Wanted to thank Vlad again for making this awesome video and add some tips that I think make this easier! First, wear gloves for sure because there are some sharp edges on the underlip of the car frame. Plus it will just save your hands in general. Two, use the stock o-ring and FLIP IT OVER, fitting the small lip of the o-ring into the groove. This creates the same gap size that is present on the stock lights and will make it much easier to seat the 3 prong light housing. Next, use a flashlight to see exactly where the aggressive prongs are (two prongs have an angled edge, one prong has uniform sides). It's literally like a puzzle piece and must go in this way. Once you determine its orientation, adjust the ring on the light fixture so the prongs match and the wire ends up pointing straight down when you install the light (screwing it in clockwise about 45 degrees). The LED must end up with the lights pointing towards 9 and 3 o'clock - this creates a nice, strong beam. If it's off too far, the light will scatter.

Just changed my low beams, fog lights, and turn signals all using the products/links you provided. So far so good (2018 GC Laredo). I must say the low light on the driver side was particularly brutal. DONT FORGET TO SWAP OUT THE GASKETS. It took me a sec to remember that and I tore up my hands trying to get it in with the oversized gasket. Clocking isn't too bad, just remember what angle the OEM sits at before you unscrew it, and then align the 3 tab pattern on the new light to match the OEM. Wear safety glasses when doing the fog light or you will get an eye full of dirt. Thanks for the video!

Thank you for making this video. It convinced me to do the swap to LED. I went with your recommended brand. Thanks for the pro tip on the headlight seal. Fog lights were super easy. Less than 5 mins on both. The hardest part for me was clocking the low beam headlight bulb. I installed them today and they are awesome. I highly suggest anyone that does this replaces EVERY bulb in the front of the car. The low beams are the hardest and you'll already have everything apart. The high beams are super simple, and so are the front marker lights. Its looks much better if u upgrade all of them. The high beam LEDs are great for those dark roads. Also, the fog light / headlight bulbs he suggested are polarity sensitive, so check they work BEFORE you reinstall them. I bought the same brand he shows for all my fog lights, low beams, and high beams (All white for me). It looks so much better. Fair warning - I've never had led headlights bulbs like these last more than a few years. Despite the "led" lasting basically forever, the electronics behind them usually fail after a few years. The last set I used in a previous car, I opted for the fan less type that just had braided ribbon wire as an external heat sink (one less thing to fail not having fans). They fit almost anywhere (I even have them on my motorcycle). Just be forewarned - dont expect them to last forever, cause they probably wont. Have to see how this brand holds up. Will be doing all the rear on my jeep later today.

@@gsdlkfgmsdlkggsdglkngsl1607 i dont remember 100% if they use the exact same size/base or not, but i think the hi and low beams do. I had to look that up when i bought them. When i said i used the same bulbs, i meant the same “color/brightness/model from the same manufacturer- for all 3 hi/low/fogs so the colors and brightness all matched perfectly. You’ll have to look up on a vehicle bulb size chart to confirm - but I THINK its the fog light bulbs that were a little different. I have 2 orders in my shopping history, and one bulb specifically says “fog light” in the description. If i remember right (cause its been a few months) I’m pretty sure the hi and low beam use the exact same bulb - but its the type/style of headlight lens and reflector thats different on the car - which is what makes them light the roadway differently - and not the bulb. For some reason all my responses arent posting on here.

My JGC has the premium lighting group with the bi-xenon HID headlights. The headlights are slightly yellow and I prefer white. I’ve read it’s difficult to convert HID to LED as it’s not a direct bulb swap as it is with halogens. What do you recommend?
@thisguyvlad172 жыл бұрын
If you have a 2017+ JGC just upgrade your current D3S bulbs to either OSRAM CBB D3S amzn.to/3dXtGhs or Diode Dynamics D3S bulbs.
@billstankiewicz50672 жыл бұрын
I added HID bulbs from Amazon. They are super white, 6000K color. Originals Oskrams are 3000K so a little more yellow. D3S bulbs cost about 40 - 60 a pair. Go local and pay $149 for 3000K. Not easy to change, takes about an hour.

We switched the low beams and they aren't adjusted properly. We called two different places to have them do it (because the lights were so hard to get to and we wanted to make sure it's done right), both places said they can't be switched like this because the lights get too hot and for them to do it (so they don't get hot) it's $1500. Have you had any issues with the led's burning anything? I'm not sure if they are just trying to upsell or not.
@thisguyvlad17 Жыл бұрын
So, the LED driver (little box attached to the LED) & heat sink do get very hot when they are on & running. But, you would only need them on for like 5-10 seconds to see the beam pattern, then you could adjust accordingly. What it sounds like is that they just don't want to do the job, that's why they gave an outrageous price.

Hey @ThisGuyVlad ! Thank you so much for the informative video! If I may, I have one question/confusion - In the video you mention that we need 921 LED for the reverse and a 194 LED for the tailgate However, when I check out the links in the description, you do link the 921 bulb for the inner tailgate, but for the outer reverse lights you linked a 7440/7443 bulbs. So what exactly should I look for, 921 or 7440/7443 for the outer reverse lights? Thanks again!

My apologies for the confusion it may have caused. The 194 LED is for the inside of the tailgate.. For the reverse LEDs you'll need the 921 for the inner reverse & 7440/7443 for the outer reversed.

Mine are single beams for the lows & highs. If you have the fancy headlights that have the daytime ring, then you have HIDs that are dual filament and I wouldn't recommend swapping to LEDs. You're better off just getting a better D3S HID bulb like from Diode Dynamics, OSRAM or Philips.

@thisguyvlad172 жыл бұрын
First time someone has mentioned this issue. Since your sons is a 2015 you probably need a antiflicker module/LED decoder like this amzn.to/3ICT3C0
@bobbymccourt67942 жыл бұрын
@@thisguyvlad17 Vlad it was actually easier than that. I did a little research and found that using the Appcar software and going in through the OBD2 port all I had to do was to set “Front fog lights LED” to SET or enabled. The 15’s use a different command for the fogs. Changing this setting tells the module to change the way the bulb is controlled. The software was $49 but WELL worth it. I customized a few other settings for him and he’s thrilled with it now. If you own a 2015 GC and are having this issue it is a much better option IMO than buying the resistors, installing and mounting them. HTH’s 👍🏻
