G'day Alex, An amazing build and video! I'm a retired, ex-RAAF codger who grew up doing Spitfire, Hurricane and Mosquito builds, pretty badly. But I soon got the bug. Adult life got in the way for many years but now I've got a huge stash and I'm going to start building those aircraft that I flew on or worked around during my time in uniform. @wkruit1 to be picky, they lost quite a few very early on due to the general lack of training and experience of the Luftwaffe (it had been rebuilt just 4 years before it started receiving the Starfighter), combined with the bad weather they were flying them in which was not addressed during training. They still didn't lose as many 104s as they lost F84s and F86s. Once the training and procedures were improved, they found the aircraft was actually quite good. Other countries like Japan, Italy, Spain and Belgium had much fewer issues.

Nice job. Wish I would have found this kit when I started my build. Watching those close ups of the cockpit build makes me realize I need a better camera. I can barely get a good focus on stuff half that close. Like I said, nice work, hope mine turns out as well.

AlexModeling I appreciate the thought but I'm trying to escape the mad , mad world of armor modeling. Build it in a month or more ,then spend 4 more with detailing and layering on the weathering. I have three on the bench now so it might be awhile haha. I shared your video with the old pros in my club and almost to a man the first response was "damn, I need to get back to planes!" The second was holy ... that guy is good with a blade ! Looking forward to your next project.

Yes you did.. enamel it is!

Its Enamel based, not lacquer. So you have no worries about it attacking bare plastics. Check out the Flory review video for it (also on an F-104 as it happens!)

I use micro fiber cloth... i have a lot of these... however you can use a paper toal or a napkin

A beautiful Starfighter, the one you made is the only starfighter that is in flying condition in Europe, it is sitting at the aviation museum in Bodø, Norway.

It was a great jet only if it was used as interceptor that's Italians and turks have made, using at low fly bomber it was disastrous.

Obrigado , mas merece -Já fiz há muitos anos um na escala 1/48. mas agora vou fazer 2 na escala 1/72 Italaianos, um com pintura Ferrari (vermelho com emblemas da Ferrari e outro comemorativo dos 25 anos . Eu os jatos já só os faço em voo e com piloto. Inflezmente vêem com muita coisa que eu não uso, mas pilotos não trazem. Já os encomendei ao BIG CAT e tenho um suporte que dá para levar dois a voar em parelha.

Good job even if I think it's not possible extend flaps keeping slats raised and anyway I've never seen a Starfighter parked with flaps extended and/or speed brake opened.

One mistake though and sorry! Lockheed C-2 ejection seat that you used didnt had the "curtain" handles only the one betwwen legs. MB Gq-7A On later versions of the f-104 had them. Your work is amazing though just try to align much better the decals! Just a friendly advise!Keep going

Hi Alex! Awesome job on a jet I had the pleasure to fly many years ago. I haven't read all the comments and maybe someone already pointed it out, but the radome is upside down. Those two large air exhausts shouldn't be on top of it but below.

Very nice build but....... leading and trailing edge flps must be down (or up) together 15° in takeoff position. Sorry but in the case of the model, only trailing flaps are down. That is a malfuncion well known by pilots like me. Anycase, don't be afraid, I found very often this common error. Sincerely, congratulations for this great build... Tiger18. 21st sqn. IAF

The incorrect placement of the rescue decal on an otherwise superb model males me want to scream. There's literally moulded detail in the exact shape of the handle on the decal, and you've stuck it next to the detail and not overlayed it. Gaaaahhhhh!
