Great stuff! I am no where close to your level of skill and success, but I do have opinions lol! I like doing people photography, and I feel shooting with the view finder takes me out of the conversation and my surrounding. Rather than hiding my face behind my camera, I use the LCD and keep talking and interacting. Seems to put my subjects at ease. With the invention of mirrorless cameras I find myself using the view finder lesser everyday. Thanks for the video.

👍🏻👍🏻Nice finally finally a video/commercial which is actually informative... with really nice shots in between. I am really tired of those pretentious x-photographers with their slow/mo videos and taking themselves too seriously.... you know... those cliche shots from the back of the photographer walking in slow mo and trying to look cool with the sexy xpro...boring 😂

Totally agree in immersing yourself into the situation when shooting, from the experience it usually yields more emotionally connected images. I do prefer shooting with LCD screen, keeps me more connected with the model and the surroundings. Noticed that if i'm not really in a good mood I should rather not go out and shoot streets, it's exactly what you said- your vibe attracts the tribe. Hi from London :)

Really good video, you've clearly got the chops for documentary photography. If you make zines and books as well I wouldn't mind taking a look. I also wouldn't mind seeing more of these videos with the X-Pro3, they're quite educational. Oh, and here's hoping the X-Pro3 OVF is a big step up from the X-Pro2 as I do love my X-Pro2, but find the optical viewfinder a little too small and dim. Thankee!

Call me crazy but I would much prefer this camera with no LCD screen at all like the Leica MD (but keeping the new little screen on the back) and with a straight L shape angle on its right side like the X100f. I love my XPro2 but this design going lower towards the right is something that really bothers me a lot. Other than that, no need to change this camera design anymore. Correct me if I’m wrong but I feel that Fuji is attempting to touch a niche market (and I think they should) however, they are doing it in a subtle, shy and almost afraid way. I believe they would be much more innovative if they make the changes I suggest in my previous comment. I also think the customers would appreciate even more the X-Pro3. Just keep the production and the price of the X-Pro2 for those who really need or want the LCD and offer a new and really innovative, challenging, desired and special X-Pro 3 for the, let’s say, different level photographers. The way they are doing now will scare the average photographers and make the more experienced ones escheptical . I own a good deal of Fujifilm cameras an lenses (X100S, X100T, X100F, X-T1, X-T2, X-T3, X-Pro2, X-H1, XF-14mm f2.8, XF-16mm f2.8, XF-23mm f2, XF-35mm f2, XF-50mm f/2, XF-10-24mm f4, XF-16-55mm f2.8, XF-50-140mm f2.8 and XF-100‑400mm f/4.5‑5.6) so I believe I can say I know Fujifilm products enough and I have been observing how Fuji progresses in its camera lineup and that’s how I feel about it.

Hi Mindy I am impressed with your creativity and intelligence. It is rare to find a female photographer in SG.The Fuji Xpro3 is in my opinion not the poor man/ woman’s Leica just because it is a rangefinder camera. I own Leica but I came to realise the hard truth that photographers are focused more on gears and not on photography per sec. A camera can cost thousands and over life time of the camera, the number of shots are limited to at best less than a thousand according to research done in Japan and Germany. This means that a shot is hundreds of dollars. Planned obsolescence also raise the cost of per shot fully translated to a photo or image.What do you think ? By the way, many photographers in Sg (as well as artists) find their profession daunting and unable to make a living. The cost of living is high and inflation is accelerating. How do you make a living being a professional photographer in tiny SG ?

Hi Mindy. I’m enjoying these videos , I have not seen any others like this that’s done in partnership with the camera company ! One question I notice that you’re a left-eye shooter , how does the xpro3’s viewfinder position affect this (vs xt3 for example which is centrally positioned viewfinder)? Does it make you tilt more and have to compensate ?

Hi Mindy - I really like this video, and your approach and insights are great. But one thing is not right. You shoot with your left eye (so do I and that is why I noticed) And yet at 2.40 you hold the camera to your right eye and say the design lets your subject see half your face. No - when you shoot left eyed the camera hides more of your face. This is one reason why the rangefinder style is difficult for me. I am glad that a left-eyed photographer likes the Xpro3 but I don't understand why you would change eyes and say something that is not true for your own shooting.
@MindyTan
@MindyTan 4 жыл бұрын
Hi David, I shoot with both eyes. As a former wedding photographer, i think it is very taxing just to shoot with one eye. ButI go through phases, I would go for months shoot left, and then months shooting right. Each time it becomes a habit, then I force myself to switch. The initial switchings were tough, you really just need to be strict about it, and it becomes easy afterwards. My eyes are now of a different power, so it means that vertical and horizontal shots, i will need to adjust the diopter. Filming a a 3 man crew under pressure is much different from going out and taking time to do your own thing.
@davidhumeart
@davidhumeart 4 жыл бұрын
@@MindyTan Thank you Mindy. I appreciate you taking the time to explain. I found it odd because it was the only time in this video that you held the camera to your right eye, and I thought it looked uncomfortable for you. Now I understand. I would like to be able to use my right eye, but I am left handed and quite left-eye dominant and I have never learned to change. I think this is an extra skill you have - to change eyes, but I also think the main point of your video is about the understanding and empathy you share with your subjects. I think it is true and refreshing to highlight this empathy as the most important part of your photography.
