Dear everyone! I have been touched beyond words by the love and compassion and acceptance shown towards me by Lisa and her team and by this gorgeous community. It’s not lost on me that Lisa took a chance on me and treated me with such kindness and integrity throughout, and at points in the video where she could have interrupted me to push her products, she just let me talk. Angel! How few people would have done that. I did this because I don’t have to know you to love you, and I love you deeply and I dream of building a circle of compassion amongst us of which no one is left out. Most of all I want you to know that if you ever feel without out hope, that after rain must come sun. As Winston Churchill said “if you are going through hell, keep going” one foot in front of the next. I wasn’t going to give any of my details, but I did say I was going to live my life out in the day light! … so once again my most heart felt thank you to Lisa and her beautiful, beautiful team and for the avalanche of love I have been met with… I will cherish this my whole life. Love Rebecca.

Tw; abuse….. but I was severely abused and mistreated by a boyfriend in my 20’s. the thing that would set him off the worst was when I did my makeup to go out. When I finally freed myself from him, the first thing I bought was a bright red MAC lipstick. I cherished that lipstick so much because it symbolized my freedom. Thank you so much for sharing your story, makeup is so interconnected to femininity and many people don’t realize how important it is. Your ex sounds really insecure and immature ! I've known a few of the kind. Seen them breaking other girls' self worth, then back chatting them for good measure... Also some of my peers' mothers were treated badly by their husbands. Wich made my blood boil ! So at 14 I decided no man will ever take control over me. I can date. Be in a relationship. But it's my way, or hit the highway... Now at 62, I still live by that rule. Makeup is great ! It's gotten me through cancer twice, by way of transforming me from ghost looking, to glowing. Not with hope, but with determination. Oh, and red lips is a proper statement ! Love from Norway 😊❤

Yeah. We in the US have the most insecure political leader outside of Russia, China and Hungary. But Melania struck back by wearing a dark suit (like going to a funeral) and the coup de gras: a hat that covered so much of her face he had to duck under it to barely give her a kiss on the cheek! Wow, not a big makeup girl here, especially if the abuse negatively impacts finances, but this is true for me too. I myself was a "loser" stuck with my abusive family of origin. Makeup is like a knitting project and you get better but it also makes you think about yourself and what you want to project out. It's not just about how others view you. For me, it was about getting in touch with my teen and child self and who I wanted to be when I grew up.

Thank you, Lisa and Rebecca. I loved this video so much and have never cried whilst watching KZbin - but this is what happened in the last few seconds when Rebecca caught glance of herself and the end product. Rebecca I learned so much from you. I am not a victim of domestic violence and cannot even imagine what you have been through. You are a very strong and extremely beautiful woman - your radiance glows from within. My husband passed away in April 2024. He died on our 36th wedding anniversary. You have taught me to "follow the plan and not the mood." And about learning to name what you are feeling - through your psychotherapy. And that you don't have to immediately transform yourself - just know your next step. I also learned wonderful words and terms like cotidian ( I had to look it up in the dictionary), and sorry that you experienced that daily trauma. And being a Roman Empress to embrace your nose (actually I think you look like Lady Gaga). That Lisa is your 'northern star' and that putting on makeup was grounding exercises for you and that it was an act of defiance whilst you were healing. I feel like I just received a free 27:58 minute psychotherapy session. God bless you Rebecca and congratulations on being brave enough to join Lisa and share your personal journey. As always Lisa - you discuss the value of makeup as an art and a transformative experience. Thank you. I will now get up - put on my sunscreen and light layer of makeup with my favourite mascara and lipstick - to follow the plan and not my mood. Love form sunny Sydney, Australia.

Makeup made me come out of my shell and believe that I wasn’t ugly or my skin color wasn’t a bane. It helped me deal with acne in my late teens and early twenties and now helps me get over stressful days. I was raised in a culture where makeup was frowned upon and male family members, relatives or friends would always associate it with being “fake” or “derogatory”. I knew it was just their insecurities but it did thwart my creativity and willingness to explore more artistic looks early on. I am now grateful to be surrounded by a partner who encourages self expression and self love. Thank you, Rebecca, for sharing your story. So much love and blessings to you. Thank you so much for your kind words … you say something that I’ve really struggled with too on a very deep level “humiliation” which I identified a shame! It’s been the most painful emotion I’ve ever felt… but would you look at that women going through what you went through and say “ you should be ashamed” no you definitely wouldn’t, you’d see that woman back then and feel love and compassion for her and you have to identify that that woman is you and she deserves your love and compassion that your would extend to others, and extend it to yourself and to hold your head up high as a survivor not a victim. As Gisele Pelicot said “ La honte doit changer de camp” meaning shame must change sides… the shame and humiliation is their’s not our’s . We are a sisterhood. Love to you xxxxx

Rebecca's beautiful soul shines through her beautiful face! Lovely to see women caring for each other. That's where the real female strength and solidarity shines through! 🥰🥰🥰 And I too believe makeup and skincare are both therapy. It feels good to take care of ourselves. Men foolishly think we do it for them but I think almost all of us do it for us. ☺

This was deeply moving and inspiring Lisa. How serendipitous that you visited the pop-up when Rebecca was there and she could tell you how much your videos helped her during those very dark times. Your videos have helped me too-through the last years of an emotionally abusive marriage and continue to help me now that I'm thankfully out of it and moving slowly forward. 'Follow the plan not the mood' is an utterly brilliant phrase and something that I know will help me in the coming months and years. I'm deeply grateful to you both. How beautiful Rebecca looked after you'd applied her makeup. Thankyou, as ever, for this very calming and gently distracting video that this time was very meaningful too x

Oh Lisa bless you, you truly did impact this woman's life in such a positive way at a time when positivity was low on the ground. So lovely that you took the time to have her on a video, give her a voice that she had not had for so long and reinforced the fact that she is a survivor--and a beautiful one at that!! You not only helped to erase the scars physically but also mentally for her. Well done to you both:).

What a beautiful woman, inside and out. So much of what you’ve said here resonates with me and I’m sure will have the same effect on other women too. Thank-you for your bravery. It was my children which made me leave my ex-husband too; I wanted them to see me happy in a happy and loving relationship. Best thing I ever did. Thank-you, both x ❤

Thank you!! You touch on something that is so true, I knew that if I didn’t leave my daughter would recreate this same relationship. I grew up in that relationship, found that relationship and just begged myself to brake that intergenerational trauma. I’m so so pleased for all of you. Much love xxxx

This was such a beautiful video to watch in every way. Lisa, you always bring a feeling of sisterhood, friendship and warmth. What a stunningly beautiful, strong and resilient women Rebecca is and what a true inspiration. Her coping mechanisms apply, not only to the awful situation she found herself in, but also in life, in general when things get tough. Wonderful ❤

I have women who don't wear makeup make comments to me about having to "do that every morning" (and I don't wear much makeup). I respond by saying that the ten minutes in the morning putting on my makeup is my little art session, it helps me prepare for the day and it's my daily act of self-care. I think makeup is an art form and I love watching how other women use this art form, in the same way as I love watching how other women create things out of fabric, or recreate their homes, two other things I love doing. Rebecca's nose is perfect for her face, so glad that she didn't every have work done on it!!!
