Great remake on yesterdays video bro! I think while intentions are there with 50 f1 that lens is just not LM which most professional fuji uses prefer for snappy auto focus (not to mention that lens being quite unattainable or perhaps not necessary for alot of fuji system user) and moreover, no need to shoot crazy stuff at f1 haha. I think watching the mid part looks like once it loses you it takes a while to come back, but when you were squatting out of screen and coming back quickly it was programmed nicely to remain at that focal point which looked incredible. No subject should be leaving an empty scene for too long. Great vid mate

It focuses so much faster than the 56mm F1.2 that it never even occured to me it isn't a linear motor lens! This is a very fair point to bring up, I'm going to pin it.

@@omarknowsphotos I own and use the 50mm f1, and have owned both versions of the 56mm and yeah, the 50mm focuses much faster and more accurately than the 56mm’s do. I really disliked the 56. The 50 is awesome and accurate even at f1. I think the 50 is capable of fast autofocus, whereas I’m not confident the 56mm is, so it was interesting to see if the new firmware might actually improve my 50mm. Thanks for the footage man

Great video/demonstration. IMO it was pretty good and more than acceptable. 50 1.0 is a tough one too for af tracking.

I picked it on purpose for that reason. It's good enough for what the overwhelming majority of people will ever need it for and a steal for anyone looking for open gate. R6II being priced so close to this means they still need to do better though.

Looks like you might be slightly off in measuring minimum focus distance. That distance is actually calculated from the image sensor and not the end of the lens. On every camera, there's a circle with a line through it on either the left or right side of the diopter. That symbol indicates where the sensor is, which is where any distance measurements should be taken. Excellent test videos (this one and the previous). Thank you for taking the time and effort to do this.

Yeah, someone else mentioned that and I didn't know that was still a thing on digital cameras after trying to learn about shooting film during the lockdown days. For the sake of what I was testing, where people said I was too close in the previous video, I think that's an even better test now since I wasn't teetering on the edge. That being said, I'm definitely going to mention this fun fact in the next video! Thanks for watching!

I think admitting bias is not a problem. We all have them and admitting there is a bias with the testing and the comment about companies feeding off of parasocial relationships is important to be aware of! One interesting thing to note is that I didn't see too much breathing in the bokeh when the camera was locked onto your face. I like this. My X-H2S make it look like it was pulsing, especially with anything that was set below f2.0. So far, outside of some misses, this looks promising. Thank you for posting this.

MFD is measured from the sensor, not the front element of a lens, thus being shorter than you shown us

Also, I’ll feel like they REALLY made the eye/face tracking the priority here almost to a fault. From the tests I’ve seen so far, it very much focuses on faces even when face detect isn’t on, like when you’re trying to get it to focus on items in your hand. This is great for me as a portrait photographer who doesn’t do video, but I could see that being pretty annoying for video shooters.

The fact I noticed you also had an ND filter on the front of the lens is even more impressive for a lens that doesn’t have a linear AF motor.

That you state the settings is important. Like it or not, and maybe unlike other brands, it won't work at its best straight out of the box with the defaults. Make your own defaults for the situation and store in a custom setting, or even camera profile in the xapp - and adjust from there. It's not a Sony, and if that's what people spefically want rumour has it Sony cameras and lenses are freely available to buy. This performance seems similar to what I get now on my x-t5 today. Stills and burst mode is more important to me.

The problem I observe is with consistency. We should be able to anticipate how are tools will behave, but with Fujifilm, the behavior of auto-focus seems to wander. I appreciate your effort, but I think Fujifilm still has problems.

Was just about to say this. The inconsistency / inability to predict focus behavior is what’s going to always hold Fuji back. It’s why I switched to Sony.

Thank you...I think the CAF is still baaaad. 5 days ago I got the Sony ZV E1. Night and day. AF is magical. I love my Xh2s for picture but let's say for a wedding it's a camera you can't count on because the AF is not reliable at all. Let's face the truth. Fuji for video is ONLY a choice if don't use AF AT ALL. So sad.

Also I feel ND filters affect AF on Fuji cameras. Also not correcting you but , if you do use a measuring tape to stay within minimum focus distance arent you futher away because the focus distance starts from the front of the sensor not the front of the lens?

@ufukkiblat at f1.0 that is still impressive from what I saw. I think moving fast and having an aperture of F1.0 on a lens that already isn't that fast to focus is a lot more than anyone should ask of a lens and camera combo using AF .

Hello Omar, I am a professional photographer based in Lisbon /Portugal, and ami shoot with two H2s and with their respective grips. At the autofocus level the cameras were much better but I already had a problem, when I use flash (godox v1 and V1pro) the cameras sometimes freeze and I have to remove the grip. As soon as I do it, they go back to normal. Does it happen to you too? Hug and thank you

I have a V1 Pro and will test this today. Previously this was not an issue. Are you using these on-camera or with a wireless trigger and if you are using a trigger, can you tell me the brand and model?

@ thanks for the reply. I’m using on camera. When I use the trigger (godox XT2) I don’t have any problem. First I thought that was a problem with one grip, but I make all the changes possible, including the baterias (all fuji) and the problem continues. The two cameras sometimes freeze. Always with the flash. For exemple, when I shoot real state, with the grip and with the fuji 8-16 2,8 the cameras never freeze.

Don't focus on him focus on the background during movement. It's much easier to see the hunting and pulsing. Still lightyears behind the competition still not as good as the original firmware. Still a failure. See ya fuji.
