I think I will end up getting an X-T50. Thanks for the great review. I was thinking about getting an X-T30II, but lower megapixel and no IBIS are disappointing. Then I was thinking about getting an XT-5, due to weather sealing and better battery, but it's not as compact as the X-T50. The price might be a bit hard to swallow, but I think this camera is perfect for people who want portability with the latest features. Sacrifices must be made somewhere.

Good to see you as always Luca. Excellent review, definitely second to none (and I did watch a few). For now I’m still waiting to see what the X-T6 brings to the table, the X-T4 that I’m currently using has yet to let me down. On a separate note, I’ve using the XF16-50 for the past couple of weeks and it doesn’t disappoint, great lens for just walking around doing street “stuff” and photography in general (I love the internal zooming mechanism), only a few times I found that I should’ve brought the XF16-80 with me for the extra reach instead, but as they say, first world problems. Be well and stay safe.

Speaking as a Fuji user, the X-T50 makes more sense now the price of the X-T5 has returned to normal I love the sensor on the X100 VI However I find the difference between the X-T3 and X-T5 is less, when the final image is presented to customer. Let me explain when I shoot with the X-T3/5 I am using the right lens for the job, so their is minimal to no cropping in post, and I shoot 90% in the studio. Printed to 16" x 12" is our normal print size and it would be almost impossible to tell the difference between the cameras. However, with the X100 VI sometimes I have to crop and having 40MP gives so much more flexibility. One of my colleagues who shoots wildlife loved the upgrade from the X-T3 to X-T5 as wildlife needs to be cropped. He was getting better results shooting with the X-T5 and cropping in post than he was using the X-T3 with the 1.4X TC And using the X-T5 and cropping in post was producing better results than the X-T5 using the 1.4X TC and losing a stop of light. back to the subject. X-T50 or X-S20 - If you are lens limited the X-T50 gives you much more cropping options If you are not lens limited then it is dealers choice if you want a mid range camera, video first maybe lean X-S20, photo first X-T50 2nd shooter/body camera, I used to like always using the same sensor so editing was easier, but I don't find huge differences to the colours or editing process Now there is a £400 price difference, you can have the X-T50 with kit lens or X-T5 body only, or pick up X-T50 body only, plus a prime lens The Price difference is pretty much the same between all the previous X-T cameras... the X-T3 was £400 more than the X-T30 only difference was they were both £300-400 cheaper at launch

Well, you've got a tiny beast (digital) and a proper beast (film). I definitely get why having such a small combo may be a big relief for you at times
@mikefoster601815 күн бұрын
Love this. I use an X-T5 and love the small-ish, ergonomic form factor for long walks with it in my hand. Seems like the X-T50 gets that right too and, with a small lens, could even be pocket-carryable. I think I'd prefer the top-left dial to be ISO or custom groups, not film simulations, but appreciate they're trying to make it intuitive and appealing to casual snappers. And, if I'm honest, I rarely use my X-T5's custom groups anyway (because I'll just edit good pics on my PC) and I tend to use the ISO dial only for very slow or very fast moving subjects or horrible light because, otherwise, the AutoISO options work so well. (I tend to run my camera on DR400 all the time, having seen Pal2Tech etc demonstrate its benefits, and that defaults me to a higher minimum ISO - so it's quite nice to have a manual ISO dial for when I want to override that).
@LucaPetraliaPhotography15 күн бұрын
The top left dial is very divisive. I'm finding I like it there for the simulations, but I understand why you'd prefer the other way around. As for the camera, it's a mini X-T5, I'm loving it

Bought it, tried it, but the dials were so flimsy, and used to the good control of my canons, that I exchanged it for the smallest fullframe canon, the R8, with a rf 28 2.8. But still, very nice camera.

I've been a DSLR user (Hasselblad/Canon) for many years and was fully driven by PASM and always shot manual - having bought the X-T50 - "the ease of use"-part - I don't see, it took me a day or 2 to understand how to shoot fully manual and found that I am not as flexible and fast as I used to be and really have to get used to it. I can tell that fully manual is not their target audience. However, what they have put in this small package is nothing less than an achievement. The thing is loaded with features and customizations (I would say too many, because it can become confusing quickly) and image quality is great, which is the only thing that matters in the end.
@LucaPetraliaPhotography6 ай бұрын
Believe me, you'll end up loving the dials. It's a hard thing to change our mind after years of use of a different system, but give it time and it'll grow on you. Alternatively, put all the dials on A and use the front and rear dial. That will be more similar to what you're used to. That being said you're right, is a feature packed camera and it sometimes seems confusing. It's an issue with all the modern mirrorless cameras... They can do it all, and that becomes almost an issue for those who don't use all of those features

@darekw19673 ай бұрын
@@LucaPetraliaPhotography That's why I turned on airplane mode, so the camera wouldn't waste extra energy searching for wireless connections. However, transferring files via cable is a completely different matter. The manufacturer combined these two functions into one. Another issue I noticed is that in video mode, the left dial for switching filming modes doesn't work. By default, it's disabled, and there's no way to enable it. There's a method, but it's illogical and contradicts the information given in the menu.

Why would the Voigtlander Color Skopar 18mm f/2.8 be considered weak for Fuji? The name 'Color Skopar' itself suggests that it's a sharp lens from edge to edge. In my case, I have the Voigtlander Heliar 15mm f/3,5 do Leica M, which covers full-frame, and on APS-C it's even sharper from edge to edge

@@ianforber Lenses with the LEICA M mount are optically outstanding and cover an area larger than full-frame, making them even better for APS-C, and Voigtlander offers superb microcontrast.
