I purchased a W3 six months ago and recently bought a Xgimi 3D projector. I am blown away by the 3D images coming out of the Fujifilm miracle box, left me with a mouth wide open. A new W3 with 4k Video and a more sensitive sensor would be my minimum demand to buy it again. Simply awesome...

I have a mint Fujifilm Finepix Real 3D W3. It's seen little use since I purchased it in 2010 owing to the lack of easy viewing options. It's an amazing piece of kit and produces very clear stills and video. I dug it out a few days ago and purchased 2 x N50 batteries, as the original would no longer hold a charge, and a couple of 32 GB (Maximum capacity for this camera) SD cards. It's great to see a YT video of this incredible, little camera and I intend to put it to good use purely for fun purposes. Thanks for the upload!

I agree that the W3 is a great camera, the only downside is poor image quality in low light. Given that the W3 was not a commercial success and the 2010 3D wave has passed, it is unlikely we'll ever see a camera like it again. The best hope for 3D right now is VR180.

I was lucky enough to find one of these at the Future Shop in early 2012 for $150, it was a demo model that was being discontinued. Shortly after that, I bought the last floor model 3D Panasonic TV at the local Sears store for around six hundred bucks! I've taken thousands and thousands of 3D pictures and would like to put some online but not sure which website is best for that kind of thing.

Sounds like you got pretty darn lucky had a good point in 3-D history :-) unfortunately it’s a bit of a pain in the butt to get the pictures online. You have to convert them from MPO files so that they are side-by-side. I know there was some kind of original software that did it easier, but when I was more active with this camera, I did it through stereo photo maker to be honest. I’ve been a little bit out of the workflow for a few years since I purchased the. ego 3-D, which is much more convenient in its file format, but nowhere near the camera that the Fuji was so look up stereo, photo maker, or SPM online and there is a lot of info there on how to do what you’re trying to do. Take care.

First of all; WOW! That camera is still $900 on Amazon!!! Found a £400 USED one through a link on the fujifilm website... Thats EXPENSIVE for 10MP photos, and 720p videos, considering the quality 180 and 360 stereoscopic cameras you can get for that price... Secondly; my impression has been that VR headsets are mostly for hadcore gamers. Really dont see why stereoscopic imagery should be limited to that "niche". Pretty sure smart-glasses are gonna become more and more common. I have some cheap ones with stereoscopic 3D function, but 180 and 360 videos are useless on that device... Maybe i just gotta buy some more expensive ones. Im KINDA tempted to get a VR headset, but i mostly just want something small and portable for watching movies while camping...

Funny, same thing here. I actually got the Occulus Quest 2 to actually watch movies on it! Games are a bonus but weren't my motivation factor. Think I got lucky as I found a FujiFilm 3D camera for $220 American dollars in mint condition with the battery STILL SEALED in it's original packaging?!? Used??? Nope... NEW condition with zero wear and tear. Yes it wasn't in original packaging but everything screamed untouched about my camera I just bought. But as I'm learning quick, there a bit more than just focusing on the main subject now as you actually can set the focal point even?!? New learning curve as you have to set the main subject and the best focal point and you kind of have to hunt for the sweet spot so the subject and background BOTH are easy to focus on. But man... it fun learning! But when you do hit that right combination? Darn it's a sweet photo that you feel like you can almost grab into as you seriously feel the 3D effect of the photo. By the way are you talking about Glyph? It's dropped dramatically in price recently but got to realize that WAS originally a $600 dollar toy that I bought recently for just $99?!? The digital media player (cheap) is actually failing it but not the headset itself! Glyph is mobile but what good is that if the HD player you use in conjunction with it isn't mobile too! Or are you talking about those 'boxes' that hold a smart phone in the back with lens in the front? Haven't touched that myself, my androids are generally too cheap to consider it. My cell phone is actually for phone call and nothing else save for playing music through a Bluetooth speaker. Think I got REALLY lucky to find the camera in mint condition with an unused battery for the price I picked it up. Reality, I just wanted personal family photos with that extra umph seeing how family doesn't get together much anymore. :(

@@jamesloll4601 I never heard of Glyph, but the video glasses im talking about is the "Vision 800", which is around $200 on ebay. They are android, but even though you CAN download a few apps from the playstore, this will only eat up the TINY internal memory, so videos start lagging. I was able to download VLC and still play videos, but thats pretty much the limit... The battery capacity is enough for about 1 hour of video, so no movies in one sitting. If you try to connect a charger, you will hear a very annoying sound in the earbuds. At least charging only takes around 40 minutes. I want to get some better ones - but it has turned out to be difficult to find some that are of similar size/portability. So i suspect those mobile phone things may be the best option available... I will definitely turn on airplane mode if ill ever use my phone like this though...

Im not sure what just happened, but when i search for video glasses now, i find tons more than the cheap and usually OLD crap i have seen in the past. Including the "Glyph" you talked about. Guess i might be getting some new ones after all.

@@EspenFrafalne Glad I peaked your interest. It's kind of sad some overpriced tech is getting undersold because it is going under but is solid on it's specks. Got to warn though Glyph Founder's Edition WAS overpriced tech with some unique features that worked in my advantage. I wear glasses but each lens in the gear can be adjusted for your own eyes with a manual focal lens. Makes for an incredible sharp image minus your glasses. Nice thing is it is made with a two hour built in battery because it was designed for watching movies and anything less than 2 hours would be an insult. My biggest gripe was the fact you couldn't plug a memory card in and it would play the movies itself! Nope, need a HD player to plug the headset in. Was SO CLOSE to being a mobile VR movie player! They are other slight detracts too, despite the lens being able to be adjusted to your own eye spacing, the corners are sometimes just out of range but just. Wont notice with movies but definitely will if you plug your PC into it. If you can find it for yourself for $99 American dollars, GO for it! easily worth double but not much beyond that. It's definitely some well crafted tech that was definitely being sold to those who could afford that $600 price line. Bottom line, with this headset you can wear it's like watching a crystal clear nineteen inch monitor about 3 feet away perfectly center towards your forward view. Look up or down, yeah world is still there so you are definitely not blind to the world while wearing it but if you watch straight ahead, your not gonna see the world either. It's some sweet tech and I'm quite happy with it even though the player I bought for it has much to be desired. Even played some MP4 VR files through it from my PC seeing how my mobile player is crap. Flawless 3D, even better than the movies. Question is can I find a movie for the Glyph format? LOL. Don't really care as it good for good old fashion 2D movies too! Like the Fujifilm camera, this is some awesome tech going cheap because its going under but the quality is built in. You can tell the developers went the extra mile, just the tech was too expensive for the average consumer for the time it was released. I wouldn't be surprised if this tech comes back cheaper seeing how the tech to make it is also getting cheaper. Maybe this time there won't be a launched too soon belly up as the tech was too expensive for those of us that don't have that kind of EXTRA cash to throw at it. But can tell I got a jewel of a camera and Glyph? Not bad either.
