Hello from Cambodia , The thing inside that frog belly its called " Kroeung" the spice paste distinguished by aromatics such as lemongrass and kaffir lime that are so intrinsic to Cambodian cuisine - and is garnished with the foraged wild leaves, aromatic herbs and edible flowers so important to Cambodians for their fragrance and flavour, as much as their sense of aesthetics.

Many Cambodian dishes are made to eat with rice, so it can be salty if you eat them separately like the sausage and the chicken thigh you bought. And you didn’t get ripped off with the two pieces of meat. They are around that price. The sausage should cost $0.50 and the thigh should cost $1-1.5. Most the meatballs you ate most probably were made of pork and beef. Pork and chicken meat are the most affordable types of meat here.

The meat you guys ordered (sweet sausage and chicken) is typically eaten with rice as the flavours on its own are quite strong so the rice balances it out. The sausage is kinda like the chinese sausage its a bit more fatty and sweet.

The bitter Mellon is good for your health. It’s not cockroach, it’s a water bug. You should buy freshly cooked frog legs, one that the vendor can re-grill it for you. They take the frog meat out, chopped it up and mix it with seasoning called kreung (lemongrass with other herbs) and put it back into the frog belly. They may have mixed it with ground chicken or ground pork, I’m not sure. If the frog leg looks plum, it’s fresh, if it looks small and dried up, it’s not fresh. I love fry chives cake. You should try fry jicama cake, it’s also very good. For desert, you should try the custard, it’s so good, or better yet, fresh tropical fruits, which we have plenty of. Thank you for your bravery in eating our street food and for coming to visit Cambodia. Safe travel!

Good video. Welcome to Cambodia. Those deep fried stuff are made of fish paste and you need to dip in that sauce, otherwise they wouldn’t taste that good. Grilled bananas are good. stuffed frogs, I’m not a big fan 😂 That sausage was a khmer sausage, it’s sure I’m the sweeter side which khmer people would eat with either rice or porridge. It’s really different from American or European sausages.
