​@BlindStarLily I'm not that person but I usually don't like them because they feel lifeless. I like his reading because of the personal additions like the commentary and 'mistakes' it makes it feel like I'm really listening to a friend reading a book out instead of the robot like ones

To be honest I don't. I wouldn't mind it if he just made the commentary after reading the story but him talking in between narration takes me out of the immersion.

I actually really enjoy when readers stumble on words when they do audiobooks. It reminds me of when my parents used to read to me as a kid.

Omg I absolutely adore how lively this reading is! Normally I dislike a lot of readers online for keeping the same monotoned voice and whatnot but this kept me invested and it was way easier for me to process what I was read as I struggle when it's a linear reading without pauses or any commentary

Thank you so much for narrating all of these! I love this story. It's so sad, and in a weird way it's very true to life: young women are brainwashed by the media into thinking that they're not pretty enough, brainwashed into trying to change to be more beautiful, and then punished for it. Of course it's the supernatural elements that make this one fun, but I love that there's something real in it too!\

It hurts how accurate this is. I’ve been trying to change my beliefs revolving around my self image for a long time, but it’s a struggle. I feel like, at that age, I could have easily fallen into the same trap as Sarah. It especially aches now to see my little sister going through the same thing of thinking she isn’t pretty enough. She’s thirteen for Gaea’s sake and thinks her boobs are too small. Thir-teen. It’s horrible how often young people, especially afab people, go through body image issues, I swear

Beauty does matter. Those who say it doesn't are foolish. The only one to fall into this trap of self destruction are people who are trying to fight it. Only those who accept they aren't good-looking are able to move on.

Here’s something interesting that I just noticed partway through the story. During their first interaction, Sarah only ever calls Eleanor it, then the next day says she. At some point between cleaning her up and getting the necklace from her, Sarah started thinking of Eleanor as a real person and not just a pretty item. It’s even more curious to me when I think about how often the pros say that Sarah doesn’t believe Eleanor about becoming beautiful, but her giving Eleanor the feminine pronouns over it and its shows that a small part of her does believe it. Also unrelated, but I really don’t care for the fact Eleanor looks like a less beefy Circus Baby. It feels kinda lazy with character design in my opinion. Maybe a good way to differentiate would be to give Eleanor dark blue eyes like Baby has in the cupcake minigame since it’s at least somewhat hinted at that Baby has green eyes because of Lizzie’s green eyes. Maybe also not specifying that Eleanor’s face is painted like a clown, just stopping at the rosy cheeks and bow shaped lips. I’m not sure if it’s described her dress yet, but I’m just hoping that it isn’t red. I think making it blue or yellow would be a good way to set her apart from Baby. Yellow tends to represent fear, and I’m pretty sure that’s one of Eleanor’s joys in life. Dark blue or silver could be a nod to sorrow, which is her other joy in life. Obv I’m just spitballing how I would have designed her. I know I can’t change it, but y’know

Props to the author of this story Elley Cooper! The wider world was created by Scott by they hired some really good writters and I feel like Elley Cooper incapsulates perfectly how it feels to a 14yo girl to need to be pretty and then (in the most grousome way) find out she didn't needed to

Eleanor is particularly sinister as a villain here. The story spends solidly the first third of it establishing that Sarah would have excepted a deal like hers from a something she knew she obviously shouldn’t, but Eleanor does a great job at pretending to be entirely non-threatening or offering any inherently shady “this for that” kind of deals. Poor girl never had a chance.
