Mike is the man. I bother him from time to time and he always has great stories and small bits of information to spare. And yes, still rocking my 836cc that we put together with his stage 2 head after 10 years and I ride the piss out of it!

The markings are likely gonna be pretty accurate a lot of the time. If you're really trying to blueprint build an engine, you absolutely cannot go wrong with plastiguage and a dial bore guage. Anytime you upgrade hardware with a higher clamping force (like ARP), it's also normally worth line honing the block (or atleast double checking for roundness), as the caps or block will likely distort. More so of an issue on aluminum blocks, but this applies to all engines. Obviously not so much of an issue with a basic refresh!
@milezero.racersАй бұрын
Yup all of these measurements were professionally done! There were a few things i didn’t film but all my point was when reading the bearings was basically that most of the time when you replace bearings on these 750’s there are 2 colors that are most commonly used and a few that are never used. So of course we took measurements to check but let’s say someone doesn’t have that ability, it’s not the end of the world if you just roll with what’s most common. Again that’s super generalized and is a case by case thing but i always recommend double checking tolerances

U can get alloy rods for these engines but their life might b limited balancing crank rods and pistons always a good idea

@@karlvanboxel561 it’s very durable and yea i will be ceramic coating the cases for added protection. The powder if done right is very strong. The only thing you want to be careful with is the use of brake clean

Hey man, I hope you’re doing well! I’ve been following you on Instagram and TikTok for a while now, and I recently discovered your KZbin channel-it’s been incredibly inspiring. Your content has sparked a real passion in me to pursue getting a CB 750 and fully immersing myself in everything about it, from basic maintenance to complete restorations. With this being said, what book/s or any type of resource, do you or Mike consider 'absolute' that would help me do a full complete restoration and understand A-Z about the CB750? However, I face some challenges that I would really appreciate an honest and realistic take of opinion. In my area, there are no specialists or resources for vintage motorcycles, particularly Honda CBs. Parts availability is also very slim, and I worry that this might make it unrealistic to learn everything and give my shot at restoring one. Thank you so much for sharing your journey-it’s been a huge source of inspiration and motivation for me! I’d really appreciate any advice or insight you could share.

Love the video's and great to see you had a fantastic time building the bike. I'd love to know more about your experience. Budget, costs, working with Mike etc. I'm about to buy a beat to hell 1979 CB 750 with a seized engine. I'm assuming the worst. I'm looking for the best to help me, and help me learn similar to you. What's the best way I can get in touch?
