I gotta say the Carousel song on this album touched my soul so deeply. I think we all get caught in a loop of that mundane fear sometimes, never pushing yourself to do anything about anything really. How you can have such big dreams and passion in your heart, but apathy sets in and you never quite pursue any of those goals, and you're too afraid to try and change that. Whether it's confronting the hardest parts of your life, or even small things you're passionate about, sometimes you're stuck in a loop unable to progress further. And sometimes you procrastinate so long it doesn't feel worth it anymore, but you can't let go of that same cycle, everyone else has something to show for their time and effort but you're stuck with big dreams and empty hands. Sometimes you want to move on but other times you keep clinging to that idea, no matter how little progress you make, and once you sit down and try to execute that you start wondering if it's even worth it, if any of it will even matter in the future. This album is one of the most personally touching and beautiful collections of music I've ever listened to, *well done.*

Everyone’s giving their own interpretation of this album, so I’ll give mine! A little late I know but I think the shadow is a metaphor for your past self. I mean, in The Carrion Child, it says “murderer” many times, and I think the shadow is saying it. The reason it’s screaming murder is because you have cut off or killed an old part of yourself, one who has made too many mistakes or went through things you don’t want to think about. The reason the first few songs focus on brony culture so much is because when we look back at the past, we tend to only think about the good things. The memes, the songs we’d listen to, the animations we’d watch, so on and so forth. We don’t dwell on the bad things we did, or the bad experiences we faced. I think the reason the album had “surprise songs” is because facing ourselves is not something that usually happens. We ride the carousel, indulge in nostalgia, think about the way we used to be and quickly push it back in our minds. Examining the Afterthought and onwards is what happens when we finally stop ignoring the way we used to be, and futura and creekflow is finally accepting ourselves. “Can we coexist?” Is referring to the way you are now, and the way you were then. Can all your past mistakes, all your past traumas, still be a part of yourself today? Well, it can. It’s okay to accept and love yourself despite your past and present flaws. That’s what this album is trying to say, I think. That’s what I got out of it, anyways. Amazing album, 10/10

@NorrisTheSpider Жыл бұрын
I think you hit the nail on the head, and that your interpretation is also supported by the imagery of the album itself (and this visualizer here). As well as the music. The songs devoted to confronting the past (Hush!, Carrion Child, and the back half of Crush Kill Destroy Swag) take on a darker, harsher, more noise-centric angle then any of the previous dance-oriented tracks had. The album becomes abrasive, confrontational, surprising. Then, after some reconciliation with the past has taken place (Carousel, Futura), the noise returns in Creekflow. But this time, it's not harsh. It's not confrontational. It's part of the rest of the song, it compliments it, and it helps ease it towards some manner of conclusion. By time we loop back around to Let's Fly to the Castle!, the two sides of the album, the dancey-rock vibes, and the harsh industrial vibes, are one and the same. TLDR: the album is very very good

The Carousel spins, and you forget the beginning until you've made it to the end, thus the beginning once again. ok i've already left a comment here and not to maybe be cringe but ive been thinking about it so hard i HAVE to say something: the recontextualization of the "sing a song about life" sample in this album drives me sooooo cazy oh my god.. for now i can kind of only Guess at what the full story is but. there's something that feels so significant that the first time (? i mightve missed one without realizing idk) we hear the sample is in Bass Cannon, not even mentioned in the lyrics, and there it just cuts off as "Sing a song about-". something about denying the sample its meaning in the context of a bizarrely escapist nostalgic radio station, and an energetic song with crushing lyrics about choosing the status quo and safety over truly living... and then we finally hear the sample in full at the end of Hush! and there it's "Sing a song about life, MOTHERFUCKERRRR!".. and it feels like the very message of "sing a song about life" is being challenged. singing a song about life, but too afraid to live it? too afraid to face the shadow it casts and sing about all of life in its entirety? and then you hear it finally played straight (twice, even! i wonder if that's intentional or just because it sounds good) for the first time in the background of Creekflow... i wonder whether it's a rebuttal or an acceptance of the shadow's message, or perhaps both auuauauauauuuu i hope im not overthinking this. this album makes me feel So Much

This album touches me deeply, literally on the verge of tears from the wave of emotions going through this- I came here expecting a little goofy happy album and came out thinking about the past and how far I've come as a person, so many different feelings flowing through the good and the bad this is literally a masterpiece and I enjoy the MLP references so much, I remember as a kid, owning the pink princess Celestia who'd speak and I was pissed she wasn't show-accurate lmao I remember resenting the child in me for enjoying "feminine" things, I shut out MLP from my early teen years because I hated being "girly". I know I must have hurt her so badly for not allowing me to be myself. I can't blame myself entirely since of course I was raised in a society forcing us to believe everything is black and white in terms of identity, but slowly I came back to my child self and I am now making up lost time by enjoying everything I would have as a child. Was here for the premiere, so I'll write my thoughts here I guess. It was an album I was not expecting. Based on the song titles I was expecting passion and references, all I got was angst and impostor syndrome though I may be still may be asjdhfhal. I can' type I am shaking. It may not be a "bop" all the way through, I felt every emotion and concept I felt Vylet was trying to convey and I am all for it. Even if it means I feel super uncomfortable now and hasdve to talk to friends to calm down or experence atttacks. Fandoms feel weird. they always do. Everyone is on this carousel and the creators are the horses. When you leave, when you get off, when creators leave, what happens? Is that carousel gone? Is it broken? are we replaceable? yes... and no...? We are still there, like and echo through time. We can revisit and fall in love, but it'll never be the same. I am probably getting way too deep for a youtube comment, but hey its nice to talk. comforting. I think its good to live and create in the face of becoming an outline, a story to be put on the shelves. Which emboldens a part of me to push others and inspire them to create a story they'll be happy with. At the end of my life, I don't care, I am not apathetic, I just want others to forget me and to push others forward with the wisdom imparted through songs, art, and memories. I'm gonna have to listen tto the album again and think deeper when I'm not making art becasue I can't drwaw STRAIfgjt lines!

After thoroughly having existential panic attacks and talking to friends while having breakdowns, I can say this album is pretty good. I may have blacked out part of it due to how emotionally taxing it was, but like a carousel; I’ll come back around to that point eventually. While I understood a lot of the references and experienced carousel as a person/seat on the ride, my friends had different experiences and I love how it’s all valid as interpretations. I focused on the creator aspect and story; it resonated with me as someone who wants to create and inspire someone to do the same. Not to become some hotshot, but out of a genuine love for others. My friends saw it differently. They saw the cycle. The constant cycle to improve oneself. How difficult and fucked up you can get while on that carousel, but eventually coming out he other side for the better; all to do it again over time. I took that interpretation and I took it to heart and I hugged the ever loving shit out of them. I want to say thank you to all who worked on the album. Past, present, and future albums. Vylet/Trixie(can I even say that? Is that even ok for me to refer personally? Ashkakdbhjkl) wouldn’t have gotten to this point without your help or your support. It’s like you are all a tight knit family and I love it. Each of you have unique talents and bring something new to the table. I’ve always wanted to thank and commission every one of you personally for a piece of art or a custom cover. I’d probably be handing out hundreds of dollars over time, but it’s all stuff I’d hang on walls or listen to nonstop. So special thank you to: StereoFlier - I love your art, it’s beautiful. I wish I could paint it on my walls. Nekosnicker- your voice and artwork is beautiful. I loved it in cutiemarks, I love it here. Namii - your music is great, your covers are amazing, anything with you has a emotional breath of air that mixes smoothly in. GalaxySquid - WOOOOOOOO YEAH BABY! THAT’S WH- But seriously, ~Harper was very good~~ AstroEden - I absolutely adored your work on “Can Opener’s Notebook”. Your style captured the emotions and set everything up to be perfect. It’s one of my favorite albums and pieces of art. I just wish I was sooner and bought the top tier for the vinyl campaign. Mr. Nowack - I’m proud of your accomplishments. You’ve gone so far and I wish you well and that you have an even more successful life than you already have. CalamariSpider- Your art is what helped put me into my existential terror! Thank you! It was surreal and I wouldn’t have been able to understand and love this album more without that. Voreburger - I love your work. No, you didn’t have to even lift a finger for the album. Lmao ❤ And you, Vylet. You seem to have touched a lot of corners of my life. Even tangentially. Thank you for the music you put out. I’m not rich enough to support everyone I care about monetarily, but I can at the very least give a personal and genuine: Thank you. I listen to Canni on my record player a lot and it helps me with my emotions while working on art or talking with friends over discord. I wouldn’t be here today without your music…

Also, every single listen, even now, there's still different parts that hit me, that give me chills. It's impossible to pick a favorite song here, all of them become my favorite before falling away to another, endlessly, cycling...

also flair for the dramatic hit me right in the linkin park in the best way that maybe only makes sense to me but considering the lineage of themes of nostalgia and the things of our childhoods in your work i guess the planets aligned and it felt like the first time i heard breaking the habit at age 14 all over again

absolutely blown away by bass cannon (pun intended) in particular, i’ve never heard hard dubstep mixed with other genres in that way and it’s so so cool, you’ve made me enjoy dubstep with this and ‘fuck marry kill’ for the first time since 2015

getting chills on crush kill destroy swag every single time and i can't believe im typing these words in this order. {spoilers below} im about 4 full listens in and still having trouble wrapping my brain around exactly what's being got at here. all the talk of stagnation, fate, spectacle, nostalgia(sort of im sure there's a better word), cycles and so on (along with some of the stuff outside the album) makes me think its about trying to make new and exciting art for an audience and some of the ways that process can be really painful. but im really struggling to fit creekflow neatly into those ideas. at first i thought 'ok a shadow might be something like an audience's perception of the artist' and maybe that works, but also creekflow seems to want to CHANGE things which... i dunno it doesn't quite add up for me yet. and it's very exciting trying to piece it all together!! especially since on a purely emotional level this album is resonating super duper well as previously mentioned.

TYSM for this comment, it helped me to think about this album more metaphorically rather than as a literal story in Equestria, which i think is a roadblock I had to get over.

Yet again you prove to be a true artist Vylet with this album. Just when I thought I understood the meaning of what life and self expression is like in CUTIEMARKS, I hopped on board the Carousel and had a thrilling experience. The best part was hearing DJ Pon-3 himself, Jesse Nowack, join the ride like nothing else. Thank you Vylet for all that you do and don’t let anyone stop you from being your true creative self! 🤍💙💜🖤🎵💽

I feel awful that I am only discovering Vylet now, like this is 120% the type of stuff I have loved my whole like, and I cannot get enough!!! This album is legendary, right up there with Lateralus if you ask me. Such a wonderful spectrum of emotion on this album!! 11/10 for sure!!!

Vylet, I struggle to describe how amazing your work is. I think I could only describe it in feeling, which, even then, isn't enough. Regardless, it's the feeling you get when you're tapped into your true self, and all the rawness that can come with that. That's inspiring, especially in these times. Thank you for what you do and who you are. It means more than one can convey over text. :]

Ever since i first heard LESBIAN PONIES WITH WEAPONS, i’ve been enamoured with your music. From CUTIEMARKS to your older works like Angershy to ISOMETRICA to yak song…so much of your music hits me where it matters and in so many different ways. This album absolutely hits hard. Crush Kill Destroy Swag scratches my brain just right, Constellation Cradle is a general bop, Hush is a rollercoaster, Creekflow makes me want to scream along “when will i finally break?!” just AGH I LOVE THIS ALBUM AND YOUR MUSIC IN GENERAL 💙💜

Am listening to the album on loop on a long roadtrip, and I was slightly amused when I clicked the loop button, since, Carousel and all that... Imagine my amazement when the last song seemlessly looped back to the first one! That was a brilliant idea Vylet :3 The whole album is amazing thanks to all the little details you put into it

Ok, after a few listens all the way through, I think the standout tracks to me are the first 3, Brohoof, and Carousel. The bright and playful noise with the heavier, more crystallized and piercing sounds there are just awesome. This is a really great album to take long walks to.

Absolutely phenomenal continuous album. "Let's Fly To The Castle!" just sound so magical, like returning to a thing you've known, and with a blast. Always love how you're able to tell stories in the tracks you make, my favourite kind of storytelling. I mean, you get to weave a story by writing it and you sing a melody with it as well. Two birds with one stone, what's not to love? But yeah, glad to hear that this track broke Number 1 on Bandcamp. You completely deserve that W. Also HOLY FUCK THAT SCYTHE GUITAR LOOKS FUCKING SICK, ABSOLUTELY METAL-
