I’ve had my Xpro3 for just under 2 years now. One challenge I face constantly is the fact I’m left eye dominant and wear fairly large glasses. The EVF is perfectly clear but I can’t always get my eye close enough to view the whole composition. Using the optical viewfinder solves that issue but only works in some situations. I love the camera, but that one challenge can feel like a hindrance. On a different note, i recently started taking self portraits with the Xpro3 and I’m extremely happy with the results, the sharpness, texture and colors it produces with my 50mm f2 are outstanding.

You’re the first person on KZbin I’ve come across that is promoting its use in sports and applications other than street photography. I don’t know why more people aren’t saying that too. This camera is important to me because I needed to slow down and become more deliberate with my photography. The lack of IBIS would be managed with an appropriate lens so I’m fine with that. Anyway, I concur with your perspective here. Thank you for sharing it. As of now I have the 16-55 f/2.8 and the 35 f/1.4. I’m a bit indecisive regarding my next purchase: 33 f/1.4, 90 f/2, 70-300, or the 50-140 f/2.8. Right now I’m leaning to the 33 and 90.

After a few DSLRs, I bought a new Nikon D3 over a dozen years ago. It's the best camera I've ever used, and I'm still shooting professionally with it today. 12 megapixels? Damn right. I've owned a few Fujifilm cameras - but they all lacked that "feel" that the D3 provided. Until I began shooting with the XPro3. This camera is the game-changer I've been hoping for in terms of design, handling, AF, image quality - even just the way it looks. I expect to be shooting with it for many years. I don't need anything else. Thanks for praising this special camera.

Hey, great video as usual. Yesterday I had a bitter feeling with the Fuji Summit. Great technology, super useful features, but made me question where this will all lead to. Working in tech, made me realise sooner or later people will be replaced by AI, in most jobs, including "photography with no soul" - if in focus and fast shots are what we strive for, people will not be able to compete with technology-. This leads to the crash we have been seeing in art, either being architecture, painting, etc. materials and technology allow anyone to execute, but ART is made by ARTISANS. You and Daniel Milnor are two of my most waited content producers, because you are blunt, sharp and to the point. Thank you and keep it up.

Dan Milnor is a colleague and friend from afar to me - His insights pretty much align with mine (We both started out in Photojournalism) and like him, I now concentrate on documentary and street photography along with documentary Portraiture. I recently switched to Fuji's fast primes and a couple of old X-E2's and the IQ off those "ancient" cameras/sensor blows away anything I saw out of newer tech cameras. I'm still on the fence about the XPro vs the XE series bodies... Maybe the XPro offers some additional things (I really wish I had dual card slots, but when I shot a trio of Olympus Pen-f's in my work, they too only had one card slot and I NEVER had an issue).

Literally just about to get back into cameras and I'm taking the plunge with an xe4 to start with. Would love an xpro as to me it not only looks the part but has the majority of the features you will ever need. Only reason I'm going for the xe4 barring price is I'm hoping that the xpro4 has the focus stacking feature of the xt4, and maybe a screen I can flip around to face me so that I can check stuff like focus bracketing a bit more comfortably when it's on a tripod. As far as workhorses get though the xpro lineup is about as good as it gets, other than maybe the 50r. Awesome channel man!

agree. The title is hyperbole. The X-T3/4 is the true king of versatility.
@willstith12 жыл бұрын
I think it really depends on if you're counting video. If vid is involved then 100% it's XT line. But for just stills I think they're close.
@vikdaddy2 жыл бұрын
@@willstith1 Not really. Rear screen that's always visible, and articulates. centre EVF so left-eye dominant people are better off. Stabilised (X-T4). Better handling. List goes on. I love my X-Pro3 but I'm not going to pretend it's supremely versatile.
@DeeRosa2 жыл бұрын
I think too much is put into complaining about the screen. The X-Pro is a better street camera and one of the best. Even more it is the exact same in every other spec at the XT line besides ibis while staying smaller. So where is the XT line better? Record times are close enough. Still similar bit rate and everything for video. Just missed a 3.5mm Jack but again it’s not the BEST at video but it isn’t bad at all? So where besides that is the x-t4 better?
@DeeRosa2 жыл бұрын
Missed the point of the vid unfortunately. Center EVF bs rangefinder style is preference. Rear screen being visible isn’t that important to me and lost of others. Stabilizing is great and I think the x pro handles better. Ignoring that it’s smaller and better and beats out the xt4 for street makes it seem worse but like I said it checks a lot of boxes without being the best at all and performs similar in every way to the xt4. That’s the whole point. The xt4 is better for some. But not by much and I’d never use it for street personally.

Good stuff. My cousin is a professional sports photographer. He shoots Soccer from MLS, Premier league, La Liga and so on and he told me he had a Sony for a while and it actually shot too many frames for him. He got rid of it. He actually does most of his work film. I also have the X-pro 3 and I love it for similar reasons although I don't shoot sports. I saw the new camera they announced yesterday and for me all of those features are things I genuinely would never use. I also don't understand why people complain so much about the auto focus on Fuji. I have a Sony camera as well and I guess the auto focus is better but tbh I really can't tell the difference. Maybe if I was shooting wildlife and needed animal and bird eye autofocus.
@DeeRosa2 жыл бұрын
It’s just the east thing to nitpick because Sony is known for its AF. But same here - sometimes there are too many images when at the end of the night I have to spend hour culling thru 20 frames on the same one motion and now I have to delete 19.

Hi Dee, I'm new to your channel and really finding your videos very useful. I'm an enthusiast photographer who mainly shoots street, portraits, family and sports. The latter my kids soccer and basketball games. I am also slowly transitioning from Sony to Fuji, hence came across your channel. This video of yours particularly caught my attention, as although i LOVE the rangefinder style cameras, I initially overlooking the XPRO3 assuming it couldn't handle sports. Could you please help clarify how the XPRO3 handles the fast burst shooting and buffering of raw and jpeg files? Also which lenses would you recommend for soccer? I'm coming from the Sony A9 and 100-400 GM, 135 GM, 35 GM, 20 G lenses. The Sony was great in terms of AF/tracking, but I really hated the IQ coming out of this camera, and the colours ... sucked! Keen to hear your thoughts.
@DeeRosa2 жыл бұрын
The x pro 3 handles it just like the xt4, Xt3, etc. they’re stil all the same sensors with similar processors. Fujifilm doesn’t brick it’s cameras to protect others. So it handles just fine and exceeds a lot of expectation. When it comes to lenses I’d recommend the 50-140 and then whatever lens equivalents you want. I only shoot with that 50-140 and a 23mm and call it good. I don’t like to carry lots of gear because if I’m switching lenses I’m having to change my perspective. More than anything sports photography is about anticipation of where to be than it is about letting the camera do the work. Thats how you capture key moments so that you don have to sort thru 1000000 similar images of people swinging a bat or running.

Let me ask, I just watched a video you made 9months ago saying if the xt4 was out at the same time you wouldn’t have bought the x pro 3. You also mentioned that the x pro 3 stayed at home while you reached for the xt4. I didn’t finish the video but since this one here was made 12 days ago, I’m just curious. Right now if you had the choice in your opinion, for someone in the market for one of these cameras, would you recommend an x pro 3 or an xt4 ? For stills only, no video at all.

I actually didn’t say that about the X-T4. I don’t like the X-T4. I said that about the X-H1 because of the work I was doing which involved video and sports and I love the X-H1 sensor. Between the X-Pro 3 and the X-H1 I prefer the X-Pro 3 for stills only. But just to be clear I never recommended or used the X-T4. I actually thought it performed bad the three times I used it.

@@DeeRosa sorry let me rephrase. The skilled photographer is like the surgeon, but they wouldn’t use 70s equipment to perform surgery today. However, the X pro 3 is nothing like 70s equipment. anyways that’s not really important. the 5th Gen sensor is probably gonna be amazing. I’m watching this video to persuade myself to get the X PRO 3. I just downgraded from XT4 to XT30ii because I don’t like the articulating screen and the size. Oh I see what you’re saying - it still doesn’t correlate completely because no one’s life depends on a photo being taken. But I would use a camera from the 70s or a lens. I would allow a photographer from the 70s to take my photo. So I understand what you’re saying but it isn’t as drastic. Still follows tho that you have to get the shot regardless.
@primefotoNL2 жыл бұрын
A good surgeon from the 70s can still fix you erupted appendix without any problems and safe your live doing so or do CPR, incubate, etc. For that you do not need the most modern materials or tech. Yes, i would let the surgeon from the 70s work in me. He has a lot more experience and practice. The same goes with photography. If you give me an old camera i can still make a great picture. If you give someone, who does not have the knowledge and skills, a old camera they wont get a great picture. Most people do not even know how to use a hand held light meter anymore. The fastest focus mode is manual focus, Use pre focus, zone focus or the hyper focal distancing to get the fastest focus possible. Faster than any AF system. Most old school shooters know how to do that and practiced that. If you understand those kinda techniques you won't need the fastest AF system or camera for that matter. Than you can shoot sports with any camera, even a technical camera. I think this is what Dee Rosa is trying to tell us and i totally agree with that.
@alanc64162 жыл бұрын
@@primefotoNL I agree. The analogy was not serious, and only points out the equipment does make a difference, that’s all. Doesn’t mean older equipment doesn’t work.
