if you are not a big photographer shouldn't you consider a simpler, smaller, more user friendly camera such as a compact?

@MrLukasDiSparrow It takes AA batteries. It all depends what you are shooting the video for. It does produce HD video and has lots of manual modes but it doesn't have an external mic in so would need a separate sound recorder

@grid911 It's definitely not a DSLR, it doesn't have removable lenses and has an electronic viewfinder not a single lens reflex viewfinder

ha wow its been a while since i owned one its amazing how fast you move on in photography i can remember looking at these with awe and not fully understanding anything he said , there primative compared to a dslr but amazing little cameras these . tbh even though a dslr is an amazing piece of equipment , you can get just as good pics with one of these . ive owned since fuji s5 pro , nikon d90 and now nikon d7000 . miss this little machine it taught me a lot about cameras and practiced a lot .

I have looked at two cameras, once the Fujifilm FinePix S100FS and the FinePix Fijiilm HS-10. What should I buy? The S100fs is better tested, it is already almost two years on the market. The HS-10, are brand new, so of 2010. It has a larger focal length (24-720!) And is assessed instead of 1.5, with 2.1. Well, I do it like this not as affected. What do you think? Which camera is better? I hope you can subordinate to it, because I'm from Germany, and I translated the text with "google".

The only thing that I don't like is the batteries, it uses 4 AA batteries. And I love the rest, especially the lens.

How easy is it to use the manual zoom and auto focus whilst trying to take a picture of a moving car ?? Would it be better / easier to get a camera with auto focus like the Panasonic FZ45 for such tasks ??

@WhichWebsite agreed, I have an old s9500 and I'm always using manual mode, because if you leave your bridge or dslr on auto by default, you're doing it wrong.

Isn't cause any problem the 30x big zoom in the picture quality? And I heard that the yellow color can burn easily. Is that true?

its a great camera from Fuji, i love the innovation and the size of the body almost the same size of my Nikon d3100, the quality of the photos is good and i recommend this camera it feels like you're having a dslr in your hand. Nice peace of art Fuji

@tmtpe i see, but it was the next day after i post my question, i went to FRYS electronic and checked this camera, i found the figure quality is very poor. so, i decided to chose the one next to its, it is Sony's Alpha 390 although it is $150 higher than fujifilm hs10 but it''s a real dslr and the lens is changeable and the images are terrific.

Check on ebay. I picked up one for $5.00. No lie. The name is Zeikos. Excellent flash. This flash fits on almost every camera.

My S9100 is on borrowed time. :O)) As far not having a microphone jack, that is not a problem. Everything is crystal clocked nowadays and any sound picked-up from a remote (Zoom brand for instance) self contained Recorder/Microphone should be easy to put back in sync. Hot-shoe mount it, record un quad and convert in 5.1. Voilà!

I have this camera, And I think its amazingly good, I filmed the vid I have on youtube with it, So if you want to have a look, then go ahead, its not full res tho. I love the super makro feature on this camera, since I take pictures of jewelry its needed.
