Some of the older 'Muscle cars' like that one had the hard top with vinyl glued to it. I believe that's what this model has.
@rayrussell62588 ай бұрын
I've heard the roof is a bugger to make it fit. Looks like I'll need a small bar clamp to hold the edge of the roof's rear quarter inboard until the glue sets. Thanks for doing this model. I have an older one by AMT.

For all the beautiful presentation, it is a shame that this version has been so drastically changed from the one I built 20 years ago. The "challenge" of mating the hardtop to the body is why most of these you see built are convertibles with the boot that used to be provided. That is how I did mine. Also, mine came with a Shaker Hood for the 440 Six Barrel instead of the hood seen on your build. Not sure if it is still available from him, but Jimmy Flintstone made a resin body with the top already mated on. Nice build and a great video, Jason

Excellence build of this old "Yankee Challenger" kit ! The roof has always been a challenge, well done!!❤
@jamesdaly56988 ай бұрын
Another great build, Louie. That kit was originally released as a convertible back in the day. So I'm surprised R2 didn't include the boot so it could also be built as a drop top. I'm sure they have the molds. The Yankee Challenge hard top was always fussy to work with. You did a great job. Happy Thanksgiving!

I love this. Love the colours you chose. I did mine as the Vanishing Point car, same licence plate in the kit too. I had no problems putting the roof on. All I would say is it would be nice if you put the silver Sharpie over the Challenger badge on the front wing. Aside from that, lovely job.

Thank you!! I did attempt to highlight the challenger name with sharpie, but it looked to sloppy. The decals included didn’t show up against the brown either. I have always said, if you can’t make a detail look good, leave it off. Thank you for watching. Happy Modeling

Beautiful build, brown’s a color on cars that doesn’t seem to get a lot of love these days and I think it fits perfectly with your Challenger model.

Very nice color louie. Something different than the harder colors. BTW the 59 El camino i bought after seen it build by you is looking awesome in Deep metallic Blue and Silver thin masked stripes. And with the hoodlid on it looks awesome. Thinking of buying and building another one. Was a good kit, no hassle,all fits nice and easy. Happy Holidays Louie to you and your family

Wow I am surprised they made that kit like that. You did a stellar job on this! Love how the color turned out, and I am not a fan of Krylon paits!
@lancerevell59798 ай бұрын
After several tries, I cannot successfully get a decent paintjob using Krylon or Rustoleum paints. I even used their own primers. Tamiya paints work well for me, over both Tamiya and Duplicolor primers.

HEY-DAR 👊😎👍: turned out very nice, I like watching builds -in-progress like this. Looks like the Yankee Challenger kit with added goodies? I remember the roof sucked then as well. WOW, that hood sucked too. Watch You Later, (MODEL CAR😎MAN CAVE)

Was just wondering why you use a gloss coat with a paintbrush on your seats. Your interior looks awesome without the gloss coat. Beautiful color for the body and the interior color. I wonder why it did not come with a convertible boot. I'm glad they put one stock hood. Love the show
@TheAutisticModeler8 ай бұрын
The gloss makes the seats look more like that vinyl Dodge used to use in the seventies. It was really glossy. Thanks for watching.

Can’t believe it. USPS even crushes their own postage stamp Tin boxes. Lol! Great work on the ancient Yankee Challenger. That roof has been a struggle for many a modeler over the years. The front valance is tricky too. Great work. The color combo and vinyl roof look awesome too! Really well done.

Another great build. I like how you took the time to show how to fix the short coming the assembly of the top and hood had. Alot of the modeler are able to pick up some important skills that you have acquired. The color choice for the body and top go together perfectly. Being unconventional stand out with your modeling techniques. Good job!!!!!

Very nice color way you chose, people don't realize only the minority of '69 to '73 cars were high impact colors. My 'Cuda was crimson metallic. Love Krylon paints, and later Rustoleum is great too, been using Krylon since 60s. Don't ever waste money on more expensive paints- rather learn how to paint, wet sand, compound and polish. No Tamiya or foo foo paint looks better than mine. Great job on that E body !!! 👀

Its a repop of an old shitty kit in a new box!The worst is the "extra" top!Great sinkholes in the dashbord!!But all in all you did a great job on it!And nice colors!

Nice build. Can you tell me what exhaust fan you are using in your spay booth? Seems pretty powerful...
@TheAutisticModeler7 ай бұрын
I bought the entire set up on Amazon, it is a dual fan type. Two speeds. Vents really well. I have it hooked up to a dryer vent in the wall to outside. I don’t remember what model spray booth it is though. I believe it was about $80. Thank you for watching. Happy Modeling

Nice build! Discovering your channel is motivating me to look into my possible autism. I'm curious, what where your first steps?
@TheAutisticModeler8 ай бұрын
For me, my oldest child was diagnosed with Asperger’s. Afterwards I also completed the online assessment which showed a high probability of Asperger’s/Autism. This prompted me to seek a diagnosis as well. I started with by calling my behavioral health insurance and requesting an intake assessment. I stated during my intake that I wanted to be evaluated for Asperger’s and provided the online assessment results. At that time they had just changed the diagnosis from Asperger’s, Autism and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder to simply Autism. So while my child had been diagnosed with Asperger’s, my diagnosis was Autism. My recommendation would be start with the online assessments and contact your behavioral health provider for an evaluation. The provider should be a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist. I hope this helps. Best wishes and as always Happy Modeling!

That's weird it doesn't come with convertible boot, that would be the easiest build. It looks like That white paint come out of the can fast and thick
@TheAutisticModeler8 ай бұрын
That was the grey primer. Comes out fast but looks heavier than what it is.
@lancerevell59798 ай бұрын
That interior tub is also a convertible tub. They really should have included the top boot in this kit.
