Let's take the portable radio with us through Colmar, France! Track our location on aprs.fi and send/receive SMS messages. APRS packet radio is a global amateur radio messaging network allowing you to communicate not only with other radios, but also phones and various internet-connected services. Let's go on an APRS adventure and see if it works in Eastern France.
Post production note: Paris, your APRS coverage is extremely poor (okay, it sux, there, I said it). Please ask me or the community for help setting up APRS digipeaters. I did this same test in Montemarte, the right bank, and SacreCoeur. Only one packet was received from the top of the mountain through a gate 60 miles away.

France requires an FCC Extra class license to operate 2m. Seems excessive.

It may be because they don't have as many classes of operators. I know Poland is like that. 😂

actually CEPT countries should not require a license unless you want to stay for an extended period of time. 🎉
