For me, i pick the Sony A6700 because Sony has a wider variety of zoom lenses for my applications. Sony has a 10-20mm, 18-200, 18-135, & 70-350mm. But Tamron and Sigma also has some Sony A6xxx compatible lenses.

A little repair. The X-T5's sensor is also BSI. At the beginning of the video, it makes no mention of that detail (on the Sony a6700, yes) and may give the wrong idea that the X-T5's sensor is not BSI.

The Fujifilm X-T5 does have a crop at 4K 60p. I think the official specs are wrong - they say 1.1 with DIS off and 1.0 with DIS on, which makes no sense as DIS should add more of a crop. So my X-T5 has a 1.14 crop with DIS off, and 1.25 crop with DIS on. I never apply DIS - if it is still not good enough perform digital stabilisation in post. So a 1.1 crop is not significant enough for me for it to make a difference. I shoot at 120 and 240 rarely, so HD is sufficient for me. You really have to start cracking up shutter speed at those frame rates anyhow. The big downside of the A6700 is the EVF and LCD which made me write it off. At least one of them should have been as good as, or better than the competition. The LCD will be unviewable in bright sunlight as it is so poor, then you have to revert to the poor EVF.

I shoot with XT-4 for my company. I always enable the autofocus but unless I’m on a manual lense. I control the focus box manually where it should go while the camera was on record. So yeah if the only benefit of Sony camera was the auto focus then it doesn’t please me at all. I never use eye tracking cause sometimes in crowded area the autofocus will pick up someone else’s face. But I still think on the log profile, Sony still have slight edge over Fuji when you want to reproduce an FX6 or Venice cinematic approximate look in post which I like a lot. SOOC film emulation, Fuji gets the W hands down.

Thank you for this video. I am a Fuji user. So I have Fuji glass. It is generally agreed Sony has the best autofocus. If that was the only feature people cared about then almost nobody would buy anything other than Sony bodies. You have to look at the camera and ask, overall, do I like this camera and what I can do with it? I try to follow what all the manufacturers produce. The Sony A6700 looks like a potent camera. So does the Fuji XT5. That being said, at this point, I’m stay with my XT4. It does everything I need it to do. The XT4 can do things I don’t know how to make it to do. Honestly, the sony barely keeps up with Fuji’s entry-level APSC camera - the XS20. So, compared to the XT5, I’d consider this a no contest, and a switch to be a massive downgrade. Here’s the xs20 vs the a6700. XS20 ($1,299): -Shoots 4k DCI 24/30/60, and 6k 24/30 -6k Open Gate recording -Shoots True 24 frames per second -Has ProRes Raw recording output -Nearly 3x the burst capability (30fps v 11fps) -16bit raw files (stills) v a6700’s 14bit. -Uncompressed RAW shooting -*Automatic* Subject Detection (birds, planes, bikes, cars, insects, people, dogs, etc) -Compatible with fuji’s cooling fan attachment -Built in flash -80% higher resolution LCD -50% more battery life -Premium APSC lenses -Has a joystick -$100 less A6700 ($1,399): -Having 4k 120 (although at a sensor readout smaller than m4/3) -Able to use Sony’s fullframe lenses -Focus breathing compensation -Autoframing in video -Import LUTs -Better autofocus performance

Whats the point of having higher burst speed when auto focus sucks?
@Eyeofkamau
@Eyeofkamau Жыл бұрын
@@replay0712 it doesn’t… and I speak from experience with both systems. Another system having better AF doesn’t deem the other’s horrible. They are both great, Sony’s is just better (although Sony’s struggles too, it isn’t perfect). Could Fuji’s AF be greatly improved? Of course. But I do an array of demanding work and have not had an issue with it. Also, there is far more to a camera than AF. Really seems like that’s all most people have on Fuji too - AF complaints, and majority of them are just talking. I can knit-pick numerous “What’s the point of that, when this” about the a6700. I can say “what’s the point” of Sony’s entire APSC line, to be quite frank. Will I? No, because it serves it’s purpose; but it’s clear as day it isn’t important to them. You’ll find sony shooters saying this themselves in sony forums, so it’s not just me lol. It’s as if sony created the line just to keep having their monopoly feet in every puddle possible, leading to cheaply built, watered-down byproducts when they’re near last on the list of priorities. But, their marketing budget seems to cover it up well.

You can give all the specs you like, but that 'better autofocus performance' snuck in there like it's no big deal, and but one of many features is extremely misleading. For me, with our first baby, outstanding autofocus is an absolute necessity. The Sony A6700 basically almost never misses focusing on my daughter's eyeball, no matter how much she's moving her head, and that same near-perfect autofocus also applies to video. I'm getting priceless photos and 4K footage of her that is all in focus. That's worth gold to me.
@Eyeofkamau

@@Moshe_Dayan44 nothing got snuck in there like it was no big deal lol, I included it. It’s a big deal to you but don’t project that idea onto me assuming I think it isn’t. I know how important autofocus can be. It’s great. Though, in my opinion, even with the better AF, it isn’t a camera I would take. Especially being someone that uses manual focus 95% of the time for both photo and video, and as someone that doesn’t have problems with fujifilm’s autofocus. And I say this as someone that shoots weddings and corporate events where accurate autofocus (when I use it) is critical.

The problem is that Sony spreads their camera line too wide... and then they need to justify the jump from a model to another by removing small features. slightly changing their camera body or... removing SD card ports... which is quite problematic in my opinion. They should just streamline everything. People are tired of having so many camera released while they pretty much all do the same thing...

Thanks for this review :)! Please do the following---go to any decent camera store that has these two cameras. Have them attach various lenses (18-135/70-350mm for sony's a6700) then carry the camera, heft it, feel it in your hands, and shoot some shots with it. Send those photos to yourself and compare the images. I did this 10 years ago with the a6000 and now always lean toward Sony A6000 series cameras because of SIZE AND WEIGHT! Size and weight enormously matter to me as an international traveler!!! If you are an international traveler AND wanting to maximize image quality (photo/video) I can't think of a smaller, more compact, lightweight camera than the A6700 with it's tiny zoom lenses (70-350mm-equivalent to 526mm; 18-135mm Sony, Sigma 30mm). I hate the look of larger cameras when shooting in other countries, and it becomes very tiring lugging around fat cameras that bounce off my body or waist. That size difference between the XT5 and the sony a6700 is SIGNIFICANT (along with the much heavier, longer zoom lenses by Fuji). Photographers with big cameras and lenses just do NOT blend in and you immediately set yourself apart from the culture (and make yourself a target for thieves---it has happened to me). Again, please go to a camera store and compare lots of cameras-how they FEEL in your hands! You may end up saying forget it to cameras and buy yourself an IPHONE 14 pro instead (a great camera).

@harshil102
@harshil102 Жыл бұрын
@@ThierryGibralta The kit (or kit style) zooms seem to be a bit bigger. Combined with the bigger body its self (XT, XH, XS) the combos can easily become larger and heavier than Sony A6x00 series because of the SLR style with bigger/heavier lenses. Of course there's the XE bodies too but then its a lot of similar rangefinder and control compromises to the Sony bodies. The XT-30(II) is what comes closest to Sony sizing while still maintaining some of the advantages of Fuji in the controls and SLR style. But then the EVF is worse than Sony's while taking up more space lol. I don't think the lenses alone are a big deal but combined with the bigger/heavier bodies, it's what makes me question trying out Fuji. It's all a set of compromises either way, I just feel like Fuji is sold to me with the X-T3/4/5 and it makes me want to switch. But when I actually think about the sizing, I'd be going with the X-T30 which seems to be a dead end right now and isn't notably better at much than the A6400 I have now besides the film sims.

I have the same thoughts as an a6000 owner. While the physical controls are very attractive on the Fuji, the size to get those isn't. Plus I've critically compared the photos from each and there isn't much of a difference. Fuji harps on the color science, but one of the best blind studies I've seen indicates most people slightly preferred the Sony ones. But it was so slight and colors can be changed easily. Now of Sony had the controls in a small camera like the a6000 I'd buy it in a minute. @@harshil102

Hey Thierry, so far i really like your channel, congrats! Really great work! But i'm a little bit disagree on the overheating. I would expect a little bit more details about the shooting scenarios. Since you have multiple options for the 4K on X-T5. And it is getting affected by the SD card toooo much. If your SD card is good, then the buffer will be released more quickly and it will allow you maybe 15-20% more time till you get a heat warning on X-T5 (which i had several times during our summer trip.) Let me tell (all of) you a story about my X-T5 when i first switched to the Fujifilm system a few months ago. Together with the body, i also bought some new SD cards because i've thought that my previous 128GB Sandisk Extreme Pro UHS-I cards will suffer from speed while recording 6K or 4K HQ. Without trying the Sandisk cards, I've bought 2 Sabrent 256GB UHS-II cards from Amazon with a very appealing deal. And went to the summer holiday to Turkey. Luckily i've also bringed my trusted Sandisk cards together with me. But unfortunately for the first half of the holiday till i realize the issues with those cards i had several corrupted audio issues on more than half of the videos i've shoot and lots of overheating issues. It was almost 40degrees celcius outside (i know it was pretty damn hot) and very humid but it just took 5mins before the camera shuts down itself while recording in 4K HQ and it was very disappointing for me. Since my previous camera was a Lumix G9 and it never gave me any overheating warnings on any of my recordings in 4K 4:2:2 10bit 30fps (in same hot environment last year) even during charing the camera at the same time. (What a camera it was, tomorrow they'll announce the Mark II version :)). I initially thought that it was one of the downsides of buying a small camera. And i've dropped the quality to normal 4K instead of 4K HQ. And starting from that point I was able to get 15-20mins partial recordings which was enough fine and cover my needs. One night i've started to move the recordings to the external ssd and realized that lots of vidoes have corrupted audios with lots of cracking sounds (both with the internal mic, a rode video micro and also with another lavalier.) Luckily, I didn't need to use the audios inside those videos but it could be a professional work as well. I cannot image how bad it might be. Anyways, i've tried lots of things and after changing the SD cards back to the old Sandisk ones, it seemed like that audio problem disappeared (at least for the 30 more test videos i've recorded with them.) Together with the fixed corrupted audio issues, i've seen that even in more hot days (over 41deg celcius) I was able to record more than 15mins in 4K HQ mode until I got a heat warning. And it took more than 20mins till the camera turned off itself. Long story short, it is still not what i've expected in terms of overheating, but I can live with it since i love the stills it produces. I'm just wondering how much better it can be with better SD cards. Maybe you can prep some video about it.

I have been used for 10 years with my trusty 5DMKII back then and have No Complain. Don't ever think get the lastest camera is Always Better than the Oldies Iconic ones...

If you don’t mind missing focus constantly the xt5 is really nice and has some great lens choices/film simulations.

Missing focus constantly. That is a bit misrepresenting of reality 😆 if you miss focus consistently then either your focus settings are incorrect or you are doing something wrong. It focuses. Not as good as sony for sure. But not “terrible” as some people put it

Sony colors still subpar to Fuji and Fuji has greater selection of superior glass whether its new or used.

It doesn't overheat in 10 min. Update the firmware and set the heat warning to high. A6300 however did overheat at 10min mark. Besides what are you filming in 4k 30 or 60 that needs to go longer than 10 min? You should be filming in 24 and use rest for slow motion. Lastly think about bandwidth and amount of info camera has to process especially if set to 10 bit. So yes chances are it's going to get hot it's not a pro camcorder with active cooling. This is expected but in the right hands totally usable.

I don't need XT5 40 mgp. Still very happy with XT-2 X-trans III sensor Made in Japan not in China. Btw, the build quality of Fuji XT-2 is much better than XT-5 cheapo nowadays.
