Looks like for what the X-M5 is trying to do, it really nails it out of the park. You have a camera that's affordable, that has a lot of power in video modes, sufficient power in stills for burst rate and autofocus, but adds a lot of creative options particularly for newer shooters. Add in the mic and headphones jacks, and it's compelling in it's class. I mean, it's no X-T5 or X-Pro4, but it wasn't trying to be. IBIS wouldn't have hurt, but for the price and the size and the class of camera it's shooting for, seems like the X-M5 accomplishes it's goals.

I’m considering picking one up for stills & family shooting since I find my Ricoh missed focus too much but I still want small as possible. No beginner vlogger cares about 6k open gate or 10 bit files. And no beginner photographer cares about how many frames per second they can get or the difference in color science. The vlogger just wants a camera that gets him. And the photographer just wants to nail the shot. Again, it’s just my opinion, but I think most people would agree with me.

Hmmmm, no reviewer mentions the 1/4 being super close to the battery door. Guess that doesn’t matter. Great review!!

Oh, I wish this was a Sony! I was really disappointed by the ZV-E10 II for the lack of the mechanical shutter and the high price. The X-M5 is exactly what I wanted the ZV-E10 II to be, but since I use it as a second body to my a7IV I will keep my ZV-E10 mark I and maybe upgrade to the a6700 some day.

Not gonna lie... the image quality took a HUGE hit when you turned on e-stabilization. Wow, I really hope they fix that before release.

I have a x-m1 since 2013, and it's a great camera. Literally I don't need anything else. Now I'm thinking about a new one looking mainly for a better video quality. The option was x-s20, but now I think that x-m5 could cover all my requirements (I would love to have IBIS, but...), and maybe the batteries will be interchangeable. By the way, the x-m1 had a flash which worked well. The x-m5 doesn't.

With how the X100 has been nearly unobtainable for years and how few of those people would have used the X100's more "pro" features, this should be a really great alternative to satisfy those who have been waiting months/years.

Camera looks great, Best image in an ultra compact body. I was looking for this. I can understand the IBIS thing. Too bad for screen resolution. I'd pay more for a better screen. No need for EVF in this camera as size is priority. Missing on the sceen, 400MBs Intra, and limited 3:2 OG without 16/9 and DCI 6K crop. Great video, laughed. Hats off guys

10:45 No Jordan, that was your greatest idea ever. I would like a full PetaPixel Christmas album with Chris on the beats and your dulcet tones belting out all the classics.
