Agreed. I'm not sure how you can give a bad sportsmanship flag to Kostecki for blocking and not SVG when he has 2 wheels on the grass on the inside trying to nudge the other car wide. Either Supercars is a contact sport and the 99 was allowed to defend or it's not but you have to penalise both.

@@drummermatt13 as svg said the rules don’t make sense and are quite confusing. Svg was rough but i think there was an overlap when svg had 2 wheels on the grass. Looked like from the angle we got he was pushed there. But really look at other motorsports like nascar dale jr got away with a lot of things like passing under the yellow line, same as supercars. Look after the big names which sucks should be same rules for everyone

@@drummermatt13 99 got a bad sportsmanship (not a penalty but a warning) and 97 had an overlap which was much better illustrated in other video breakdowns but yeah both competitors took their racing manoeuvres right to edge within the rules an thus it was judged. Great racing on the limit I reckon.

@@NZsarge1 I appreciate that but I don't think it matters If you're going to warn the 99 then I think SVG should have been warned as well. I actually had no problem with either of them, it was hard but fair but it's the fact that SVG was not warned when clearly attempting to nudge someone wide but the 99 was for blocking. There was some overlap but likewise, there were times there wasn't when SVG was in the back of him.

@@MRTJ434 Looked to me like the 99 was taking the racing line and of course they'll be an overlap if SVG drives it in hard on the brakes. But SVG is right, the rules don't make sense and you're right, it happens in other series. Still wrong though.

Mclaughlin is probably going to win his first Indy championship or honestly Romain Grosjean might, as they both have been in the top 3 battles of every one of the first 4 indy races this season mclaughlin is the only dude who could compete and win against gisbergen

As much as this battle was awesome, am I right in thinking someone in the first race of this season was penalised for a bump and run? And yet SVG is quite happy pretty much ramming and shoving folks out the way to take the lead? No penalty for the race winning move in Race 2 at Newcastle, and this was pretty fiercely aggro with the only warning from Race Control going to Brodie for defending fairly? Just seems weird to me, they really need to clarify that rule - I don't really think SVG went overboard here, mostly because Brodie gave it right back too, it was a fierce and fun battle. And hey, at least the officials didn't ruin the whole thing by slapping the leader with a pathetic 10-second penalty for 'track limits' violations... *glares at BTCC*

People seem to forget what a bump and run actually is, it’s gaining a position from big contact. Shane vs chaz on newcastle was chaz creating contact from coming across on Shane who had a slight overlap so when chaz created contract he screwed himself over, chazs return serve down into the 2nd to last corner was dirty but hey it was all good in the end. The contact that was made in the shane vs Brodie battle never resulted in an overtake, Shane got his front end down the inside of Brodie who went wide, contact was then made when Brodie tried to cover but it was too late because Shane got the overlap. Rubbing bumping and pushing is all fair game until it’s clear that it upsets a car too much that it forces an overtake which isn’t the case in either situation. And as for the bad sportsmanship flag, that was completely fair, watch from 0:59 seconds in, the run down the hill Brodie blocked and that’s what it was for, just a warning to make sure he doesn’t do that again

AJ Omega - I'm from UK & watched those BTCC Races LIVE on the day. "Rules Are Rules" in every Motorsport discipline. I really wanted to see Ricky win his first race as well, but he'd already been given a "track-limits warning" WAY before the Penalty was applied. Did you pay attention to the chat about whether the Team had informed him of the Warning (in the first instance), then the resulting Penalty? He actually tried to drive into Winner's Paddock, after the race. Tim Harvey stated (live) that he thought the Team hadn't been keeping Ricky informed.

watch all close wheel series, most of them are like this in the last laps if they are close, i have seen motorposrt from all over the world and unless the guy is miles away clean racing wont happen

Rubbing’s racing as they say. Supercars and nascar have that in common at least . I love open wheel too but I think the best thing about low downforce tin top racing is you can bump and grind .
