Full Cycle wash in the 1954 Whirlpool Imperial automatic washer. Doing a load of sheets and pillowcases. Overall, the machine did quite well! Hope you all enjoy the video and stay safe.

Our old Kenmore was that quiet and boy did it wash for a family of 6 with lots of dirt and mechanic grease. Got everything clean.

My grandmother had Montgomery Ward washing machines and every time she bought a new one she said that it didn’t wash as clean as her old one. This was a lady who knew as she used a scrub board when my mother was little.

Now see these are the machines that our Mother's used and never had a bit of problems with them!!! not like the junk they have out on the market today that break down every 6 months and get thrown in the junk heap after just 3 or 4 years!!! Now if this isn't proof of how machines were built back then, Then I don't know what!!! Now here's a machine that's 66 years old and still running strong, Now you do the math which one would you rather have this or one of those throw away junks??? Thanks for the great video Gso and have a great day!!!

You have to remember though that this machine wasn't in continuous use all of those years. Or maybe it was and was repaired as needed? It's in too good of shape it seems. Must have been very low use I would imagine. Looks like it was well taken care of. The porcelain still looks good. Tyler do you know any more history on this washer ?

pat cola I don’t remember where this machine came from but I do remember Tyler mentioning in a conversation 2 years ago that the 1956 Whirlpool Imperial gas dryer that I’ve uploaded to my channel came with this washer and the original owner bought this washer in 1954 then bought a dryer to go with in sometime in 1956.
@patcola73354 жыл бұрын
@@seana806 That's amazing. Only 1 owner in all that time ? This design was more modern looking than the later boxy type controls IMO. Though they were all great washers . The first slant back panels in 1966 were also beautiful.

Definitely not a continously used machine. It took some work to get it right as well. Just the nature of these machines. I will still take these any day of the week 😁

@@Gsohoover I have heard the 50s machines were generally not that reliable. When you think about it this machine was a 1954 and the automatic boom went into full swing after the war in 1947. There were definitely bugs worked out and improvements made as the decades rolled on.

This is way better than speed queen
@patcola73353 жыл бұрын
Better than the TR series definitely but the TC washes similar to this. I think Speed Queen took their agitator design from the original right here in this video.

@@patcola7335 I have a speed queen washer and it washer really well and mine has an actual agitator Not like the TR7 model but I think in a long run this washer may Not be the fastest washer No it may not spin as fast as my speed queen No but this washer washes a little bit better than mine so just my opinion

@@nightwolflee5432 Little late but as long as both machines can turn the load over there will be good cleaning. I think when this washer was made these were rated very good at cleaning. Somebody with some old consumer report magazines from that time could say for sure.

It may need to have the belt tightened just a bit for it to achieve full speed.

I have to give you a "poker" the next time I see you. You never saw a woman in the deep-south that didn't have one. Especially when tending their wringer washer! The old Whirly/Kenmores from this era had a great spray rinse. They needed it,too!

Hey Tyler, it's good to see you again! I'd like to see a full load of whites on the high water level if you still have this machine with laundry detergent and fabric softener and bleach.
@Gsohoover3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jerome, this machine needs to be fixed, hopefully will be back up in service again soon. I do not use fabric softener in my whites. It tends to put holes in my socks.
@jeromedavis85753 жыл бұрын
@@Gsohoover I use fabric softener on everything including whites without issue. Do you have any dishwashers? If you have a vintage whirlpool, I'd love to hear what they sound like - the ones prior to the powerclean models.

Jerome, I have a few dishwashers. One Whirlpool top load portable that needs some work.

@@Gsohoover I'd love to see a full cycle of the whirlpool inner workings in action with the machine on its longest cycle possible at the highest water level possible. Which way does the belt turn during operation? Does it run clockwise or counter clockwise?
