I got the X-T50 two weeks ago and it’s been a real joy to use everyday! And I really do enjoy using the film simulation dial. The new kit lens is brilliant. Plus when I put the 27mm f2.8 pancake lens on it, it’s such a tiny but powerful kit. It’s become my everyday carry camera.

Great lens! 😊 I'm getting 27 and 18 maybe 50 later but those compact lenses are so nice, I'm getting my XT50 tomorrow can't wait after trying X30 but also XT30II so now I want to return to beautiful SOOC photos no editing @@LucaPetraliaPhotography

Speaking as a Fuji user, the X-T50 makes more sense now the price of the X-T5 has returned to normal I love the sensor on the X100 VI However I find the difference between the X-T3 and X-T5 is less, when the final image is presented to customer. Let me explain when I shoot with the X-T3/5 I am using the right lens for the job, so their is minimal to no cropping in post, and I shoot 90% in the studio. Printed to 16" x 12" is our normal print size and it would be almost impossible to tell the difference between the cameras. However, with the X100 VI sometimes I have to crop and having 40MP gives so much more flexibility. One of my colleagues who shoots wildlife loved the upgrade from the X-T3 to X-T5 as wildlife needs to be cropped. He was getting better results shooting with the X-T5 and cropping in post than he was using the X-T3 with the 1.4X TC And using the X-T5 and cropping in post was producing better results than the X-T5 using the 1.4X TC and losing a stop of light. back to the subject. X-T50 or X-S20 - If you are lens limited the X-T50 gives you much more cropping options If you are not lens limited then it is dealers choice if you want a mid range camera, video first maybe lean X-S20, photo first X-T50 2nd shooter/body camera, I used to like always using the same sensor so editing was easier, but I don't find huge differences to the colours or editing process Now there is a £400 price difference, you can have the X-T50 with kit lens or X-T5 body only, or pick up X-T50 body only, plus a prime lens The Price difference is pretty much the same between all the previous X-T cameras... the X-T3 was £400 more than the X-T30 only difference was they were both £300-400 cheaper at launch

Just got the X-T50 yesterday as I really enjoy a small light camera with plenty of dials that reminds me of an SLR. It will fit great in my kit, especially since I carry around an extremely heavy Pentax 67.

I think I will end up getting an X-T50. Thanks for the great review. I was thinking about getting an X-T30II, but lower megapixel and no IBIS are disappointing. Then I was thinking about getting an XT-5, due to weather sealing and better battery, but it's not as compact as the X-T50. The price might be a bit hard to swallow, but I think this camera is perfect for people who want portability with the latest features. Sacrifices must be made somewhere.

Good to see you as always Luca. Excellent review, definitely second to none (and I did watch a few). For now I’m still waiting to see what the X-T6 brings to the table, the X-T4 that I’m currently using has yet to let me down. On a separate note, I’ve using the XF16-50 for the past couple of weeks and it doesn’t disappoint, great lens for just walking around doing street “stuff” and photography in general (I love the internal zooming mechanism), only a few times I found that I should’ve brought the XF16-80 with me for the extra reach instead, but as they say, first world problems. Be well and stay safe.

I've been a DSLR user (Hasselblad/Canon) for many years and was fully driven by PASM and always shot manual - having bought the X-T50 - "the ease of use"-part - I don't see, it took me a day or 2 to understand how to shoot fully manual and found that I am not as flexible and fast as I used to be and really have to get used to it. I can tell that fully manual is not their target audience. However, what they have put in this small package is nothing less than an achievement. The thing is loaded with features and customizations (I would say too many, because it can become confusing quickly) and image quality is great, which is the only thing that matters in the end.

Believe me, you'll end up loving the dials. It's a hard thing to change our mind after years of use of a different system, but give it time and it'll grow on you. Alternatively, put all the dials on A and use the front and rear dial. That will be more similar to what you're used to. That being said you're right, is a feature packed camera and it sometimes seems confusing. It's an issue with all the modern mirrorless cameras... They can do it all, and that becomes almost an issue for those who don't use all of those features

Le problème du XS 20 que j’ai comparé physiquement avec le XT50 et qu il est plus tourné video avec son écran arrière, beaucoup moins compact une ergonomie PASM contraire à l’esprit Fuji et accessoirement beaucoup moins jolie !

Bought it, tried it, but the dials were so flimsy, and used to the good control of my canons, that I exchanged it for the smallest fullframe canon, the R8, with a rf 28 2.8. But still, very nice camera.

How is the build quality of XT50? I didn't like XT30 series because they feel very plastic. I have XH2, like its solid build and great EVF but it is a little big for causal usage.

I bought the X-T50. When I use non Fuji lenses...the LCD preview doesn't work properly. It doesn't show the actual preview, that is the LCD stays the same regardless of me changing ISO, Shutter or aperture. I know how to fix this on the kit lens, but I can't figure out how to get the LCD to preview the shot correctly. Any ideas? (I have live preview OFF)

Does the film sim dial allow you to change the other settings for each film sim? As if they were C dials but attributed to each film sim? Or simply changes the film.
@LucaPetraliaPhotography
@LucaPetraliaPhotography Ай бұрын
As of today it only allow you to change the film sim. You still have the chance to change parameters like shadows, highlight, noise and so on through the q menu. But those parameters tension global, so when you switch film simulations those remain unchanged.

Hi Luca, thanks a lot for another very thorough and deep dive review. I get your points and excitement, however for me this price (1500 € body only in Germany) is too high, especially, as you pointed it out, in comparison to the X-T5, which I own and love. I will take my ‚old‘ and trusty X-T20 as a back-up body to Iceland and it is great to hear that you got satisfying shots with it 😀.. and s you said.. time will show a decrease in the price of the X-T50.. let‘s see..

@@LucaPetraliaPhotography It's the double-whammy of a useless dial that also takes the place of a useful dial. I was happy with drive dial but this could've also easily been iso. Even just a blank customizable dial wouyld've been preferable. Anything but a baked-in film sim dial. It is the design equivalent of salting the earth. I haven't even mentioned the glaring omission of the d-pad yet. All they had to do was stick all the modern bells and whistles in an xt20...

Hello Luca, 1st time watching your vids. I just started doing some research on this xt50 recently and your review came right up!! Solid info/perspective after you working with it. I pre ordered the x100 vi the day it was announced (2/20/24) and just received a letter to expect it around October. It is not a huge necessity to have right now but WOW! seriously Fuji??! Anyway, when this t50 showed up i really want to give it strong consideration over the vi. Your review has me moving toward this possibility for size & features - Xt5 was 1st because of battery size and I’m also used to that XT series and dials. 🤔🤔 this little t50 is intriguing due to size with primes. Thanks so much for the fantastic breakdown of Pro’s/Cons 🙏🏼🫵🏼 now gonna go chk out your review on the 16-50mm lens option Have you tried the 15-45mm ‘kit lens’ ? i did not see a review for that one Sub’d ! 👍🏼

I tried the 15-45 and it's a lovely lens, but the new one is better. As for the x100vi, I ultimately chose the flexibility I get from the X-T50 over the x100vi, and I sold my copy of the x100vi

@@LucaPetraliaPhotography the 15-45 thought was simply for size in my mt. bike h2o pack for a bit of reach as a 1 & done for bike/hike type outings, i wasn’t sure if it was just ‘ok’ or actually pretty decent. I have some really nice primes for rest of daily use. sadly due to fuji stock issues in local brick/mortar camera shops i can’t get my hands these items to try out 😩☹️ thanks again for your prompt reply
