Nice sample photos. I sold my X100V and purchased the XT30-II about a year ago as I needed (wanted) a second body that could share my lenses. I added the lens mate thumb rest, and it really improved the comfort and handling in my experience. I also purchased a 3rd party hand grip which I attach when using larger lenses. Glad you’re enjoying your kit.

I went through a similar journey that you did. I had the X100T and F and just felt that although the camera was limited, it felt TOO limited. No interchangeable lenses, outdated AF/menus, etc. This led me to wanting something that was similar size but would allow me to have different lens options, newer film sims, some video features, etc. Absolutely love my XT30ii and it comes with me everywhere too!

Here’s your click bait comment, you’re welcome 😂 they’re entirely different cameras, and the sensor is only part of the story. I own both and I still carry my X100V much more than the XT30ii. That being said, there’s a lot of versatility with interchangeable lens, and I use use the XT30ii when X100V just doesn’t work, such as stabilised videos (with OIS lenses) and when I need the zoom range. The XT30ii does NOT have all the features that the X100V have, most notably, is the killer F2.0 lens (totally different and superior than the very capable XF23 F2.0), a weather sealed compact body, with a built in 4 stops ND and 1/2000 flash sync capable silent mechanical leaf shutter. In a very common scenario when the subject is backlit (by the sun for example), the X100V can take a wide-open photo when the subject still visible with the built in flash. It’s not the most pleasing direct flash, but it’s totally workable in post. To create the same photo with the XT30ii, you’ll need to bring a powerful flash unit with flash sync that would weigh almost a kilo, and almost nobody does that on a trip. Ok, enough praise about the X100V 🤣, but since I have both cameras, I’m at least eligible to give some realistic thoughts. I would add that I’d get the XS20 for video, but I don’t like the articulating screen and the PASM dials (I downgraded from XT4 because of the size and screen) . I really don’t need the power of XT5 , so It’ll be great if Fuji can pack the XS20 power and IBIS in the XT40 In 2024??

Thanks for this great video! I've actually got an older school setup that's even less expensive and still fabulous: the X-T20. I've got a 27mm WR pancake on it right now and am having a blast using it. The 23mm F2 would also be outstanding and still quite small. Needless to say, I feel absolutely no need to "upgrade" to the X100V or the new VI.

@jayd1246
@jayd1246 16 күн бұрын
@@jimgunderson6439 If within your means, I would shoot for the XT50. It's basically a mini XT5 and will allow for more flexibility than the X100VI if you don't want to be stuck with a lens you can't remove and a nice upgrade over the XT30ll. To answer your first question, yes I still enjoy using the XT30ii, it's my EDC camera and very fun to use along with the film simulations and jpeg images it can produce like most Fuji cameras. When the time is right, I'll eventually go for the XT50 or wait and see if there's an XT6 release coming soon rather than later. Hope this helps a little.

@@jayd1246 I’ve started looking at the xt50 and looks nice. I like it for the most part but wish they would have kept the iso dial instead of king it a film simulation dial. How about the x5??? That might be a good option as well but a little larger than the x100 vi
@jayd1246
@jayd1246 15 күн бұрын
@@jimgunderson6439 The XT5 is a good option. You just have to make the decision on which camera comes close to checking off all your needs. My personal preference is having a small camera that I can grab on the go and the XT30II fit the criteria and gives more flexibility than the X100 models because I'm not confined to one lens. I was thinking about getting the XT5 myself but the X50 pretty much has the same specs and I get to keep the compactness and use as an EDC camera. I think they added the sim dial so they could have all the important settings on the right-side of the camera. This helps prevent you from having to move the camera away from your face to look at the settings and possibly miss the shot. You can easily switch between ISO and aperture on that front dial on the XT50. Just my thoughts on it.🤷‍♂ Hope you are happy with the camera you choose. If you decide on one of the smaller cameras, check out the Moments 2L Sling and Fanny Pack. It's what I throw my camera, phone, wallet, 1-2 batteries, AirPods and 2 lens filters in sometimes when I leave the house. Perfect if you are minimalist! Thank me later!👍

Haha! That's funny, I literally had all the same thoughts and desires you did about buying a jpg ready, vintage style, every day shooter a few weeks back. I went with a used X-T3, but I also bought the silver 23mm f/2 to match the camera. Having tons of fun experimenting with recipes and just enjoying the shooting experience. I'm not tempted to take these photos into light room, although I may make minor adjustments on my phone before posting.

I actually have both x100v & xt30 II, long story but i will say side by side, the xt30 is slightly sharper, not noticable by the untrained eye though. But i tend to grab the x100v more, mainly (for me) because of the leaf shutter. Being able to have a high shutter flash combo in body during twilight is when untrained eyes see the difference between a dedicated camera & phone lenses.

@@Jgheiler it might be slightly softer but the xf23mmf2 actually has 10 elements in the lens compared to 8 in the x100v. We're comparing 🍏🍎 here, so it's art & subjective. You missed a few main points of owning a X100 series over any other Fuji. 1. It’s different philosophy with range finder cameras, framing is different, one lens is restrictive in a creative way 2. X100v has a leaf shutter which opens a whole slew of creative possibilities 3. With additional screw-on filter X100V is water resistant and T30 is not 4. It has better build quality, all metal. Some X models are also metal but X100V is still different because of the above.

One thing nobody ever mentions is a lot of event venues (mainly concerts) don't allow interchangeable lens cameras. The X100V gets around that. Plus, it has a hybrid EVF. I sometimes miss my optical viewfinder from my DSLR

Just got the x100v at retail and I still think it’s over priced. My wife’s X-E4 with the 27mm pancake lens package for $1000 is the better buy for a small EDC. People spending $2000 to $2500 on eBay for a used x100v is crazy when you can cop an alternative with all the same features for less.

@@anthonymahieu8392actually the xt30 ii has everything you said it doesn’t. I bought one and I think I’m more happy with it than the x100v.
