Using both the GFX100 and XT4 is pretty amazing. When you get to shoot the intimate and slow parts of the wedding the GFX kills it and for everything else XT4. The only reason someone would choose the GFX100 over the XT4 in my opinion is when there is a lot of dynamic range (sunsets) and if your client wants very high res prints. Also if you're a landscape wedding photographer that loves to use couples a scale for a beautiful scenery then this camera also kills it.

I had high hopes for the xt series for wedding photography. Sounds like the crop sensor doesn't quite compare to the bigger sensors. I can't afford the medium format genre. Hope Canon nails something soon in full frame mirrorless.
@problemat1que4 жыл бұрын
Fujifilm crop has the same dynamic range as Canon full frame (Sony sensor vs Canon sensor, google dynamic range comparison between sony a6400 and canon eos r to see the numbers, 13.5 +- 0.1 stops, essentially the same), and the X-T4 and X-T3 (after recent firmware update) have excellent AF in low light. Many wedding photographers use Fujifilm, you just watched a video by one who does, as well. Not sure what you're even trying to say, other than mentioning your favorite brand.

@DJshutterfly4 жыл бұрын
@@problemat1que Thanks for the helpful info. I too came from full frame Canon and am curious if crop sensor Fuji is the right choice for me re wedding photography. If I understand John's point, the X series is a good starter system system until you can afford a larger sensor whatever the brand. Obviously GFX would be the dream upgrade. The full frame brands simply provide options that fill the very large chasm between X and GFX in terms of price and size.
@problemat1que4 жыл бұрын
@@DJshutterfly The question is what do you get for your extra money spent on a Canon EOS R system? It's not dynamic range. Sensor size isn't a value in itself. Answers I would accept: more subject separation and the option to buy high quality $2000+ lenses. The OP wrote, however, "crop sensor doesn't quite compare to the bigger sensors", which is just such a vacuous and nebulous statement to be meaningless.

I was one of the first photographers to get a GFX50S in Germany. So GFX user from day 1 basically. I use my GFX for the formal shots on weddings (and all my studio work obviously) and the combo of XH1 and T3 for the reception. The reason I went Fuji in the first place was the weight of my D4s. So I wouldn't want to hold a GFX for 14ho straight... 🙈
@nelsonclub77224 жыл бұрын
I did exactly the same thing for a few years. As soon as Fuji sent me their demo unit 50s I was in. also the Xh-1 looks very similar to the GFX to the untrained eye. Portraits on the GFX for weddings makes so much sense, the XH-1 integrates seamlessly I was then given a 100 by Fujifilm in exchange for a preserved GX680III - Its on permanent display at House Of Photography in Covent Garden with every lens they made (and some accessories they didn't - a few prototypes) but in the end I now use a Hass H6D100 as image quality is mad by comparison - remember the GF's are only slightly bigger than 35mm FF; whereas the the Hass is as near as makes no difference the full on MF FF!!

Sadly not. The difference between it, I had one, and the Phase One which I also had (rented on a cupla fashion shoots) is about the same difference between APSC and FF. The GFX is a small sensor compared to the FF MF of Phase One. However that aside I could not get on with either so I went with Hass H6D 100 which is better for many reasons than a Phase One. Final image being the main one. The only Phase One which makes sense is the XT as it uses decent lenses, but this has too many caveats, one being that you cannot use the full shift on ANY of the current lineup of rodenstocks (they had to bang a clever shutter mechanism in which pushed the flange too far forward and on XF the Schneiders are too sharp and too slow. As for the old rebadged Mamiya's which make up the rest of the lineup? Well they were never that good on a Mamiya 645 in the first place and certainly cannot resolve anything over 50MPX to the same standard as GFX 50 let alone a GFX100 - hope that helps. Now if someone could just get organised and roll out a FF MF for the RZ I think we would all get along better.....!!! If anyone is even remotely interested I have been a pro for 35yrs - and a Fuji 'Film' ambassador where I would extol the virtues of NPS160 and NHG to other wedding photographers. In exchange for the GFX 100 I kindly donated one of my GX680III's in an 'as new' and unused, totally preserved with every single lens for it including the coveted zoom and 500 to Fujifilm where it resides on permanent display at House Of Photography Covent Garden in their Heritage Department - I haven't seen it yet but I am told it does create a lot of interest!!!
@problemat1que4 жыл бұрын
@@nelsonclub7722 Thanks for sharing, just to add FF 36x24 / APS-C 23.6x15.6 = 2.35; Hassy 53.4x40 / Fujifilm 43.8x32.9 = 1.48, so the step from APS-C to FF is significantly larger than the step from Fujifilm 4433 MF to "digital 645". If that's the last bit of quality you need, that's of course what's important to you and I won't argue your decision, you clearly know what you're doing. It's just not the same step, more like APS-H to FF, as if comparing the older Canon 1D to the current 1D sensor sizes. The Hassy also makes for a very different, not so portable package, which for your purposes might be perfect (studio? product? archival? fashion? whole crew on set?) but for a one-man band wedding photographer might cross the line. Not to mention the very different price tags. In conclusion, quite separate markets that can exist side by side with each other with no issues.
@nelsonclub77224 жыл бұрын
@@problemat1que I agree with all that you have said - perhaps my point which wasnt made clearly enough is the difference in IQ - in my line of work cameras are not important to me - I use anything and everything there is to get the job done - but in the digital format I started off with the the quite revered Xt2 - and then went in order - GFX- Hass H6D but also as a sideline X series - and the difference between true MF and a good DSLR even with 10's of MPx is significantly different - per se in IQ - that is to say final picture quality - so I am not arguing with you at all - just in my experience -price point excepted, format excepted - just from what I see - bigger is always better. Hundreds of years I used 10x8 and printed on to Cibachrome; until I see that level of blow your eyes off - I will always see digital as nothing more than a good compromise - and what a good one it is - but bigger is not always possible and not always necessary - and of course the most important thing is not what camera you have but what you put in front of it and what you have behind it!!!
