Full Cycle- 1955 Apex Wash-A-Matic Model Sixty-Eleven washing 11 pairs of shorts

11 pairs of shorts in the 1955 Apex Wash-A-Matic, this machine was found NIB back in 2020 and restored. It is a pump model and has bouncing basket agitation. I have to dose the laundry detergent like a front loader, as the machine froths up the suds. It nutates 610 times a minute and spins about 610 rpm. There is no outer tub, so during spin, it hits the cabinet. This machine is splashy! I will be doing more videos as time permits.

This is probably the closest thing to a ‘ultrasonic’ washer there will ever be. It’s funny how in various films from the 50’s and 60’s predicting the future, one of the predictions was a ultra sonic washer. Turns out, it became a reality in the 1950’s. As the saying goes “what’s old is new again”.

Excellent catch Tyler ! It's pretty cool that back in the 50s Apex was using a fiberglass tub. Must be pretty thick fiberglass with that kind of vibration.

That thing was rolling the clothes over before the machine filled with water! I don't think that was the gentle cycle...😀

What a great find! Haven't seen an Apex with this type of timer. The only one I've seen in person is Robert Seger's with the timeline control. I think his is a 1953 model.

😬 ~ unusual but no interlock/lid open-spin-stop, and the lid has a window that is splattered with water that you won’t be able to see what it is doing properly

I cannot understand how any of this is ever remotely possible. Obviously we all know Robert Seger spent 13 YEARS finding one, then RevvinKevin somehow found one, then Sweztoyz(I noticed one in his first test run video of his Bendix Gyromatic), but out of all the washing machine videos I could ever expect to appear on YOUR channel, NOT EVEN THE SLIGHTEST IDEA DID I EVER HAVE that one of said upcoming washing machine videos would be one of a freaking Apex.
