We are all connected through universal consciousness. We are all sparks of the divine and when you pray you are sending out a message to everyone and everything and you get back what you put out in return. You are asking the universe for positive vibrations. Meditation is the listening to prayers "asking".

Prayer is simply from the heart. My older son was a few minutes late joining the family for nightly bedtime prayers. So, he opened his prayer with " hello Dad" , then he stopped when he realized he had said that out loud. His Dad and I realized that he thought of God as his heavenly father.

It amazes me how other systems have correspondences. The word Samadhi comes to mind which would be the state arrived at when one follows the process the Rabbi recommends. At some point it would be the realization of The Unity of All Things. Our God is ONE. In addition to the four step process described, his emphasis on the emotion behind things feels right to me as well. Words are nothing but an empty shell unless you add heart and soul. Our Rabbi leads the way, we need to follow. I won't give up, no matter how many times I fall or how hard it gets. Let's go 2025! Buying his book is one way to show your gratitude for his sharing of wisdom...

In the spiritual system I practice which is like a mix of Kabbalah and eastern practices we have what we call the moment of now. And when 10 or more people are in the moment of now, all with the same exact intention and single point of focus, that 10 becomes 1000 in value and makes miracles.

Love the 10 Thieves breaking into heaven! Thank you. Many do not connect to God in "sit still/be quiet" or prescribed ritual. I encourage them to explore kinetic options (Sufi Spins, rhythmic exercise, knitting or crochet, for example) and their own affirmations. Creating, in which body/mind/soul merge into co-creation, is one of the purest forms of prayer. Even using patterns and recipes counts, by example of the Master Creator. First verb in the Bible?

Prayer is framing the otherwise insignificance of everyday existence. On that purpose it emulates the service of the beit hamigdasch, assuming the shchina is present in dvejkut with each community anywhere on earth.

Isaiah 53: 4-9 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. By oppression and judgement he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished. He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was there any deceit in his mouth. His name is Yeshua, Jesus Christ the Messiah, the Great I AM, the one who became a sacrifice for sin, the one who came to us in human form to free us, yet we acknowledged him not. The Jews wandered through the desert for 40 years, but has it ever come to mind that they've been wondering for the past 2000 years awaiting a messiah that already came and left. And will return once more, this time to judge.

Prayer, all people that believe in a higher power at some time in life realize the rituals of prayer are not truly prayer but a recitation. As a child we pray the prayers we are taught, plus we add our wants and desires. Ritualistic prayer is not prayer it's a recital. True prayer is a conversation with God. He knows all our cares, needs, and desires before we ask. To have a true relationship with God prayer becomes a conversation with God, and that means we also have to be silent and listen. Gods will be done, not mine.

Rabbi Jacobson, your experience with “traditional” Judaism is understandable and is the very reason that Jesus (Yeshua) clashed with the Pharisees of old. They were full of religious practices which lacked Spirit. They had placed their oral traditions in front of the Tanakh, effectively superseding God and his word. I highly recommend you read the New Testament which flows seamlessly from the Tanakh. It is the completion of God’s story, from Adam to Abraham to Moses and the Prophets, who were all pointing to the coming Messiah. New Testament quotes: Matt 15:3 He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition”? Matt 15:6 “Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.”

Does your God have a name? Mine does. I read in the Holy Scripture that we are to prey to one God,Almighty God and he has a name. A lot of us prey. Is God listening to all prayers?

An atheist asks the Rabbi how many Gods he believes in, the Rabbi says of course there's just one. OK says the atheist, but how many Gods are there have been in the world, the Rabbi thinks for a second and says, it's very difficult to say, but it's probably over a thousand, to which the atheist replies, you see we're not that different, because I only believe in 1 less God than you.
