I've been in that car situation myself! I was a high schooler with a job on the side and my ex conned me into getting "US" a car. paid in full with my last dime leaving my account empty. he told me since I didn't have a license or insurance that it needed to be in his name. I saw the car a total of 3x before he totaled it with his side chick in the passenger seat while being chased down by the cops. he has been incarcerated ever since and left me pregnant, carless, and broke.

Speaking from experience b/c I’ve been through this exact same thing myself. When I was 16 I dated a man 7 yrs my senior and he took advantage of that. He had a house which he inherited from his late mother whom passed. The house was located about 30 to 45 minutes from my hometown. I left hm to live with him @ 16. During that time, He never taught me how to drive and never wanted me to do anything outside the house. Sometimes he would take the house phone when he went to work. He was my shadow and only allowed me miumual freedom. Therefore, in my opinion he’s as abusive as her former boyfriends just in a more subtle way. She notices the patterns b/c she’s dealt with it in the past. He took advantage of her b/c he’s aware of her past. However, she still externalized her power by being too passive b/c a person will only do what u allow them to do. I wish the judge could have given her the car b/c by his own admission she purchased it with HER MONEY. Hopefully, things have changed for the better and they are doing well as they’ve stated.
