They improved everything that I couldn't care less about. :´D I have the X100F and I hate quite much about it. I don't like the autofocus in low light, since there is none. I also completely detest the user interface (too complicated and confusing) and the handling. And the ISO doesn't behave anything like I'm used to in other cameras. I doubt any of these things have been fixed in the V. Lens sharpness? Whatever. Tilt screen? Whatever. Better ISO dial? Whatever. That's how I feel about it. ;)

@SwitchRich I have an x100F and the attractive thing about it is the size and the way the camera feels like it disappears when you use it (as in it just gets out of the way). I love that I can throw it in my work bag or jacket pocket and not have it take up much space, and the 35mm equivalent is my favorite focal length for street photos anyways. The improvements here look huge - I definitely missed weather sealing in the F in particular - so I'm definitely looking into the potential upgrade here.
@arloharnish3 жыл бұрын
I got one of these cameras a year ago and have been using it consistently. I went from EOS to Fujifilm exclusively with the X100V. It's got my favorite focal length. (Well, I also like 40mm) and it's just amazingly easy to use. The most advanced thing I did was program the buttons for easy adjustments with settings. Everything else is easy to learn and to use. As you've probably heard before, the film simulations are great. (Except for the two black and white settings. I can't seem to figure out how to make it more contrasted. Anyway, I haven't really even begun to investigate that. It might be an easy fix.) The size and the classic nostalgia (It's shaped as if it were a smallish Lica) are also great things about it. It feels very inconspicuous and light on your body or in your pocket and it's simplicity lends itself to the classic photographers (who I admit I'm not too familiar with. Stephen Shore is more my thing.) But my point is that you feel like a street photographer how ever you're using it. And you can hearken back to 80 or so years that have passed when street photography was just starting it's maiden voyage in the context of history. It all feels like it's inherent to the camera in your hand.

10:10 Jordan, I would assume it’s because the 4 stop ND would prevent the phase detect AF from working. Making video AF non-functional. It would not get enough light. For stills the ND only pops in right before the shutter captures the image. You can see it going in and out each time you take a pic. It doesn’t stay in front of the sensor the whole time.

At the start Chris talks about the format of this episode (more about the experience and how you feel than the specs) and suggests it may be more useful than the traditional review video style, and I couldn't agree more. This is exactly what I need. I can glance at a spec sheet and tell if it meets my technical requirements. But this helps me determine whether I want to hold the camera in my hands, use it to take photos, and then do things with said photos. I watched the video, and now I do. Very much.

Just sold it recently and did not yet decided if I buy a used X 100 F or the X 100 V. Read a lot of articles stating yes "must do", and other others "not needed". But this video made the difference as you nicely compared image quality F vs V = so now it's clear: I will buy the X100V (to accomplish my X-T2). THX for a really nice video! Well done!

My main concern with previous x100 incarnations (I have owned every one since x100s) was the AF. It was often very unreliable, giving the green in-focus square, only when looking at it back home, the image was way out of focus. I really hope AF is much more reliable in x100V.
@armindevilla8257 Жыл бұрын
All the x series AF is sooo unreliable, dare I say pretty crap. Idk how people don't notice it... It can't even focus on a black edge in front of a white background in contrast mode. That is infinite contrast! And it just can't focus. Preposterous.

Nice upgrades. I'm also in the minority that really doesn't like the focal length. I understand that some people like fixed focal length and that this one works for what they do. I found it extremely limiting and sort of underwhelming for a travel camera. As noted, often it just wasn't wide enough or long enough. Good to see Fuji making useful and meaningful upgrades but I'll stick to interchangeable lenses.

I have a question, between the XT100V and XT-3, I'm not using it for professional use (maybe 50/50) but I am a beauty photographer and I need something for travel. For the XT100v, you can't use any other lens other than what it already has? I need something compact, and easy on the go post processing that I can just transfer to my phone. Shooting with a Sony A7rii and rii made that hard.
