Hey Stefano, I shoot in full manual mode. I always have and so used to change all settings myself. Especially the shutter speed.

Hey, I used the Acros

A few days ago (five?), I turned my x100vi to black and white and I haven't looked back. I know that the raw will give me back the color if I need it, but switching to B&W made me work harder at composition. I was *cheating* a lot with color, and definitely not focusing beyond catching the colors I want. Moriyama says (and he's joking when he says it): Photography has to be black and white. He just prefers it. But it DOES make differences, doesn't it? I oved this post.

Hey Chris, yes I agree with you. When I fully shoot in black and white only, I see the world in a different way. Shape, light, texture and composition all play a bigger role when I shoot in bnw. I do love colour but black and white is always a good way to pay more attention to what you are actually shooting. Thanks for your comment and for watching! Catch you in the comments I’m sure 👍

A thoughtful and well paced video. Can’t beat the Barbican, I was there last weekend with my X100Vi also trying out some black and white shots. Quick question; for the photos in the video, did you use one of the in-camera presets, e.g. Acros, or a recipe?
@david_walsh7 ай бұрын
Hey Stephen, thank you for your nice comment. Good to hear you enjoyed it. Yeah totally agree, the Barbican is great! Will definitely shoot there more often. Yes, for this one I shot with the baked in Acros simulation and made some minor tweaks adjustments in LR using the raw files. But majority of them are Acros straight out of camera. Hope that helps. Are you enjoying your X100VI? Cheers again for watching!

@@david_walsh No worries. I’m liking it a lot; a definite improvement over the X100T I used to have. I tried a couple of B&W recipes but ended up tweaking the jpegs in Lightroom. I certainly like the idea of just shooting in mono, but I shoot raw and jpeg just in case.

Hey, I used Acros. I liked the look but will try out some of the other simulations too. Thanks for your comment!

@@david_walsh Hi, thanks, I use the Leica Q2 Monochrome simulation very often, some times a bit too B&W, but I like it Cheers Uwe
