I don't think I remember a Lego fight scene that impressed me as much as this one has. Stunning composition, clear fighting, fluid movement, a tight story with such a great ending, just fantastic editing, and absolutely stellar action. Definitely going to be a big inspiration on the project I'm currently working on, and by far is my favorite Lego fight scene ever. Amazing job man!

The bit where they start circling each other in the garden outside is one of the coolest things I've seen done in LEGO. Your editing and shot choices are outstanding, you tell a really effective story through the action. The choreography is impressive and clear, little details like the figs getting covered in mud and the scratches on their faces make this feel more grounded than the average brickfilm. And you managed to pull off a proper and well-earned gut-punch ending! Great work 👏👏👏

This is the closest to a proper fight seen I have ever witnessed in a brickfilm. Most just have the characters slapping/shooting each other, or they have really nice effects, but unimaginative camera angles. Lego fight scenes have the potential to be much more cinematic. This is the closest I've seen for capturing a truly impressive lego fight.
@chickenstudios89915 жыл бұрын
Thanks, man! I totally agree with you. A lot of brickfilms have a camera facing down angle and it's not very cinematic, I wanted the camera to be at eye level to the minfigures so it's more natural and like an actual film.

Your welcome. By the way, could you give me some pointers on removing clay from minifigures? I’ve just finished animating a pretty decent shot of a sword stab, but it’s impossible to get the red clay off!
@chickenstudios89914 жыл бұрын
Not gonna lie it’s a constant struggle, I wipe them down with wet tissue and then use a toothpick to get rid of the little bits of clay. In my latest video I have two copies of each character one for close up stuff and one with the clay and dirt but that’s not always possible.
@homemadecinema5604 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the pointers. Right now I’m working on a test compilation. You know, walk cycles, fighting, falling, blood, stuff like that. I’m actually pretty proud of a walk cycle I made for my horse, it looks pretty fluid. By the way, what FPS do you run on? Each video I’m trying to get more smooth, so just curious.
@chickenstudios89914 жыл бұрын
It’s changed a lot over the years, I was on 15 FPS for a long time then went to 24 FPS which is what this video was animated on, but I’ve now changed back to 15 FPS sometimes 12 because i think it has a better look for what I do anyway and saves time compared to 24. It doesn’t really matter what the frame rate is really is really about the frame you take and the movement within them that counts. Anyway, experiment and see what’s best for you and good luck 👍.
