I've been using the X-H2S on productions and here in the studio. In this one we'll take a look at some new features of the camera and also go over the optional fan unit and the Tascam XLR microphone audio adapter kit for the camera.

I own a MixPre 6 Mk2 as well as the H2s. I totally agree that the MixPre provides more functions at a greater cost. Where the Tascam XLR interface scores is that it bypasses the camera's preamps and transfers digital audio via the hot shoe's contacts. (At least that's what I've read elsewhere). It also makes for a more compact rig. If I was starting with a clean slate, I would probably just put a MixPre 3 Mk2, underneath the camera and install the amazing NoiseAssist plugin (like you). IF the Tascam unit just sends analog audio, then that would make me question its value. Oh, one other thing - with the Tascam, apparently, the H2/s can record 4 channel audio into the video file. Incidentally, just thought I would mention, that the Tascam brand is a subsidiary of Sony.

Hi, excellent video, I have the Fujifilm X-S20 and most of it applies to my camera. I wanted to ask you what you think about using the Zoom F3 recorder (with 32 bit floating) instead of this dedicated Tascam adapter. Greetings from Argentina!

Thanks for watching! Yes. As long as you are cool with double system sound I think that would be a great option.

I am not aware of the possibility of jam syncing the Fujifilm cameras to an external source. You can use the Tentacle Sync E into the audio, which do, but can't sync the Fuji's clock to it.

There may not be a way. I did some research and couldn’t find anything. Maybe reach out to Deity and Tentacle and see what they say.

Fuji now supports Atomos AirGlu Bluetooth TC sync protocol. I believe TC can only be jammed via HDMI.

Can you do 4-channel audio with the Tascam XLR adapter? For example, have two XLRs on the Tascam and then a Rode Wireless Go (for example) into the 3.5mm jack?

The camera has the ability to record 4 channel audio but I didn't test that.

Any ideas on how to use the tascam adapter on the fuji when the fuji is equipped with a cage and top handle?

Unless it’s the generic one that’s just a cold shoe that is battery powered, no.

It’s a nano clamp, stud and a SmallRig Battery/Hard Drive holder.

what doc did you work on and where could people watch it?

It's been so long since I did this that I'm not sure what priject I was referring to or where in the video I mentioned it. Non of my videos are scripted so if you could point me to where I said that that would be great. That said, I done a lot of both documentary and documentary style work in my career. One doc short that I directed (with cinematographer Matt Porwoll as part of the project), was part of a Canon training series on the C300MKII. @@theC47 it was at the very end 45:00 but speaking of some real jobs - I had a 1st time opportunity to shoot for a few companies at a convention. Used a DJI wireless mic, heard from a friend who's deeper inside the industry about these wireless products failing when there's a lot of signal in the air. Needless to say that exactly happen at the convention that the DJI wireless mic get distorted if recording at a medium distance (close up interviews 3 meters are ok) I feel for me this is a future solution and maybe If i slowly try to get more work like this - maybe the first solution I know of are those wireless sennheiser mics connected to the tascam? (still dream of a tascam like this with a better shotgun mic to record music events or general run and gun shoots too) last would be a set up to record audio directly from a mixer (could have worked in some situations, but not all)

Btw, there is noise assist in the camera... you need to get into the correct menu dude.
