Don't know how many times over the last half century or so I've been over the Bealach but I never tire of it. Going over to work at 4am in the summer is spectacular. Lots of family and friends in Lochcarron and Kishorn. The oil rig yard at Russell in Kishorn was where the Ninian Central platform was built in the 70's by Howard Doris. Now Kishorn Ports Ltd they repair and recycle rigs and boats. Spent many a long happy summer at my grandparents in Kishorn and Lochcarron before that. Can remember Kishorn before the yard was built.

Hi both, must say a very technical road superbly handled not easy especially two up. I absolutely love touring Scotland especially the west coast, and as you so rightly said you must do the western isles one day, starting with Arran working north finishing with Outer Hebrides , simply stunning. cant wait till you see the white sands and turquoise seas around Sutherland county coastline. Thank you.

Hi Stephen, thanks! yeah the road’s surface mid corner was an extra surprise but all good 😄. The West Coast is truly spectacular -even more than we thought it would be. Looking forwards to the day we return to explore the Isles. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave an encouraging comment 😎👍🏻

The mysterious 'Isle Of Skye' you're looking at at 13:00 is actually Raasay and the table top hill on it is called Dun Caan. The small Island to the North of Raasay is Rona.

Loch Kishorn has the oil rig repair and manufacturing site that you passed. In the mid 1970s it built the world’s largest oil rig that was actually build using concrete. Build by the Ninian group, then pulled out and round the top of Scotland and out to the North Sea. My dad was at Kishorn in 1975 building it. We were up there last December staying in Lochcarron and did the pass.

Itchyboots left a gap. Delighted you were so complimentary about the Wild Atlantic Way. If you visit the East of Ireland, cracking mountain drive between Hollywood (the original) and Glendalough. The Glen is very scenic and the remains of a 1000 year old monastic village can be seen. Its a well know motorcycling route, and all the guys and girls congregate at weekends in Lynhams Hotel in Laragh or the nearby cafe and exaggerate the angle of lean they get to going over the Wicklow gap. Be delighted to get you a decent coffee because of the enjoyment I'm getting from the videos!

Another good one ! Great drone footage as usual. I’m afraid that despite the pass being a ‘go to’ for lots of bikers - it is a pretty poor riding surface, and the hairpins are extremely nadgery. (You possibly fluffed the first hairpin, not surprising - you need the corner speed to haul the bike upright, but the surface tells you to go slow). The residents of Applecross would be delighted to be known as a town, but it is a very small village. The Applecross Inn is apparently still a fantastic place for meals (when you can get in!). When was the video shot? I ask because the rig that is in the drydock at Kishorn was partially demolished a couple of months ago. That yard was the one used to build Ninian Central production platform - around a third of a million tonnes in weight. Now it does occasional maintenance on drilling rigs and decommissioning (as it was doing when you passed). Keep it up - I always look forward to your vlogs.

They couldn't really make it one way as it's the route the locals use and the only other way out of applecross would entail a 30 to 40 mile detour. Delivery lorries manage it fine, including the articulated petrol tanker, I think the issues come due to people not looking far enough ahead to anticipate what's coming.

We usually just fly it to wherever we are and land it, but if we have gone some distance it's always best to reset the home point at regular intervals (we usually just land it and take off again to make sure). It's the Mini4 Pro but we did have the 3 also which produced fantastic footage too.

Fell off on that horrible off camber hairpin on the pass, avoiding a motorhome😬, it was raining and I was very tired, saved by my hard panniers and a big farmer who helped me pick it up. Stayed at the Inn, great scallops and local beer saved the day. Stunning part of Scotland, among many…

@SeanandEmily

Yeah it’s beautiful! They are both fantastic and unique in their own way. The WAW is more cliffs directly into the sea so really raw and dramatic. Whereas so far this route is in and out of lots of sea inlets (must also say lochs incase people get triggered 🤣). Wouldn’t say one is better than the other as we’ve had an amazing time riding both. 😎👍🏻

2:53 Loch Carron is relatively shallow so there are broad areas exposed at low tide - which smell fishy. The road over the pass is not particularly dangerous - the low speeds forced by the hairpin bends mean that there are very few accidents. Most are a result of dropping a wheel into the ditch at the side of the road - leading to tyre damage and a long wait to clear the resulting backlog.
