Hi Mike, hope your channel is going well and you and yours are happy and healthy. I didn't know if you'd like to be told but just felt it would be nice for you to know that the little X30 I bought from you 6 years ago is still going strong and hasn't missed a beat. It's a lovely camera and a joy to use. I was so impressed with the Fuji ethos and workmanship that I've made it my brand of choice and as well as the little compact I now have an XH-1 with a choice of lenses. Oh wow! Thanks so much for the update and I'm very glad to hear it. I really really liked that camera and the range of features on it even now is absolutely incredible. It was only needing to integrate my video use to one system and already having Canon cameras and lenses that had me sell it and I'm so glad it's been and continues to be appreciated. It's the perfect carry around zoom all in one for photos and the images even straight out of camera never failed to amaze. How is the XH-1? I've not kept up with Fuji releases but I know they're very very popular and see lots around in use.

@@spidiq8 It's such a wonderful camera I'm surprised that haven't made the X40 yet. The XH-1 is great too. It's been superseded by the XH-2 but the upgrade is not worth it to me, especially at £1500 more than the earlier version. A friend of mine uses Canon and has recently upgraded to the R5. He's extremely happy with it. Right, the local supermarket is calling me in its direction for a cupboard top up. Have a great day Mike. I'm off to take some pictures after the food trip.

I wanted a camera more suited to street photography than my big Nikon DSLR. I had already bought a great example, second hand, just before I found your vid. You've taken me through all the basics really well. Now I'm off to the street!

It's very easy to be overwhelmed with the expansive digital menu's but the beauty is that you can experiment and not waste film and know immediately what to adjust. Use manual settings if that's what you're used to but remember you can change ISO on the fly and work out all the other bits as you go.

Fabulous. It is ever so slightly bulky compared to an actual compact but if you have a bag or big pocket it's very manageable and the photos from it are stunning.

bought mine 2014,& never quite got to know it. this video has helped a lot. my fuji s5 pro was my go to camera.so difference in size was bit difficult. conflict between my film cameras also.

It's a lovely camera but the range of functions can be overwhelming. I love film still and it's nice to get back to the simplicity of shooting with film.

This video will prove very valuable. I have used a Fuji x10 for ten years, but it's recently developed a fault and is stuck in manual focus. I can still use EXR setting and use the exposure/focus lock with other settings, but it's a bit of a nuisance. I have just bought a second hand Fuji X30 so I am looking forward to using this instead. Much of the camera is the same, of course, but even after ten years I haven't used all the different capabilities these little cameras are capable of. Thanks for you help in advance!

Thanks a bunch, it's great to know people like them and I really appreciate the feedback. I plan to review a few more old film cameras as I still regularly shoot film so do keep checking back. :) I have a lovely old Kiev (Russian Contax copy), to review and that will be the next one I do as it was loaned to me but I need a break in this horrible weather to get out and shoot a roll or two of film through it to dev and scan so I can show the pictures in the video like this one.

Hi Mike, great review. I've been tempted to buy this camera for a while now and have been waiting patiently for Fuji to tweak the design slightly and maybe include a larger sensor as in practically all other aspects it's ideal. Have you noticed any IQ problems with such a small sensor and also I understand there's some kind of limitation with regard to available apertures in some shooting modes. Thanks for any help you could give.

Hi David, This has been an excellent camera and a joy to use, I will say honestly it's the best I've used bar none for straight out of camera JPEG images, saturation, sharpness and detail, it does lose a little in digital noise on dark photos and ISO 3200 upwards compared to a larger sensor such as APS C but if you did a side by side with a 1" sensor I doubt you'd notice a difference. Considering i've been a user and fan of Canon cameras for years I was amazed at how much I liked it, mines for sale, (Nudge nudge wink wink), simply because it was too costly to keep as a maybe use occasionally camera and i've moved to an EOS M for video and general use due to one appearing at a bargain and being a Canon fan i'm familiar with the layout from my DSLR. If you check my flickr you'll see a couple of photos of Eilean Donan castle in the highlands when it was lit in red for remembrance day to give an idea of low light noise, it's certainly useable. The thing I will miss most is the customisable EVF and screen so you can have the EVF only on eye detect which makes your battery last almost as long as a DSLR, the battery being the biggest complaint of all mirrorless users.

Unfortunately I can't remember if that's possible and I moved this on to get another EOS M some time ago as I was more familiar and comfortable with Canon. It's incredibly customisable though and I think I went through the whole menu in the video.
