It's so nice to see someone repair something rather than toss it and buy a new one. Great Job!

I have a Singer 247. It sews beautifully. But last owner cracked a gear. Repairman said it wouldn’t be worth fixing. Maybe not to him. Thanks to you, I now have the confidence to try it myself! Thank you for sharing

He meant that for the time it takes to do it he would have to charge more than the price of a new machine. In the auto insurance business this is called a total loss.

This is the most beautiful repair video I have ever seen. The layout of the parts is wonderful, the closeups of the parts assembly is great, and the video editing is awesome. It must have taken as long to assemble the video as it did to rebuild the sewing machine. I came for hints to disassemble my Singer 57820 machine (broken reverse lever), and while your video didn't provide any answers to my question, it was wonderful to watch.

My new favorite video, Andre. A deeper dive than my 100 plus parts of Cute video. People can see what a machine entailed in the mid '70's. I have some idea of what it takes to storyboard, record, edit, render, and upload this video. Superb production values. So nicely done, Sir. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic video! This was an invaluable reference when I attempted to replace this same gear. I ended up discovering a way to replace the gear without having to remove the top shaft. I took pictures and made a video although it is only a slideshow of photos and my stammering narration. I referenced your video a few times in my video and even included a few screenshots of yours. I linked your video in my description along with Andy Tube and a guy in France who 3D printed a replacement gear. Thanks so much for taking the time to document your process with such high production values!

Brillant! And very helpul, too! Thank you so much for this great video. Only flaw I spotted was in 17:04, bobbin should turn counter-clockwise, if I'm not mistkaken. But again, brillant work, fantastic photography. Three cheers to the entire team behind this masterpiece. Oh, and what a joy to see neat fingernails in the super close-ups :)

For both of my sewing machines (brother and singer) yes, the thread bobin should be put on the side that makes the thread want to go to the right and then you take the thread and make it go to the left, through the slot (Hope i'm clear, english is not my native language). I've been told that it would help with below thread tension

Hoje despia toda, mas ela(máquina) venceu-me pelo cansaço, voltei a vesti-la toda sem sobrar parafusos... Amazing video man! Crazy to think how much engineering and evolution have gone into the making of sewing machines that you can pick up relatively cheaply. All the goodies are hidden inside out of sight. I would imagine you have to know about all the adjustments and settings to be able to reassemble the machine correctly and have a manual hidden around somewhere? Or you're just the macho studly knowledge master and have a feel for the tension on everything? Now that you have the "beast" back together and are crankin' out the little windsocks, you have to up the challenge to the one I offered on your FB page. Let me know if you need a repost here.

The time you took to source the parts and the care you took to disassemble, clean, layout and reassemble all while videoing the process was compelling and satisfied the OCD in me. Great music, great lighting and great edit! Love your work Andre! Thanks for the video. One question, was the green clip at 15:40 a 3D printed part?

@@AndreBandarra1 Yes, l would. I'm a sewing machine mechanic and l have a customer's machine that needs that very gear and shaft replaced. I'll have to tell them that they can buy a new machine for less than the cost of my labor to fix it. New machines are made so cheaply (in china) they would be better off buying an older machine from a yard sale. I have a solid body Kenmore that l bought from Goodwill for $30 that will last for at least another 40 years. When I told a guy that l fix sewing machines, he said "Is that still a thing?"
