The walking test with a telephoto is a realistic scenario for event and wedding photographers, let alone sport photographers. The lens motors are not the issue, they can focus from minimum focus distance to infinity in a split second, why should it be an issue to move focus a few centimeters per second then? The result from the running test with a wide angle lens is just embarrassing considering how long of a way you had to go and how large the depth of field was for most of the time. Other brands reached above 95% in such tests years ago even with average lenses. The X-H2S has a stacked sensor with 26MP and very capable processor.

Yes, I love my Fuji cameras for travel photos and the ease of editing files but it does not compare in AF for weddings once I tried the Sony a7iv. I use the XT5

We don't need the newest firmware to simply revert to what was available years ago. And for anything professional, this still isn't usable. Focus on the tree to the right even in the latest update video for the hunting and clear stepping. You had you chance fuji. I'll be selling

Thanks for doing all his work. I was going to say, if this lens you did the continuous shooting test is the XF56 first one, that lens is not optimal for fast AF. Would have been interesting to see something like the XF33 F1.4.

Totally appreciate the work that you did putting this video together and I really enjoy all your videos, however if you are satisfied with this firmware autofocus "fix" I have to say that you are easily pleased. Some of those results were just plain awful. If I were someone considering investing in the Fujifilm system and saw those test results I would be very worried and would look at other systems. I have been a Fujifilm user since X-T1. I recently sold my X-S10 as I want to upgrade to a used X-T5 and then look at the X-T6 when that comes out in 2025. I am seriously considering my decision now and have real concerns as to whether Fujifilm can actually fix the autofocus issue to the level where it is usable as in my opinion right now it is not. Useable is probably not the right word as in my mind it is not enough. Reliable autofocus is what I want and reliable under many shooting conditions. I might hold out until the X-T6 comes out to see what the autofocus is like before I decide what to do as I have a ton of Fuji lenses and I am pretty much invested in the system and I would take a decent financial hit if I were to sell them and have to buy into another system.

I would really like to see you test another camera maker's AF with the same criteria. I think hit rates are a bit subjective as you said. But I feel you'll be able to be consistent, so your rates with another brand will be comparable with the ones you found here. I don't think it makes sense to draw comparisons to other people's say "95% hit rates" when their test was probably different and their criteria, too. Bonus if you could do it with the same 3rd party lens on both cameras, e.g. Sigma 56 1.4 on Fuji and Sony.

Great video, again. Firmware update: Disappointing, as always. A simple bugfix. Shooting a conference yesterday, face AF wasn't useable, when there were many faces in the frame, the system ignored the AF box totally. I was happy to leave the XH2s in my bag, the Z8 did the job. The AF hit rate in your scenario (portrait, walking, 56mm) is simply awful. Fujifilm isn't able to design a fast focusing portraits lens in the range 40-80mm. This makes the situation even worse. "Good enough" is their benchmark, but they missed it again. This is the level of Sony in 2020/2021?

9:00 pretty the main issue with AF I see on my X-H2s. That is, according to this video, still not fixed. Jumping in an out of the screen, always looks a kind of idiotic - and actually it is. Plus: For action one would choose a different AF mode anyway. Having C1-7 that can be addressed. But this looks to be the YT thing to test.
@derJackistwegКүн бұрын
14:25 exactly! 10 years and longer ago people were able to take Portraits - arent they? I dont get it, isnt it the job of a photographer? Besides tha fact, of course, that sharpness isnt the job of a photographer to beginn with.

Wow, I never realized how horrible Fuji AF was... What's up with the weird background pulses even when the face was in focus? That's like Panasonic contrast-based AF from 2010 level stuff.

It doesn't matter to me if Fuji's auto focus is as good as Sony's or Canon's. These cameras can't compare to Fuji's colors.

Canon’s colors have always been one of the best. Compare to Fuji a would say is very subjective. Regarding to Sony they have been improving and is already very good. Honestly I can’t see colors as a factor to pick a camera anymore and in top of that it can be change in post.

@@RoamingDoctors not for everyone. Colors can be edited in post which most professional photographers do to achieve amazing look despite their camera. @ S5 mark 2, Nikon ZF. Both are as same as or cheaper than xh2s, but have much better AF. Fuji is stacked in the past with broken AF algorithm that can not be fixed and they still don’t know how to reinvent a new one.
