Full Cruise Review - P&O Iona Norwegian Fjords - May 2024

We took our first ever #cruise on the P&O #iona ship in May 2024. We travelled to the #norwegianfjords stopping off at Stavanger, Olden, Ålesund & Haugesund. In this video we'll talk our opinions on the cabin, ship, ports, food, drinks, entertainment... Everything we did!

Delighted that you both enjoyed it. Having sailed on P&O many times and on Iona I think this is a such an accurate review of the ship, restaurants and bars. The only thing you missed out on was the 710 club which I genuinely think you would have both loved. I’m guessing the Gary Barlow association and the theming put you off. The band is made up of some seriously talented musicians who deliver an incredible sound in an intimate setting. If you enjoyed the busker you would most definitely love the 710 club band

It was good to hear your thoughts on all of the restaurants. Sindhu sounds great. We absolutely love a bit of room service on a cruise. We wondered about the drinks package for P&O our only thought was soft drinks but I think you are right when you have already paid for drinks on the ship it feels like you are wasting money to drink off the ship. All of your stops looked so fun! I dont think I would like a cruise with tons of sea days but I do like a couple of them. Hahaha the Gary Barlow hate made me laugh. I would like to do the Norway Iceland one but I think its on a much older ship. Alaska would be amazing!! xx

Thanks for this. I watched all the cruise vlogs too and this was a good balanced review. Never been on a cruise heading north as so far I've either done Med cruises or Carribbean cruises. Must say I would love a ffords cruise now on my ever increasing bucket list! Best wishes from Isle of Wight!

Glad you had a good time cruising, looks like we’ll be ships that pass in the night again in a couple of years time, we want to do the places you did and you want to do the place we did. Looking at your vlogs I think you definitely chose the better ship, ours was beautiful but too busy, not so busy on the Norway part, but manic on Brugge and Cherbourg, and food was just ok nothing to write home about. You definitely need to do Flam.

I think our hand has been forced a bit with stops for a future visit as the one we're looking at at the time we want to do it has the different stops! Will be nice to see other stops at least.

Thanks and very useful. When the ship docked at the ports, how many were easly walkable to the town - rough distance? . and were shuttle buses proved for any ports?

Stavanger and Alesund stopped pretty much in the town, Olden is a tiny village but very close.. typically people book an excursion like the skylift here though. Haugesund had a 15-20 minute walk to the town, I don't recall there being a free shuttle bus transfer, I think it was an extra cost but we had a tour booked so didn't use it.

How was the weather in the fjords in May? I’m thinking of going next year and worry about rain/cold. What dates did you go?

We were out there May 11th through 18th. You do need to prepare for cooler weather and rain but we were very lucky and had 20c+ weather all week.

Drinks package is very expensive and you have to get money's so good plan not to get it unlless you want 5+ cocktail's a night. Rci is the same, albeit they are cheeky you need to aso for the good stuff
