Love this channel, as someone with a fascination with stupid old laptops as well. My distro of choice is always Debian for these things because it still supports 32-bit. I've been dipping into FreeBSD as well lately, which is pretty fun too. Great vid :)

Also the battery doesn't report the true health. Mine also reports 100% health, but it only lasts up to 2 hours on a full charge, with the 6 cell extended battery, like yours.

Check out the toughbook cf-w8, its a small but thick 12" 4:3 laptop with some interesting properties. It has a circular trackpad and a cd drive built into the palm rest. besides its underpowered cpu and strange keyboard layout, its a nice looking laptop with bullet proof build quality at a rather low price point.

How did you get the touchscreen installed? I have an older model (P1610) and I haven't managed to get the Linux touchscreen driver (xf86-input-fujitouch) working properly. Edit: I think the P1630 uses a USB touch screen, while the P1610 uses a serial touchscreen, so the drivers are incompatible.

hey they make 4gb ddr2 sticks of ram now, do you think the fujitsu would work with that upgrade ? I know it officially only supports 2gb max but i found in the past that its still possible to upgrade past that

The P1630 uses a different form factor called MicroDIMM, which they only made up to 2GB capacities, unfortunately... :(

@@Arcrinato Thanks yo ! I just got this computer and almost bought the wrong ram but I waited and I am glad i did, but hey can you tell me about the hdd inside of it ? I saw that it uses a different form factor also, and did you ever upgrade your computers hdd ?

@@violettangie1560 Yeah, for the P1630, it will use a 1.8" SATA drive. I did put in an SSD (lots of servers and some laptops from this time used 1.8" so old used SSD's are cheap, although worn). The ribbon cable inside is specific to the P1630, so hopefully yours comes complete... But otherwise it's easily accessible to swap out right from the bottom!

In general never make these assumptions, old laptops particularly of this era seriously require very specific often oem memory
