Hey Lonnie, for your first video and review, you did an excellent job. Covered all the main points from a long term user perspective and had a nice flow. Great work. Nice images. The one at 15:24 is great - lovey light and nice centering of the subject between the rows of sunflowers. The image at 15:39 looks like a shot for an ad of some sort. Great subjects and expressions. Keep it going man. You’re off to a rocking start.

This is an outstanding discussion of the camera. I have all three X-Pro cameras and really enjoy the shooting experience. I agree with your critique of the optical view finder. The absence of magnification does restrict its usage. I hope Fuji reconsiders that decision when the X-Pro 4 is released.

I wish I had my hands on all 3 at the same time for a comparison. It's definitely one of my favorite camera bodies ever though. I didn't talk about the combination of OVF and little EVF box in the corner but I absolutely loves shooting it that way too. Being able to frame and compose with OVF viewfinder lines while getting a preview to make sure the autofocus hit and how the exposure will look is brilliant. Thanks for watching!

That is your first Review ????? Are you kidding ??? I am taking Fotos for nearly 40 Years, mainly analog and over ten years on a pro-Basis. I still can handle a Nikon F 3 in the Dark. (Sorry for my English, I am German) In my Eyes, your Rev shows that you care about the Pics, you can take with this or that tool. Believe me, I had many cameras. Now its the X Pro 3 and I can absolutely confirm what you say !!! Super great Job !!!!!!!!!! Like I always say: The best Camera is located between your ears The second best camera is the the one you have with you The rest you can buy. But pls do me one favor: Tell me: What is is foldable thumbrest you have on it.??? I searched my A... off for it. Greetings from Germany Thomas

Thank you so much for the kind words. I really like your philosophy about the best camera being your brain. The thumbrest is the Lensmate Thumb Grip for Fujifilm X-Pro3. You can find it at one of these two links. Hopefully you can buy in Germany. It's a great thumb rest and the folding feature makes it feel like a film advance lever! www.amazon.com/Lensmate-Thumb-Fujifilm-X-Pro3-Xpro3/dp/B0849YVS2T lensmateonline.com/products/fujifilm-xpro3-folding-thumbrest-black-by-lensmate?variant=31330885828739

Nice camera and review, but the weakness or should I say the design of the back screen left me unable to upgrade from the pro two to the pro three! Went with the XT4 and never looked back, unfortunately the screen left me wanting again. The best back screen so far is on the X100V
@Lonnie.G

While screen works well for me -- I can totally understand why it wouldn't for others. The screen on the X100V looks amazing because you can't even tell that it tilts -- it looks so well integrated!

After falling in love with the X100V, I’m seriously considering trading in my XT3 for an XPRO 3. I shoot portraits and headshots professionally. Do you think I’d be losing anything going from the XT3 to the XPRO 3?
@Lonnie.G
@Lonnie.G 2 жыл бұрын
For portraits I'd say the only two things to consider would be the articulation of the back LCD and the quality of the EVF. The portrait tilt of the xt3 is really nice if you ever frame vertical shots on the back lcd and you lose that on the xpro 3. Xpro 3 back lcd is still usable vertically of course but it's not as convenient and a little awkward. Secondly the EVF on the XT3 is noticeably larger than the Xpro 3 which can make it easier to compose. For me the diff in EVF wasn't a big deal because the xt3 EVF field of view is almost too big for my eyes and I couldn't see into the corners so I would have to move my head around to check corners or change the setting in camera to shrink the display. Neither are major concerns at all IMO and if you enjoy the format of the x100 series and want a similar shooting experience in your main camera then the Xpro 3 is fantastic.

Thanks! People don’t know the big hand struggle lol. It’s amazing the things you can do to make this synonymous with the experience of shooting film. OVF only, no back lcd chimping, small 1gb SD card to simulate a roll of film, shoot with one film simulation per sd card etc.

Recently got myself an X100V, as I missed my X-T cameras after switching the Nikon Z system. I cannot complain about my Nikon kit, but boy am I currently battling a mighty bout of GAS. I’ve been loving the X100V so much that I’m thinking about switching back to Fuji with the X-Pro3s for my wedding work. I need to stay away from KZbin before I do something rash.

Hey Lonnie, does the x pro3 overheat when filming in 4K? I had the x100v, which I loved but ending up selling because I hated how it overheated every time I filmed in 4K. Could only film for about 3-4 minutes before it shut down due to overheating.

@Lonnie.G
@Lonnie.G 2 жыл бұрын
I would hold off for two reasons: 1 - it doesn’t offer a ton over the xpro 2 so wait for the next model and if it’s not worthy then used xpro 3s should be decently affordable by that time 2 - while I love the screen on the xpro 3, a lot of others don’t. If Fuji continue with this model then the xpro 2 will kind of be a collectors item since it’s the last xpro with normal back screen. Similar to how used xpro 1s used to be cheap and now they are more expensive because people seek them. Xpro 2 will likely be the same. So def keep it. Either way id wait it out if you’ve waited this long
@blood_n_guts_murphy
@blood_n_guts_murphy 2 жыл бұрын
Good to hear you would wait as that's what I am doing. I don't need babying with the invereted LCD as I dont chimp. The loss of the D pad might cancel out the better EVF.

Nice video, i have the x-pro 3 also and find the OVF better then the one on the x-pro1 (which i have also owned), yes you lose the extra magnifier, but i still find the 18 f2 perfectly usable on the ovf, besided the ovf is bigger and has way better eye relief. I always felt my eye cramped to the ovf of the xp1 in order to see something.
@gerben4875
@gerben4875 3 жыл бұрын
Also i like to use the ovf when it is brigh outside. It makes composing image easier as the evf will shown the sky blown out or the surface to dark because of the high contrast scene. I just engage the erf and check exposure before pressing the shutter
@Lonnie.G
@Lonnie.G 3 жыл бұрын
@@gerben4875 I think you are right about the quality of the older OVF. I haven't used the X-pro 1 in a few years so I'm probably looking at things through a nostalgic lens. Thinking back though, the magnification is much better. It's usable with the 18mm; however, I just wish they found a way to squeeze just a tiny bit more so we can at least see frame lines. I really like the ability to se what's just outside of the frame so that I can make a conscious effort to include it or not. It's definitely not a deal breaker but the ability to switch just made the older OVF seem that much cooler -- even if the new one is a bit easier to use. Do you wear glasses? I know that was a always a real struggle on the older viewfinder as the relief was definitely as bad as you say. Thanks for being my first comment ever!
@gerben4875
@gerben4875 3 жыл бұрын
@@Lonnie.G Hi Lonnie, no problem ;) I do sometimes wear glasses and i find it perfectly doable with the xp3 (havent tried it with the xp1). I agree that dual magnification would have been better. I think the camera would have become thicker though. I also like seeing outside the frame. I currently use the 18 f2, 23 1.4, 35 1.4 with the xp3. I will get my xf 60 2.4 back soon from repair, I wonder how that lens will be with the ovf. On the one hand i am afraid the focus frame will be to small. The positive side would be that you can see way outside the frame, which could be useful for framing
@Lonnie.G
@Lonnie.G 3 жыл бұрын
@@gerben4875 Yeah and I think they would have missed the mark if they had to make the camera thicker -- so it's a fair trade off in that regard. Pretty similar lens setup to me except I have the f2 version of the 23. I don't know if I've seen the 60 through the OVF, I think i was using the X-E2 back when I owned that lens -- though I have used the 56mm with the OVF and if you use single point with the little tiny EVF in the corner of the OVF, it's usable. So I imagine your experience with the 60mm will be similar. Interested to hear ho it works out for you!
