I have the X30 version of this camera, and I couldn't agree more with your assessment. At its launch this camera was roasted for its 2/3" sensor size, but I bought the camera anyway, and couldn't be happier with the results, I've made some of my favourite images with it. The great thing is it shares the same romantic vibe and film simulations as the X100 line, but with the added versatility of a fast zoom. So nice to see you give the X30's older sibling, the X20, the love it deserves.

You hit it spot on. The was/is an underrated line of camera. It shows how well Fuji understood the market for photography enthusiasts and gave it features that stands the test of time. Its not just a computer its an experience.

(Un)fortunately X20, that I bought 2 years ago for 120 eur, near mint, become my preferred camera, I use it more than X-T2, X-T10, ... It is so usefull, not too small/not too big, retro looking and image quality is so surprisingly good. I printed 40x50 cm for exhibition, very good, nobody complaints.

Perfect point and shoot, with the ability to compose with zoom on camera. Amazing colours, and luminosity.

The X30 which I bought new eliminated some of the limitations you cite for the X20. Bright electronic viewfinder, flip screen, better LCD screen for three. And the 28-112 mm zoom makes cropping less necessary versus the fixed 35 mm lens X100f I bought to obtain better high ISO capability, which is less of an issue today due to modern noise reduction software. My X100f is now gone, and I am back to using the X30 instead. Great camera concept that Fuji should have upgraded to a larger sensor but didn't so that it would not compete with its more expensive replacement lens camera business and the higher priced X100 series.

Yes I will. It is superb carrying camera that is so beautifully built and made in Japan. Takes great photos. I still use it as my travel camera. 5 times optical zoom and leaf shutter with 1/1000 flash sync. What’s not to like.

I cannot find a small travel camera of equal or greater quality! I will take a 2/3 sensor with zoom and viewfinder over an APSC, fixed lens and NO VIEWFINDER. I have missed so many shots not having a viewfinder...shooting wide and hope for a good crop. GR3 success is just hype. Do the math....crop an APSC to 1/4 of sensor usage because gee, I really wanted to zoom in, and you have gained nothing from the big sensor. Technically Fuji has done a lot of engineering to get the best image out of the sensor. X30 is a camera that you need to be a photographer to use properly. BTW, my background was engineering before photography. X30 is a beauty....read the manual.

silent leaf shutter in combination with built in flash is the icing on the cake of this solid metal built little camera. Will never sell mine

Fujifilm cameras seem to be under rated compared to the big 5. I agree with the color & clarity of their cameras and lenses. The X-S1 I purchased a number of years ago has better color and sharpness my Sony's can't quite compete with. Thank you for the review of the earlier cameras. Cheers

Had an X10. Gave it to my then young teenage daughter who is now an older teenager. She loves it. She takes it whenever she can as an EDC. I miss it. These stylish, retro-looking rangefinder form cameras from Fujifilm and others (ex LUMIX GX series and LX100) seem to be the key to enticing younger photographers to choose a ‘real’ camera over an iPhone. It has been made clear to me that my 5DIII is definitely not cool!

Had X30. Twice. Loved everything but the picture quality was strange. I'm not a pixel peeper, but when I did...ouch. The 'knitting' effect is real. It's a shame though. It really is a lovely camera.
