What makes the high SEER units double to triple the price of a 19 SEER? I have all 19 SEER Carrier in Mexico and I can't even find a high SEER here. Being off-grid solar, efficiency is key.

I am going with 15000 BTU . I was told if go to big shuts off and on lot of the time . Is that a true statement ? If so Why is that ?

It's called short cycling ... if you have too much cooling capacity it's overkill and the unit pulls down too quickly. You also will not get proper dehumidification of the air. Best to deal with your contractor and properly size the unit so it doesn't run too much, or not enough.

I just had a ASUG09LZBS (Fujitsu) installed for my indoor wall unit, and I was wondering is there anyway to turn off the green lights on them or turn them down at least? It is so bright at night, and I really don't want to cover it with tape. If anyone knows I would greatly appreciate the help.

That’s my problem too! I just put a white thick sticker over the light and that really helped dampen the brightness.

I have a 19 SEER 18K Carrier mini-split. It's constantly consuming at least 2200 watts. I'm hoping this is because the idiot Mexican HVAC guys (in Mexico) do not use evacuation pumps. I'm buying my own evac pump, manifold, scale, etc and only have the HVAC technician fill with recommended weight of refrigerant. Can I replace the with two 09LZBS 33 SEER2 units and expect less power consumption? I have been told that evacuating a system and filling with proper weight is "not a thing here" in Mexico. They didn't even test for leaks and I need to call them back again.
