2019 - I bought both cameeas off Ebay for just under $500USD. I wanted the X-E2 to walk around with and X-T1 for more serious shooting. I think at these prices a great combo and A-B camera set if tjaing photos at events.

I disagree about the x-e2 flash. It is fine for fill light when you aim it up while shooting. In fact, it does a nice job of it..

Thank you for the great review. I just purchased the XT1 and wondering if I should have saved a few dollars and went with the XE2, which is why I am watching this video. One thing I might mention is that I don't understand everyone's complaint about the buttons in the back. I have the XT1 and have no problems with them at all. In fact I like the way they work. In fact, the only issues i have with the XT1 is I wanted to travel lighter, which is why I wanted to switch from DSLR to mirrorless, and this isn't a light packer at all. But it is well made and beautifully designed. Overall a wonderful camera.

Bernard Hunt - The original units didn't have any click feedback like I show in the video - newer units are much better hence the legacy complaints. With that said, I have the XE2 and have no regrets as the image quality is the same yet the package is much more more compact - yes, the XT1 is an excellent and fun to use camera but it's DSLR size so it kinda defeats the purpose.

Ron Martinsen Thank you Ron! That brings me to another question for you. What about the XE1 as a backup for me. I can get it with the 18-55 lens for just a few dollars more and much less costly than the XE2. Is the main difference the supposed focusing speed? Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Good and concrete comparaison, Ron I am just evaluating to by one of that interchangeable lens Fuji, just because I love my X100S. I still using Canon gear for my professional work but this is a quite interesting option Regards from Buenos Aires

The spongy nondescript buttons will be because of some weathersealing. The OM-D E-M5 was similar in this regard. Not sure why the buttons are so flush to the body though.

the reason they found a need for the change in the directional pad was for weather-sealing, it wasn't just change for the sake of change. I agree it's not for the better but just wanted to share that there was a reason behind it.

Early copies seem to have had an issue that doesn't exist in later models.

Ron Martinsen How Early? My serial number places my date of manufacture to 1st qtr of 2014 and my D-Pad is great. It feels positive and definitely clicks.

Is the X-E2 still a good buy in 2017? Thinking of buying it and pairing it with a XF35 F2. Thanks.

Yes good decision it's basically and xt1 and xt10 in a smaller body and the 35mm prime lens should be fine, however I recommend the 50mm just for the longer focal range

You are not comparing like for like!!!! X-T1 is more like a DSLR, comparison should be with Olympus OMD, not with what is basically a digital rangefinder akin to Fuji X100s, and obviously X-E1 or XPro-1.

This was a comparison of two Fujifilm camera models for those who are trying to decide between getting an X-E2 or the more advanced X-T1. Personally I opted for the X-E2. At their core they are very similar and both use X-Mount lenses. The x100s doesn't have interchangeable lenses.

I prefer the x-e2. The dial locks on the top of the x-t1 I hate with a passion. I would never buy another camera with those.

I quickly sold my x100 because of the dial button and the Menu/OK button i the middle. A total disaster. 5 of 10 times hit or miss and opening the meny again instead of ok:ing it to close. The Dial is exceptionally bad for big fleshy thumbs and its exactly the same size of the outer bevel (Wich doesent do anything). Its made for bony girly thumbs, not the average North European manly hands.
