I love the build mate, great job. I wanted to ask why do you and many other builders mark the top corner with a sharpie. Thanx for sharing this build video
@autostradamacchina Жыл бұрын
Thank you, appreciate it. The reason why we mark it with a sharpie is because we mark the seam line when the plastic was molded together. So to get rid of the lines, we mark it and sand it down afterwards.

Nice work, good looking model. Can I ask what brand of paint you use for the body and the clear coats and what pressure you spray at please. I use the Zero paints system but you appear to spray at a higher pressure than I do, tho it could just be how it looks on video. Anyway, nice video and superb model kit. I'm subscribed and like and looking forward to seeing more.
@autostradamacchina3 жыл бұрын
David I love this kind of feedback, Thanks!! So for primer I use Mr Hobby 1500, grey in this case, paint I used was the Zero paints ZP-1634, its the Merc Sauber specific colour, clear on this one was also Mr Hobby GX100, I used to use ZP 2k, but its too thick on a race car in my opinion. For pressure I spray at 2bar, but I do adjust the paint amount being released from the gun depending on how much I want to release, for ZP i make it less paint to try and not get orange peel, is a struggle with zero, but it sounds like you’ve had the same issue too. What pressure do you spray at?
@davidfisher55073 жыл бұрын
@@autostradamacchina I'm spraying at around 1.5bar when I use Zero, I've not really had a problem with finish. Just interesting to see how you do it. Do you feel that running at 2 bar helps reduce orange peel? I use Halfords automotive primer as my base coats and then the Zero colour and I'm trying the 2pack clear again on my current build, Tamiya Lotus 107.
@autostradamacchina3 жыл бұрын
@@davidfisher5507 spraying at 2 I think gives me better coverage. With my setup I've had some issues with an unevern finish. Buuut that could also be my spraying skills.. the 107 is a beautiful looking kit. that colour scheme looks like it might be a pain in the ass to get right
@davidfisher55073 жыл бұрын
@@autostradamacchina I've masked and painted all the colours and I'm applying CF decals on the chassis sides where necessary. Happy with it so far. I really enjoy masking complex livery's. Your spray set up looks nice from what I can see in the video. A future video idea could be a workbench guide, show the tools/equipment etc. It's always nice to see how other modellers are set up. Good to learn from. I might up the pressure a little when I spray next time, see how it works, on scrap plastic first obviously.
