Look at the Tkachuk trade possibilities now. Tkachuk for either Kyrou or Necas is looking good and could’ve been the return. We have Weegar but not the right age for perspective competitive years. Pull the trigger on good young proven players when offered.

I don't think you should look 5-7 years down the road. The coach and GM aren't likely going to be around. That's Oiler fan pain. You need a 2-3 year mindset. That can change when the big pieces come together. You can't trade Weegar and Anderson. Lose them and there is no defense left. I think they should look to offer sheets and distressed assets. Target WJC alumni. What if Necas had become a Flame? I think they should try to get for Zegras for Pelletier (or any other prospect) if they are unsure of his viability. Trade Kadri back to TO, maybe for Knies. If the top 6 had 2 more goals each, we would be much better off. You can't fight bad puck luck. You might be able to trade Huberdeau if you retain 50%. I am sympathetic to the Gaudreau family loss, but Gaudreau wrecked our contending team, and I don't want to hear any more about him. They should not retire that jersey number. Maybe we could pry Forsberg out of the Preds.
