I love this wacky little fifth wheel. Rockwood wrote their own rulebook on this one. The key is the combination kitchen counter / dining bar that saves a BUNCH of space down in the living room to allow for a full bed slide up in the bedroom at only about 29ft of total length!
This layout certainly isn't for everyone but for a solo traveler or more "purist couple's camping" experience it's a really amazing fit that also boasts SUPRISINGLY good storage!!

Hi.. I love this unit! Love how small it is for easy towing and fitting into smaller campgrounds. Bummer about the fridge in travel mode but not a deal breaker. Not crazy about the bed/bath door situation...I wonder if the bedroom door could be a pocket/sliding door? Or just remove the bedroom door all together and have the bathroom door swing open towards the stairs and wide enough to cover the opening like some chaparrals are doing.

Wife & I have owned this since March of ‘21. We’ve camped full hookups and boon docked. We lived in it mid week for work 3 hours from home. Upgraded EVERYTHING. It’s a Glamper not a camper. Installed a bidet and about to install automatic roll up blinds. We plan on touring the U.S. and pull it with a Duramax 6.6 turbo diesel. Life is grand. We love this RV!

Hello, I am not persay a 5th wheel fan, but as a single person I do like this layout. The counter seating/ eating is respectable for me over a dinette space. I like that the theater seat does not have a center partition so it can be used as a small couch to lie down on while watching TV, and I do appreciate the outdoor cooking area. The fact one can opt for either a full queen or king is also well thought out. Overall, a nice rig for a single man like me or retired couple, or couple just starting out. I personally love it! Perfect for a single or couple. I do love the bar stools. I use T.V. Trays for eating on the couch. I don’t think it needs a fireplace. If you want one, you could add one. They did pack a lot in the small trailer!

We have the same model in the Flagstaff line and love it. We added an after market king size bed which really made a big difference. Only been out with it a couple of times and so far no complaints.

Love the layout. If I had to rank a number one pet peeve... it would be the counter. The bar counter could be reinforced to set back the little supporting wall and the chair could slide around better to meet the company. That would give a "couples" feel and for the remote worker get the big screen comfortably forward for a day's work. The unsung hero of this layout is the nice heater vent at the toilet. ) Addition of the old school 12V 120-watt car outlet is a lot better for us modern road warriors who have computers that charge with USB C.

I'm VERY impressed with this RV! This is very close to what I've been looking for, and I think there are some very good features on this unit that makes it even more desirable than the slightly larger Cougar you showed us just a few days earlier. I do NOT like the location of the sink, and would rather have it where the stove is, and vice versa. But not a deal killer. Other than that, I think Rockwood has truly done an outstanding job with this one!

Yes our Rockwood solar panel system cranks 8 amps while there is sun. Key is making sure you have it pointing toward the sun. Also the battery is very important. I just upgraded whole system to handle 100ah LiFePo4 battery

I’ve had the chance to be in this unit and find the living area a bit tight for our needs. I would love Rockwood to offer a 5th wheel model that has the living/kitchen area of their 2622RK … and the bed slide/bathroom of this 2442. So impressed with Rockwood’s quality especially the well sealed underbelly.

This is what I been waiting to see Rockwood nailed it. TV trays are definitely underrated for sure. My wife on the other hand is not a fan of the rear kitchen. She is worried about that much weight being behind the axles. Put her mind at easy one day with a video. I think it's and old way of think from back in the day. When the structure of the frame did not hand the weight as well as today chassis. Sorry kinda went off the deep end there. Is it prepped for a second AC? Love this thing.. Thanks Uncle Josh 😃

Hell of a rig for a young couple or a guy moving around the country on jobs. Light, short, even has levelling. And yeah, that compartment is shockingly big. With less than 30' I was expecting a tiny belly space. This is one of the new I've seen I'd actually tow with a modern 1/2 ton, but not if I had mountains to deal with, then I'd go up to 3/4 ton.

We are looking for a smaller 5th wheel like this. Trying to keep the weight down so we don't have to upgrade our truck do to the shortage. Love the bedroom setup! The living room would not work for us. But I understand they had to reduce the square footage of the living room to be able to have that great storage in the bedroom and keep the rig under 30'.

A 29 ft 5th wheel will maneuver very well and has the ability to negotiate curves and park in locations much the same as a 22-23 ft travel trailer. I pull a 31 ft 5th wheel with a short wheel base extended cab 3/4 ton and have no trouble hitting a 30 ft campsite.

Just did the perusal of the 2445WS, and if we could put a wall mount table and regular chairs (ala Cougar), the 2445WS with that more stable type of wall mounted table would be it. Bed access and refrigerator access in travel mode are the things that tip us toward the 2445WS. They’re both 3/4 ton gas or better trailers, but for 29 ft, there is a lot of living space!!

Awww... it's so cute so little! Almost looks like a toy! I love it! I was actually thinking of getting a hugh 5th wheel to live in while my tiny cabin was being built but hey I'm loving this! No camp kitchen but I can always fix that problem with a mini fridge under the awning. And no washer dryer, well I can always have a deck built and one hooked up outside. Or build a utility shed and put it in there along with a composting toilet. Where was the outside shower? Did it not have one? That means I'll have to include that in the outdoor shed as well. Love me that theater seat! And larger shower! It only has one vent fan? Can a second one be put in the kitchen/living area? And of course I'd love a second air in the bedroom. Boy this is a nice little camper!

Hey Josh, Very nice unit. There are 2 things missing in this unit. A fireplace which could be put over by that cabinet that is against the bathroom wall. The second thing is when coming in from outside, there's no place to hang a coat or put your shoes?? The 3rd thing is, that tip-out spot in the kitchen could be put inside the kitchen sink door like what its twin did in the Flagstaff version. Your thoughts?? The bedroom is awesome!

If you've seen a difference between a Rockwood and Flagstaff, then it reflects a change they made based on build date and not a difference based on one brand vs the other. The two are 100% hard identical twins but the factory will make little tweaks to their chosen production from time to time

Very Nice for a small 5th wheel. Fireplace yes. I don't get the 2 bedroom windows in the door side. I'd rather have just one window and maybe a bigger dresser. And I'm not crazy about the molding edge under the entertainment center....I'd be the one knocking my head on it 😆.

Yes, definite for solo traveler! I used to do traveling Nurse and this is perfect for that! Temporary medical professionals should check this out! ? why can't they extend the counter a bit longer? Also, suggestion: drop down bracket for TV like they use above fireplaces! Checked it out and what I would do! Cheers

Love this for a couple. I only wish these smaller campers would do a slightly larger oven. There's a point where it's not really usable and I think I would absolutely use a larger oven.

Rockwoods are better than most with their 22” oven. Many of these just don’t have the space to give up for a bigger oven like a Montana but I get it!

This would be very nice for single traveler but for a couple I prefer our Grand Design 29RS with 2 extra feet in length and a third slide. Rockwood does a nice job. Thanks Josh!

Yeah major difference with the extra room you can get from the length there. Rockwood builds those kinds of layouts as well! Great setup on that 29RS :)

A big hang up with my Rockwood is that the interior is set up a little strange. For example, all the lights on the interior are a little bit weird. Near the entrance there is a switch to turn on one bulb that hangs near the front door, but it only activates that bulb. In order to turn on the other lights, I need to go on a scavenger hunt to find 7 or 8 different switches to turn on all the lights inside of my RV. You may be thinking that that may not be such a big deal, but just wait till you get back after a long day of playing, and need to prepare for bed. If it is at all dark inside you won’t be able to find any of the switches. Waking up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom is a pain as well. Nothing like fumbling through a pitch black RV in the middle of the night with a full bladder I always say. It builds character, yes, but I would rather just have lights that make sense things about the Rockwood RV: The frameless windows are nice, but they have their drawbacks. The interior of the Rockwood is dark already, and the windows are so small that they don’t let in a lot of natural light. I’m the type of guy that enjoys as much contact with the sun’s rays as possible, and I just can’t get that with these smallish windows. It wouldn’t be so bad if you could open them all the way, but they only open about halfway by twisting a little know that lies at the base of the window seal. On the other hand, this is also kind of a nice feature as you are able to enjoy some fresh air even if it were raining outside, but overall, I think I would have preferred larger windows. The stove and the oven are nice, but kind of a pain to use. The oven, for example, needs to be started with a lighter which is annoying, but it isn’t too difficult. The problem with the stove is that is can be very easy to forget to turn it off and let propane pour into the rest of your RV. I haven’t had an issue yet, but I could see that potentially causing some serious harm. The chairs that surround the dining room table are rigidly straight and miserable to sit on. While it isn’t bad if you only need to sit for a couple of minutes I prefer sitting outside and enjoying a meal whenever possible to sitting in those chairs. In my opinion, one of the greatest parts about camping is the food. If I can’t properly enjoy my food, then I can get a big chip on my shoulder. I would have hoped the chairs would have been more conducive to a good meal. For whatever reason, when I bought my Rockwood, it had a lot of broken parts. The DVD player on the TV, for example, wouldn’t start up properly. I bought my Rockwood new and wasn’t expecting so many issues.

They're getting better about the lighting vs switches with the new 2023's and updated command panel which is nice. The interior can lighten up a lot depending on the chosen decor The windows opening vs airflow is spot on of course. I'm glad they use the larger vent fans to help, but it's still less airflow

There are many positive features to this camper. So hard to find a 5th wheel under 30 ft. As fridge access is important to me I will check out the 2445.

The increase in voltage of your battery pack simply demonstrates that the solar panel is charging. It doesn't tell us squat about how much. Try it again with a shunt wired in and then tell us how many amp hrs were added.

Great little floor plan! But that slide floor, what is it??? Yuk! If they’re eliminating carpet that’s good, but don’t put some funky outdoor mat looking flooring- make it match the rest of the floor! And YES to the fireplace in lieu of that one lower cabinet. I’d definitely forego that small amount of storage for the electric fireplace. They work great to take the chill out and add a bit of ambience!

It's a marine flooring like you might find in a pontoon. Very rugged stuff that handles spills nicely. Keystone does something similar. My preference personally is the way Jayco does it with matching lino in the slide floor and main floor
