I agree woth you fellas: Makar will make 18 M , after 3 years. The cap hit then far over 100M . They sold one of the 10 bast players, one of 3 bedt wingers, for getting Necas and Drury. Martin Necas has had many dry seasons . Maybe with Mac he will perform well. But the deal was insane . They panicked , the GM and owners of AVS.

The internal cap issue isn’t necessarily about the salary of one player on the team. Friedman has reported that as the cap rises steeply, more and more teams will set payrolls well below the cap. And not just rebuilding teams. A lot of good, non-rebuilding teams like the Avs will keep payrolls 5, 10 million below the cap because ownership is simply unwilling to spend more. Meanwhile, the franchises with the deepest pockets will spend to the cap every season. Welcome back to an NHL divided into have and have-not franchises again.

I respect Avs. They do not want to end up as Toronto. Better 2 big star and depth than 3 big starts with less depth. Rantanen is third best guy so he is 12+ worth to other team as the best or 2nd best guy but not to Avs as a 3rd...

I put much stock in the pov's of Rhett Warrener, not a Flames fan but I like hearing RW's opinion on things, especially non-Flame things, lol. No offense, Flames having an interesting season and it's kinda fun hearing the rosy or ultra rosy pov's of Flame fans and RW is a realist. Fans of every team are much the same, lol, including me cause my teams prospects are always a little better than the other guy's teams prospects, lol, I think that's normal.

Rantanen and his agent thought the Avs would eventually cave and pay what he wanted. When it comes down to it, between MacKinnon, Makar and Mikko...they're keeping the first 2 and don't wanna end up like Toronto (no matter where the cap goes). Mikko wanted to be paid like a number 1 when he's number 3. Mikko is gaslighting everyone.

The problem is Colorado are too good at drafting and they are getting punished for it. If it is between MacKinnon Makar and the 🫎. You need to get rid of the 🫎. They need more depth
