it is important to note that while many of the modern fuji cameras have the ability to add color shift to the white balance, very few allow you to store that red/blue value as part of your custom simulation setting. this was fixed in a firmware update on a few models (x100v, x-pro3 and x-t4) but is still missing from many models, such as the x-e3. since many custom recipes rely on white balance shift, it can be frustrating if your camera model doesn't have the ability to save those values for each custom sim.

What a wonderful video, thank you! The fact that you put in the time to help others is above and beyond. You provide such a good base to start from because a lot of the settings are tricky to understand when you first get a Fuji (and most other camera brands for that matter). I'll definitely be subscribing.

Great Video ! Regarding Clarity, my workaround is as follows: I save my recipe with clarity. When I am doing streetphotography I switch to the CL burst-mode which is set to 5fps. This will disable clarity and I am not in a risk, missing a great shot. If I am not in a hurry and can take my time for composition (architecture, museum etc.) is switch back to single-shot mode and clarity will be applied.

Great video! I recently purchased my first Fujifilm camera (after decades of Canons) and your explanations were very helpful to adjust my jpg settings. I use my custom profiles mainly to compensate for the individual characteristics of the lenses I use. The 27mm pancake for example delivers way flatter images than the fast primes (and I use it a lot for street and travel), so I created my own custom setting to get everything back in line.

Thank you, this is such a great video, so clear , the best I've found on KZbin to understand my Fujifilm xs10 settings. I have a question, some settings as the dynamic range are locked, I can't activate it. I don't understand why. I've tried to change the iso, but it doesn't change anything. What would be the solution ?

This is an excellent video! Very clear and helpful. I'm a noob and just got my first camera. Any idea why many of the image quality settings are grayed out on my X-S10? I've tried everything.

I don’t own the camera but below are a couple of guesses Is it the mode dial set to auto? Raw only reducing settings? On some camera the burst mode stops some settings

So, does the sharpness, color, tone curve, etc. only affect the jpeg in the camera file or does it also affect the raw?

Only the JPEG! I think it’s thought that the DR setting might effect the RAW a little

great but I bet you regret using a white background as it drowned out the fine changes between the settings a lot
@jooyoonchung35932 жыл бұрын
Great video, thank you. One small correction: Compressed RAWs have the exact same quality as uncompressed RAWs, as the compression is lossless. Compressed RAWs will take a bit longer to process in LR as the computer needs to unpack them, but other than that, they are exactly the same as uncompressed.
@yamazaru82363 ай бұрын
skimming over them I see no comments on color space, so very quickly: sRGB is used in monitors and can show less colors due to its smaller size compared to AdobeRGB. So basically, if you only shoot your photos for screens like Instagram, keep it on sRGB, if you print a lot, do AdobeRGB. I always keep it on Adobe, since with very slight changes in color I can always convert it to sRGB or CMYK very well, but not the other way round most of the time

I'm new to Fujifilm and I'm still getting confused and lost with a lot of these settings, so if anyone is able to answer I would greatly appreciate it 🙏 Once you've messed about with the Image Quality (I.Q.) settings, how do you reset that back to its default?
@Goughie Жыл бұрын
So what I do is have custom slot 1 set up with everything as default, and then slots 2-6 set up as recipes

For white balance, I like to set it to 5500k and leave it there for the slide film look. Slide film has no white balance unless you bring a warming or tungsten filter. I shoot with raw + jpeg because storage is cheap, and only keep the keeper raws I might want to edit one day, plus you can then reprocess in camera and change white balance afterwards if it was messed up

Hey, that WB shift you mentioned, does it work along with Auto WB after I set it, or does it only work with manual WB/ preset WB modes?

AF/MF setting, you then need to half press the shutter, that’ll autofocus, and with the button still half pressed if you turn the focus ring it’ll manual focus

Are you using a XH2 or XT5? 40MP is megapixel, whereas are you describing that the file size is 18-20MB? If so then you are getting 40MP pixels
