The motors in these and the Westinghouse almost have a growl to them. McGraw Edison Speed Queen also. Like that sound.

FYI Mr Clean is really good on black marks from hoses ect. And dishwasher detergent is good for cleaning filter Flo if soaked 24 hrs. Removes lots of residue. Stinky machine? Hot water and half gallon white vinegar, soak 1/2 hour and run through total cycle with the vinegar wash. Fabric softner residue and molds come right off

The GE Filter Flow with the activator agitator, is one of the best washers ever manufactured...no doubt about it.

grew up with one of these till it died and mom got a maytag 808 to replace it... the GE lasted about 12 years.. the 808, 30 years.. I liked the filter flo operation better.. but that first spin.. and all the long delays.. mom liked the quicker cycles of the maytag and faster spin..

The ACTIVATOR ramp agitator is so powerful it's pulling (SNATCHING) the clothes down to the bottom without struggling. I'm really amazed by it's effectiveness under this overloaded wash.

That was definitely a LARGE load, it managed, but why push the old girl? A new HE washer would not have this turnover or results. Built strong!

One large load like this in an HE washer would probably destroy it. These filter flo washers could handle almost anything! They were among my favorite machines!

Gso I don't think that this load was too over loaded, I use to do big loads that size all the time in my GE and everything always came out clean and never had a problem!!! As a matter of fact I wish that I had my GE set back now, I would get rid of my Speed Queen in a heartbeat to have my GE back, It was really a workhorse of a machine and I really do miss the filter flo pan system!!! I had a 1992 GE Filter Flo and even when overloaded that thing still had awesome turnover. New HE top load machines are trash!

You tend to overload all your loads. Rollover should be quick. Soap first to get well circulated therefore using less. Oxy Clean is way better than bleach and kinder to clothing or linens. 1/4 cup for extreme dirtyload and half cup detergent. Oversudsing and poor rinse can lead to body rashes and itching.

You made some autocorrect error, which is actually spelled “Oxi.” You also made some sentence errors, which should be “dirty load” and “cup detergent.” Never add words together that are not compound. Always use one space when placing words with sentences, never two.

Gso I was thinking what if you turn the top of the filter pan over and soak it in pure bleach? I’m wondering if that discoloration might bleach out.

GE washers built during this era and up to the 80s.. were one of the best made washers.. GE has failed when it comes to these new HE washers. Wish they would create a modern filter flow machine
