I preorded the XT5 and have been using it almost daily. I have take thousands of photos. a bit of video and a few thousand more photos. Probably easily 100,000 photos plus. I have found that the XT5 is about perfect for me. I am a busy Dad with 4 kiddos in every activity. So I cover everything from football games to show choir, Dance and Cheer, Marching band, Portrait and landscape. The XT5 is great to grab and get the photo or take a bit of time and create your photos and both turn out great. It has captured thousands of fleeting moments and is a very versatile tool that is a part of the family now. LOL

Well done! I’ve been on a similar path myself. I own several cameras across multiple brands. Took an almost three year break from Fuji but after experience with the X-T5 and X-H2S, they completely won me over and currently my favorite cameras to shoot with. I just started shkoting with the 27mm f1.2 Viltrox and I can honestly say it’s the closest I’ve come to full frame with an APS-C sensor camera when it comes to sharpness, details and dynamic range. I’m ignoring the full frame snobs. This camera system is amazing! Plus the added bonus of compact size and affordable lens options!

A week ago I bought my first camera in life, a Fuji XT5 with a 35 mm F.2 prime lens and Godox TT685II flash , it is beautiful, my first impression in the store when they took it out of the box and I held it in my hands (I had never touched a professional camera of any brand before) was that it is a premium camera and the quality is noticeable to the touch and sight. I am happy to have chosen this brand after several months of watching videos, reading forums and studying photography.

I’m thinking of doing the same thing. Is there really nothing you miss about Sony? I have an A7IV with a 35mm 1.4 GM. A few months ago I picked up a X100V and haven’t used my Sony since. I only shoot photography and I love my experience with Fujifilm so far. Is the autofocus just as good on the XT5?

@@Jcas93 very interesting topic. I have an a7IV with GM lenses (24,35,50,85) and I wouldn't replace it now. But I don't always want to take everything with me in the future and expand the system. I was also thinking about buying an additional x100v, but currently my heart beats a little more for the Q3 (design, workmanship, feel) and am planning it for 2024. The a7IV with the 35GM is incredibly good, you just have to invest a lot of time in post-processing. With the x100v, the image is already finished with the film simulation, which saves a lot of time if you don't want to sit at the PC again afterwards.

Gotta love the Fuji colours. Sony just feels uninspiring. I had the A7iv and it was clinically brilliant. But not fun. I’d love to see other manufacturers add film simulation to their cameras in body. The ZVE1 footage looks sublime. Nice colour matching to Fuji. Random question…has there been a firmware update to allow the cinematic vlog ‘looks/luts’ in normal filming modes? I.e without the added black bars? Many thanks.

Nice shots from around the harbour. I’ve had both Fuji and Sony systems are both are good. The biggest difference for me was the Sony full frame is better for low light and uses a different iso scale, and much more reliable for subject detection and autofocus tracking. The Fujis feel better built and have a unique control layout.

I have a question: I record lengthy nature scenes (birds, squirrels etc) and need a camera that will record continuously for several hours. I currently use the Sony A6400 which will record for 10 hours straight on a 256GB Card and on A/C power. I would prefer to use my Fujifilm XT2 with unlimited A/C power via the battery grip, as it’s got much better quality but the video time limits make it impractical to press record every 30 minutes. I’ve heard that the XT5 has no video recording time limits (until battery exhausts or memory card fills up) but has no power grip to plug in a/c power. Can the xt5 connect to A/C power, enabling several continuous hours of recording footage? If not, can you recommend a camera (preferably from the fujifilm family) that can? Thank you.

Have my r6 with 200k shutter wear, need to swap some lenses for different focal length and this got me thinking if should not try something else. I love the form factor of fuji cameras, some of their f2 lenses are so tiny and great for travel or whole day shooting that it really makes me tempted to give it a try. Any thoughts on the differences between fullframe and aps-c so far? Missing the shallow depth of field sometimes? Having hard times in lowlight? Would be really grateful for any thoughts

Great photos, I really love your new style, seems much more oriented towards geometry, composition and concept than in the past, great job! I've been shooting in 4x5 for my professional work (mainly commercial photos), which is omnipresent these days, to simplify the workflow. I achieve that by putting a piece of tape on my a7iv screen. Pro tip: if you display 4x6 grid it's easy to position that, too by taping one row off :-D But jokes aside, I completely agree with your reasoning on 4x5, I just don't get why this option of custom aspect ratio is not there on Sony cameras while we do have 1x1 or 16x9 already. XT5 is a very nice camera, and it seems it fits your creative style now very well, especially as you have another camera just for video. As a long-time XT2 shooter, as much as I love the form factor, I consider Fuji overall a worse deal, however. Lenses are technically inferior (e.g. AF speed, resolution) and more expensive than their Sony counterparts. And those are, to be precise, not G-master lenses but G line. Take, for instance, 56 1.2 vs 85 f/1.8 or XF 8-16 f/2.8 vs 12-24 f/4.
@MitchLally9 ай бұрын
I actually used to do the exact thing - I didn't use tape but I just used the 4x6 grid and ignored the bottom row of the grid while framing - not optimal as you still need to crop when you get to LR but an easy work around.

Great video as always. I would be interested to know your thought process on why not the a7r5 with you being already invested in the Sony ecosystem. I went from a Fuji xt2 to a Sony a7r5 and Im really happy about it although it was a costly move of course. And that was after trying out an xh2s. If staying with Fuji, I would have probably gone for the xh2 but all my lenses would not have been optimal for the higher resolution. Just interested. 😊

A few things threw me off for this camera.No charger comes with it, I shoot an xt3 and shoot paid professionally as you do, the xt3 was a bit awkward to hold, especially when I add a light, soft box and diffuser on top. If I add a 16-55 or 50-140 this camera would be a bit off holding. They made the body more plasticity for some reason and lack of a grip for an option is odd as well. I'm glad people are enjoying Fujifilm.
