Looks like a very nice ride... I've ridden quite a bit in Europe (and even more in the US where I live) but not had the chance in Scotland yet (it's on my list just no opportunity). Also a nice video for new riders showing how a road like that SHOULD be ridden for safety... I can't make videos like that because I'd surely give in to the temptation to engage in some shenanigans. Lovely country!

I/we've done this and it's a thoroughly enjoyable ride ! Thing is people that's not of the biking sort don't believe this is real ? Its fantastically real but out of this world 2 do it ! Beautiful 👍👍👍

I've ridden that road to and from the campsite on both my Harleys laden down with loads of camping equipment (and 16 inch ape-hangers !) and it never fails to take all my attention and skills from my 40+ year riding life. I urge everyone to try it at least once - it is not the hardest road to ride but you will probably not see much of the scenery ! Even in a car you never stop being overawed with the journey.

I have done Apple cross pass every year for the last 7 years cracking ride. No need to worry about the route at all. I have no idea why people think it’s a hard ride to ride. I race up it 70 80 mph just live the road. You can see way a head so if you need to pull in you can. Best roads in the UK. Best time to go end of May or first 2 weeks in June no migies. Can not wait till May 2020 the coastal route back round to lochness is just stunning.

I salute you, sir. We did the NC500 in June 2019. We found the motorcyclists to be most arrogant and inconsiderate on the route, expecting the cars to always give way or even reverse because they wouldn't bother to pull off at the passing areas. I have subsequently watched numerous bike tours around the coast and these have confirmed my original conception. You have broken that mold. You show consideration and care at every turn. Well done and thank you. We did the trip by car, but my intention is to do it again by bike. Thanks for the informative video.

Only started motorcycling in 2020. Plan to do NC500 in 2021 (booked range of dates from May to August in hope Covid let’s us out). I like your relaxed style to touring/riding the route 👍.

Thanks for watching. I don't see any point in rushing when I'm on tour. So much to see and you need to take time to take it all in [thumbsup] Good luck when you finally get there yourself. It is magnificent countryside.

My wife also rode this on her fz8 and she is a novice rider with no problems at all.

Good work sir! Looking to do this myself this year. I've done Kirkstone, Llanberis and Porlock Hill, but this does seem daunting by comparison.

Enjoy and thanks for watching, I will be doing it again myself, in the reverse direction, at the end of April [thumbsup]

At last I have got to see Bealach Na Ba in all its glory. Did it by bike twice in the 1990's First time it was raining with low cloud, second time was in THICK FOG!! That was certainly a buttock clenching ride A shame you didn't show the view from the top looking across though.

as a novice biker I find the prospect of those hairpins slightly daunting, would you say its easier doing the NC500 anticlockwise so coming down the hairpins instead of going up?
@RetroBiker5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. I personally do find hairpins easier going down hill. I will be posting a video in a week or two of me coming 'down' the Bealach hairpins in thick fog. I think you might find it worth a watch. The secret is to be positive and confident, they really aren't that bad [thumbsup]

Just forget the normal way of riding ie leaning into the bend and keep your weight over the other side when riding the hairpins or the camber will have you.
