As someone who works adjacent to the healthcare industry, this entire thing made me cringe just because of my job it’s so ingrained in my head that this is a BIG no-no! This is technically a HIPAA violation and especially because we know the patients first and last name, where he lives, etc. but I guess if Jimmy gave his consent to share this info maybe it’s okay? For context, a doctor publicly releasing health information like this can affect a persons ability to get hired at a job, it can affect their insurance rates/premiums, it can affect so many aspects of their lives having this information out there publicly. For someone like jimmy it probably doesn’t matter but it was a risky move on the part of this HCP

He was a Florida med school student, basically one of the states that produces the lowest quality doctors. Can't compare a California graduate (one of the best med school states) to a Florida graduate (one the worst med school states). Florida has 1 decent veterinary university though lol

With peace and love it’s not true that personality disorders don’t effect functioning (e.g bpd and the ability to hold down a job, maintain relationships etc) and histrionic personality disorder is now widely regarded as an outdated diagnosis often used back in the day to put your wife in an asylum. Also autism isn’t a personality disorder it’s a developmental disorder lol. Im not a psychiatrist but I have published an array of academic research in clinical psychology and stuff like this bugs me

@@bryan5065 Thank you thank you for the info (genuinely). I find that so bizarre. In the UK its viewed as rather outdated. Theres a great book I recommend called Unwell Women about how misogyny impacts how we view illness (esp. mental illness). I myself was misdiagnoosed with BPD when I in fact had autism. I often wonder how commonplace this is in histrionic patients, where 'meltdowns' are seen as histrionic episodes. Complete conjecture on my part though, so take it with a grain of salt, im warning you with peace and love. Family

Lmao psychiatrists have to check blood pressure and heart beats too. They're medical doctors. They can check your heart if your psych meds are affecting them, etc. also residents still have to do off service rotations (peds, internal, emerge)

Ok, no. I'm going to add to this. I actually have a completed psych degree and this is not accurate psychological information. He used the term trauma bond wrong and he said he WANTED to diagnose him with a personality disorder. That's already a conflict and he should remove himself from the situation. Also, there's so much more to HPD than what this guy could have observed before tossing that diagnosis on the internet. Jimmie could have HPD, he could have narcissistic personality disorder. There's no way this "doctor" (he's a fucking resident who likes to cosplay as a doctor with a stethoscope) performed a legitimate, COMPLETE psychological evaluation.

I’m a licensed social worker and in the field with psychiatrists all the time. Tbh, it’s kind of a bummer he got in trouble for this. He clearly loved the work he does and cares. As far as I know, Jimmy gave full consent for this. More people SHOULD discuss mental health and doing it light heartedly is refreshing. Y’all have no idea how awful many doctors are to work with. They’re people too and seeing an MD that’s fun gives me hope. As far as people commenting about his opinions about the disorders or whatever; he’s allowed to hold his clinical judgement and share it. There are a lot of firmly held beliefs about psychiatry and mental health that are simply untrue, despite being widely held opinions. You may be unaware of this unless you’re in the field.

I couldn’t disagree more with your rationale here. It’s wildly unethical to do what he did. Drawing attention to someone with a condition like Jimmys does a lot to exacerbate his condition, and it’s entirely possibly he gave his “consent” with the assumption that this guy could make him more famous. Nonmaleficence is one of main ethical codes amongst all professions. Moreover, unless he has a lawyer or knowledge of law to write a consent that will actually hold up in court matters here. Also saying that he “can’t give him a handicap sticker” because of his alleged HPD and ASD isn’t a professional thing to say, to put it nicely. This is not helpful way for people to approach mental health, and he is not a good role model for psychiatrists.
