Yes, the 20min timer is hindering. And so are the masses of trainers using hacked Pokémon with names like 'Machamp.co' as well as the overwhelming amount of unexperienced trainers who spam legendaries and mythicals without any strategy. It's a real delight to face trainers who clearly have a non-legendary strategy such as a rain team, trickroom team or trap set up.

And remember the only type that resists physic in the first gen is physic.
