16:06 “I wanna meet people, I wanna hear about their story, I wanna hear about what they’re doing, and the camera is the key to that. The camera is my passport. The camera let’s me into places and into peoples lives...” That quote pretty much sums it all up 😭❤️

What makes this video stand out is are the little stories about overcoming the challenges of the creative process. There is a honesty and vulnerably in the creative struggle, "another old guy taking a picture of a young girl." or "I don't have the camera gear" or "making friends with a case of beer and the instax." etc. And what camera manufactures don't want anyone to know, it isn't a 'gear' problem but a "mentality" problem. I really enjoyed the video.

That video was wonderful Zack. So honest, colorful and entertaining. In 2011 I brought my new Fuji X100 with me to Ubud and Kuta, Bali . I learned then that when you have a camera ready to shoot and people hardly notice it, I came home with not only more "keepers", but more interesting images. The camera exceeded my expectations and I was blown away that I could shoot clean color images at night with only available lighting. Well edited video and love final scenes of happy people and wonderful music. I think I'll watch it again...

Love the story about the Fuji project, the smoky woods shots were beautiful, but the Cuba video locked it out of the park. The little printer is a wonderful idea. Heck you probably sold a few of those for Fuji. My favorite shot was the B&W of the couple on the bike. I also appreciated the examples of how to photograph a car without photographing the car. Composition is mysterious in this way, so whatever you can do to help us understand it, is much appreciated. It would also be great if you could do more stories about projects like this one for Fuji. Good stuff!

Hey Zack - great to see you back on KZbin with another excellent video. It was your brilliant, inspirational “A camera walks into a bar...” review of the X100S and many previous Fuji videos that convinced me to sell all my Canon gear and buy an X-Pro 1 (with 35mm f/1.4 lens of course!) Since then I’ve had an X-Pro 2, XT2 and, my favourite of all, an X100F. All this is now going to be replaced with an X100V as I’ve finally come to embrace the “less is more” philosophy. And seeing what you’ve produced here in Cuba it absolutely proves that you don’t NEED two cameras and a bag full of lenses; just one camera and bagfuls of talent. The first bit is easy - you can just buy the camera, it’s the talent that’s harder to come by. So keep making more videos please Zack, and inspire us all Thank you, Andy Ps I also loved the grey haired, middle-aged guy and pretty girl bit. Simple stuff again but the results were stunning!

Outstanding video. It's made me really want to Fuji x100V even though I am too disabled to travel any more. It reminds me of the great point and shoot cameras of the days of film. I used to take one with me to places like Egypt and I made very good photographs. Never did the SLR camera with a dozen lenses like some of my richer friends did. Living within the limitations is possible and actually makes one think about better photos. Also - no one gets intimidated by a small camera.

I traded away my Fuji XE-2 and severally lens. G.A.S got the best of me and now I regret it and miss my Fuji gear. I saw this video when it was first published by Fujifilm when they released the V, but rewatching it today really confirmed my idea that I don't need full frame and a bazooka of a lens to get the shots that make me happy; also the printer is going a must now too! I always like hearing about your process. Thanks for sharing that Fuji promo video. The part about the kids on the street reminds me of a time my partner, Mike, was shooting film with his 5x4 Press camera and a really random thing happened. We were in Nova Scotia, it was low tide, and he was getting some cool landscape shots of the red mud and cliffs. He was quite a ways out. I could see all of it happening from the shore. This kid started walking out in the distance and was in his shot but Mike was using a tripod so was just going to wait it out. Then, the kid just whipped it out and started to pee - facing towards the camera (but seeming unaware of Mike's presence). Mike picked it all up and started walking back. Sometimes you can wait it out and sometimes you can't!

_"One great benefit of traveling with such a small camera is it's not intimidating at all when you pull this thing out. You're just somebody taking some photos with a little camera but the quality you get is equal to something that's much larger than this."_ I don't think you could've made a better video about the X100V because in your opening you nailed the superpower of the X100 series. I spent a couple of years wandering around Southeast Asia with a X100T and X-T1 and while as we all know the two cameras are very similar internally they're very different externally which can make a world of difference. Where people look at "professional" cameras with distrust people smile when they see a classic rangefinder like the X100V. I wandered through many wet markets with my X100T and no one ever gave me a second look. I wasn't a travel photojournalist to them, just another tourist. If you do another video about the X100V maybe you should build on what you've already seen as it's greatest strength: a wolf dressed-up as a friendly puppy. =)

Hi Zack, thx for your refreshingly different approach and authenticity! What I‘d be interested in is a mixed bag: - your general approach to focusing ie. AF (focus & re-compose) vs. MF (zone focusing), - use of film simulations and tweaking/ customizing thereof (in case you care at all about JPEGs...) - use of EVF vs OVF - composing a scene ie. Compose for background and then wait (Sam Abell) to achieve complex, layered images. - what FN settings / shortcuts you use Thank you.
