Fake ship or not, this is stunning. Beautiful work Alex. Between you, and Harry in Australia, both of you provide so much inspiration to novice modellers like me. Thank you. ❤

You’re Ship look great! I build it my self and finished it today. I was a joy to build and a very great experience. The super glue on mine wasn’t needed i use the standard revell glue thats included with this model and it Works just fine. Do you have any tips for how not to leave glue prints on the ship becouse when i glue the model i often have alot of glue on my hands and then i touch the model and it leaves prints, any tips how to avoid it or wash it way??

I thought your Vasa build was fun, but the La Sirene looks to be even more fun! Personally, I like the red lines along the hull as it makes it pop! As for the ship being real or not, I don't think it matters. What's important is the fun it gives building it, and this kit has lots of that. Looking forward to part 2!

I have the Airfix Vosper M.T.B and German E-Boat, very old kits from the '70s. This PT-109 would go well with them, I think. Beautiful build, Alex, you really let the character of the boat shine through. Love the shell casings too, what a great detail to add!

Could you glue some of the photo etch on top of the original? The window frames, why cant you paint the frames then attach them on top of the plastic frames? You have to cut out all the plastic parts?. I have this model and I'm collecting parts for it now.

Well Alex, thanks to your inspiring video here, I did it, I managed to find one of these kits and got it. The kit was not cheap, and I will not attempt it until I feel ready as I still have lots to learn, but it will be waiting for that day! Needless to say, I will be keenly interested in how you progress with yours, taking notes as I go. No rush though Alex as I know how difficult making these superb videos you do are.

@@AlexModeling I do Alex, it's the 2nd most expensive kit I've ever bought, the first being a 1:350 Hasegawa N.Y.K Line Hikawa Maru. Already ordered some 1:72 English Pirate figures for the deck by Orion. I think they will help bring the ship to life. 🙂 Anyways, still lots to learn from yourself, Harry in Australia too but one day, I will build it! In too deep to turn back now! 😄

You were probably mixing up the shrouds (the vertical ropes supporting the mast ) with the ratlines (the horizontal ropes used by the sailors to climb up to the yards). Since ropes strech, the ratlines sagged a bit, so the horizontal lines should have a droop in them and not be straight.

Very well put together with meticulous attention to detail, but for me the weathering on the paintwork rather spoiled things as did the way out of scale ratlines. The magnificence was lost to my eyes.

David R Lentz, USA In 1992, round the 400th anniversary of Cristoforo Columbu's voyage across the Atlantic under the aegis of Queen Isabella of Spain, the Spanish government commemorated the occasion in sending across that same ocean a replica of the Santa Maria. It eventually came to Columbus, Ohio, where on numerous occasions have I seen it.

Well done mate. Lovely finish. You ask about weathering rules? There are NO rules mate. I love my weathering - just do what feels right and persist with the hairspray. Two light coats only. Then let dry and spray top coat. Go easy gets the finer chips - just takes a little patience.

Hello! I have been using GHAD-39 for over a year. In my opinion, I received a very good quality pistol. So far, I have not changed any parts in it and there is no problem. Last years I tried Fengda, Chromax and others. I have an H&S Ultra with 0.2, but the Gaahleri is the first one that I can say was worth it 😉

I like your work. I'm just going to give you a criticism, and as I don't want it to seem that I want to say “I know better”, I'll explain the reason. Many modelers recently use a lot of cyanoacrylate glue, which is very fast. This apparently makes the work easier, but it has an important problem: it is very rigid. Wood is a material that “suffers” a lot from the impact of factors such as temperature and humidity. It shrinks and expands. We could say that it “breathes”. And such rigid glues tend to break the joints. In my opinion and experience, carpenter's glue (white glue) is a better choice, even if it is slower. However, I applaud your decision to use “contact or impact glue” for the second liner. I think that's great, even if it is a sometimes messy and tedious job. Another comment: it is much more comfortable if you start working the rigging mast by mast instead of all at the same time. I usually start at the stern and work my way forward. But this is ONLY one way to do it. Hint: and my last comment: there is nothing sadder than “leaving” a cannon stuck on deck next to the gunwale. Cannons used to have at least one thick rope (braga in Spanish) to control recoil, and a set of pulleys to bring the cannon closer to the gunwale and another set of pulleys to move it away (I don't know the English terminology). But with barrels the size of your model, the effect is spectacular. I recommend it.
